Took in our precious cat to get some dental work done. Claremont Vet Hospital and Dr L were great, and their care for our cat really came through. I got a call from Dr L just before surgery letting us know what to expect, a call when it was done letting us know all went well, and after-care instructions and emails checking up on her. Really helped put our worries at ease. Thanks for taking care of our kitty!

Get yourself ready to get a pricy 'package' every time you visit them. Their 'scientific' reasoning when you ask why certain procedures are in included in a package, which you're being forced to get them all is 'that's just our package!' They openly just want to make as much money as possible of you. I guess can't blame them much either. They're located in a reach older generation neighborhood. But hurts when they call it 'good medicine'. ------ This is an additional comment to your 'rational' response. 1st of all, no this relation does not work, I agree on that. But others should know who you really are. When a vet or whomever claims what they say is based on science, they must provide scientific rational reasoning for whatever is that they say in regards to a medical procedure. Once you use such reasoning such as 'that's our package', you invalidate yourself. I apologize to all car sale people for drawing such comparison line. This is conning others, hoping them not opposing your way of making easy money. 2nd, prior to me coming over I discussed the situation with your office o and I was told I don't need to do any of those procedures listed on the invoice. You knew what you've told me, because you just said 'the other vet'. That just makes you a more of a sneaky con.Let me clarify this to you, the ONLY medicine you believe in is: sell as much as you can and hope no one asks you why. Wish you worst of everything you bring to others and sorry for your those who trust you.

The lady on the phone didn’t seem to care about my situation because I wasn’t a current client so the fact that you don’t care about a dead puppy and me trying to understand what to do next or just simply asking a question of, is it normal for puppies to be born so far part is disturbing. Maybe you should find a job that you love.

I love Claremont Veternary Hospital. All the staff and vets here are so compassionate and wonderful. They have taken great care of both of my fur babies. They are very reasonable about costs and testing/treatment and have bent over backwards to be available for appointments even during covid and being slammed. I truly appreciate them.

I moved back to Oakland during the pandemic and needed to find a good vet for my two young cats. When other vet clinics were (understandably) refusing to take new patients, Doctor McDonald and the entire staff got us in and helped my rascals through injury and illness. I always feel grateful for their care and expertise and astonished at how the clinic has kept everyone safe but managed to keep delivering quality care. Thank you for being there so that our pets can get good care!

Really friendly and efficient. They also seem honest and conservative in their treatment recommendations, which my dog and my wallet both appreciate!

*UPDATE* I wanted to update this review by saying I first reached out to the hospital to let them know my concerns before writing this review. They have been very responsive and receptive to what I had to say. I really appreciate their concern and willingness to learn from this as well as share with me how they plan to do better in the future. Yesterday I took my cat to this hospital because she hadn't been feeling well and to establish care since I am new to the area. I want to preface this review by saying I used to be an RVT and worked in the veterinary field for about 10 years. I also understand how busy vets are right now (and always) and they are currently having to see clients in the parking lot because of the pandemic. It is stressful all around, but what I experienced is unacceptable. Everything was great until I got my cat back the first time. I noticed the towel that came in her carrier was gone and a potty pad was in the carrier. I also noticed blood on her belly. When I mentioned the blood to the woman she took her back in the hospital to have her checked. The second time I got her back I was told she didn't have blood on her and the potty pad was removed and not replaced. When I got home I took her out and her backside was covered in dried urine, she had a hematoma (this is like a bruise but swollen with blood) where blood was drawn, blood covering her leg and abdomen, and bruises on her abdomen. This blood was dried and had been there for some time by the look of it. I called to explain the condition of my cat and my disappointment. The doctor ended up calling and apologizing, which I appreciate. I was told they would check in tomorrow. I have yet to receive a check in. I did email them again today because I noticed patches of fur missing. This fur wasn't missing when I brought her in. I did notice a clump of fur in her carrier when I got her back but didn't think anything of it until I saw missing fur on her neck. This is only an assumption, but based on my experience it looks like someone scruffed her and ripped out her fur. I don't think any of this is intentional. I think they truly care about pets. I do think this is what happens when hospitals are busy, rushing, and not giving the attention to each patient/client that they deserve. I totally understand how my cat could get a hematoma, have some blood on the leg after a blood draw, even have peed in her carrier and cage. What I don't understand is returning a cat (or any pet) in this condition. It was very hurtful to see my cat this way.

