After Hours Dog Grooming Oakland, California

Always very consistent with time. Usually takes about two hours for a full groom every time I go. My pup Always comes out looking perfect. I’ve been coming here for some years now and they have yet to disappoint!

The grooming service was great and Sasha, our Pit bull puppy, loved hanging out there.

After our groomer is one of the best groomers I've ever dealt with. I have been dealing with them for quite a few years and they still hold me up and top quality service with my dogs. I have 3 yorkies that I take back-and-forth over the last 7 years and the service has been excellent.

the folks at after hours are super accommodating. my dog didn't want her nails cut and the groomer was patient and understanding.

It use to be excellent for pet grooming. Now they seem to not care nor will they tell you if your pet was hurt turning the grooming process. Will never return nor recommend anyone ever. Plus the price continues to change

They don't do what you ask them to do.

It was my first time taking my dog to this grooming place. i could not complain about how they cut my dog hair they did an amazing job. But when i picked him up i kept seeing him scratch his eyes didn't think much of it but after 3 hours i seen they had gotten swollen to the point where he could no longer see. & not to mention they did cut off all his eyelashes not sure if thats why his eyes were irritated or because of the type of shampoo or whatever they put on him irritated his poor eyes.

Great place, love The grooming they did for our pet, followed all instructions, very happy with the service, also very courteous customer service. Our pet has anxiety issues, but they do good care of her.

We recently moved to Alameda and were looking for a grooming place for our Maltese dog. I actually got the number for After Hours from another groomer who I had contacted but she did not have any slots available for 2 weeks out. I called After Hours Grooming and they were able to take Jaz in the next day. They did a good job with her grooming. She came back all fluzzy and smelling great???? I would definitely recommend this place.

Kimbo is an American bull dog 80 lbs in weight and this place could handle his big heavy, puppy excited demeanor easy. I love the services and experience. No one answered the door, no bell; the neighbor seemed annoyed that I rang the bell outside &told me that they have no bell.

This is the only place that My family has been comfortable with trusting Dutches with. My dog doesn’t go to too many strangers so it’s hard to find a groomer, but she behaves here. ????????????The owner Is very patient and her work speaks for itself. !! My daughter Gets so excited when it’s time to go pick her up. Because she knows dutches is going to come back looking Beautiful ! we get a surprised every time at her creative Work. ! Not only is she’s clean , she’s comes home looking like a pretty princess dog. ???????????????????? Thank you for all u do.

Tried to finesse me $125 for a shave. Absolutely outrageous, no integrity, will never solicit this place again.

I took my dog here last month and I thought they were pricey for what they were able to do. Well I was right. It wasnt until I took my dog elsewhere when I realized the poor job they did... left my dog with uneven hair, didnt do the nails like they said they would, and hair tail was still tangled and dirty. Never again.

I've got a yellow Labrador who has never been to a Dog Groomer before, ever! A friend in Piedmont recommended this place as she has two dogs - a rescue dog and a Berneseadoodle (sp?) and told me they do a very fair job of pricing, reliable and fairly easy to get an appointment. LOVE supporting local businesses and this one seems to be run by a family, as I met the mother and one of the daughters. Possibly another daughter and son were groomers as well, not positive. Very friendly, offered suggestions and recommendations as I wanted a "puppy cut" and my lab doesn't really have that long of fur in the 1st place. She recommended trimming the hair around the neck area to match the rest of the coat, give her a medicinal bath for itchy skin, blow dry and brush her out real well so that she isn't shedding like a banshee. Zoey (my dog) looked like a puppy again! Smelled great, felt super soft, wasn't traumatized in any way (being her 1st time) and it was easy to drop her off and pick up as the Oil Lube place next door has parking right outside the Grooming business. Zoey will be back and thanks!

My service dog has been groomed regularly since he was a puppy and I have never had and feedback about behavioral challenges. He has had three previous groomers due to my relocating due to employment. The first visit AHG went fine and I was told he did well. The cuts were done well and he seemed hapot when I I picked him up. Initially, I let them know about a previous back injury and that he had to be lifted in a particular way. I also let them know that he could not hear out of his left ear. The person wrote down details on his card. Two visits ago his back was reinjured and I made them aware if this on my last and final visit and reminded them about how to lift him. He seemed a bit overly excited to see me when I picked him up and when we got home he hid under tables for a few days. I was able to coax him out and try to comfort him to hide and keep to himself which was most unusual. He did not want me to examine him for a few days. I noticed that he couldn't hear me at all when I called him and I would try to clap my hands but he didn't notice that either. He startled easily when I touched him which he has never done before. Ultimately he saw a vet and seems to have completely lost his hearing and bruises were also noticed on his body. It's taken a number of weeks and a lot of coaxing to get him back to his normal self. Luckily, I had taught him some sign language for when I needed to signal him without a verbal command. I have no idea what happened to him other than that he came back bruised and unable to hear out of his right ear at all. He has had three vet visits in the months since we have had our last visit. Needless to say he will not be going back and I will be taking a course on how to groom him so that nothing like this will ever happen to him again.

I’m so glad I decided to take my boy here. He looks great and feels fly????! The ladies did a great job, and it was reasonably priced. Also keeping it local. Thank you!

Friendly and efficient and professional and fun

I met Lisa and her staff in 2016 when I got my puppy. The work that they do is absolutely breathtaking. Staff is respectful and go beyond their jobs to help clients anyway they can. I adore them.

This place is great! They always do a fantastic job on my Portuguese Water Dog Yogi.

They have been grooming de-skunking our 115 lb Bernese Mountain Dog for the last 5 years with wonderful results. Bodhi always receives complements for how terrific his coat is. And, now his little brother, Sidd, just over a year now, but, bigger than Bodhi also goes to After Hours with the same terrific results and care.

This place is scary and the owner appears to be a sociopath. The employees will stalk you and video record you. I saw them throwing dogs into kennels. The entire place is super trashy and gross; unhygienic. I saw the other reviews about a dog being murdered here and a "lost" dog. I called other dog grooming places and they also confirmed that it is true. The "missing" yorkie was the dog of a restaurant owner in the area. The dog that was murdered was a larger dog found 3/4 shaved and neglected and strangled to death.

They are so sweet with our precious dog! He has lots of issues and he is so happy when he walks in and when he walks out!!

Animal control now investigating possible abuse after a young, healthy dog died while in their care. Don’t take your pet here!

I have been going here for years and they have always done a great job with my mini poodle. I am disturbed when I read reviews of animal cruelty and a dog dying here. I have never seen any animals thrown in cages as one reviewer reported. If anything, they gently carry the dogs. My dog gets anxious so several times, he wasn't in a crate. I am so shocked and sorry to read the negative reviews, but from my own experience it's been nothing but a good experience. The owner, Lisa, takes my dog last minute and will have him ready in less than 2 hours.