The staff here was more than accommodating on short notice while we were traveling across the country. UFI (Unconstitutional Forced Isolation) has impacted our necessary need to travel and this clinic was so helpful when we needed them the most.

Excellent response time from front staff, and a great experience once we were able to get scheduled. Limited parking (two spots out front), but a short walk once off the main road in Rockridge, the staff are friendly, efficient, and patient when it comes to pet handling - or any questions from a first-time owner! Highly recommend Claremont as the place to go for your pet needs!

Our new dog (new transplant from Taiwan!) started coughing overnight, and seeming to try to clear his throat. I was pretty sure it was a pumpkin seed that my husband had fed him which had gotten caught in his throat. After it didn't clear in a day, being a concerned new canine mom, I called Claremont Vet for an urgent appointment. Dr. Morris came outside (Covid protocol), listened to my 'suggested' diagnosis, listened to our dog, and brought him back to isolation until he was able to check things out. Turns out that my pumpkin seed diagnosis was incorrect, and that he had kennel cough. Dr. Morris did a very thorough job checking Cubby and making sure there was nothing lodged in his airway, and I picked him up at the end of the day. The cost was much less than I would have anticipated, and I left at the end of the day relieved that Cubby was a-okay. Very pleased with Dr. Morris and the Claremont Vet!

Have been going to this vet for years: they're easy to schedule with, order my cat's special food (I just pick it up - but just saw they're launching an eShop with free shipping), and I never feel like they're trying to sell me on expensive or unnecessary procedures.

I love this place. Each time I’ve gone here they’ve been kind to my cat and informative for me. The value of their service far outweighs the cost and I’ve never been disappointed.

I have a high energy pitbull, and worry when strangers take her if she will behave or not. The staff had no problems with my crazy dog.

Claremont Vet has been enormously helpful and supportive. We are especially grateful to Dr Eger for her compassion and guidance in the last moments of our cat's life.

Very professional and friendly!! Dr. Shannon found a solution to my Frenchie nephew's dietary issues, and Dr. Maayan spayed my pup with much care and even called the next day to check in on us personally.

This was a 5 star place when Dr. Frizzel was there. I was told just today that it is under new ownership. I will probably not return after being a client for many years, as the new office staff was unhelpful. Dr. Eger , who is great, is still there but just not feeling comfortable there any longer.

I absolutely adore Dr. Leggieri and the staff at Claremont! They have taken such great care of my feral baby Patches who needed her eye, teeth and part of her ears removed. I’ve been happily driving from San Jose to Oakland to get Patches the best care available for her special needs. Thank you so much for being awesome!

When to this vet today, again , i had an appointment and i still had to wait outside for 45 minutes, the vet said my dog's overweight but didn't recommend anything in specific, my dog has some red spots , scabs and he keeps scratching all the time, this " veterinarian " didn't prescribe anything, zero, not even a shampoo, she said is normal, They just took my money and that was it, i won't recommend this placeto anyone if you really love your pet, take him/her somewhere else.

Yesterday I went to take my Chihuahua at her first appointment at first I asked a white doctor that I have an appointment and I gave him her name and all what he said was “and?” And for me it was disrespectful and since me and my dad didn’t know what to do we just stand there for a couple of minutes and a Chinese lady came up to us and asked us if we had an a appointment and we said yes we do and she just gave us a paper work to fil it out and we did and than we had to wait again a couple of minutes for her to come back and take the papers and my chihuahua than when they finished to take her first shots they came out with her and another lady doctor she was very very nice and she told me every thing that her body was very healthy but not her stomach because she not dewormed but they did have her 2 shots one fo the shoulder I think and one for the nose and for dewormed she gave me 5 packs of medicine for me to put it in my chihuahua wet food and also gave me her next visits for my chihuahua to have her shots and yeah this was my experience the I didn’t like the first thing but the rest of it it was good so this was my experience with this place I super recommended tho Thanks
