During March 2020, we decided to foster a German Shepherd. After speaking extensively with Missi, she recommended multiple dogs that she believed would fit our lifestyle, and ours theirs. We immediately fell in love with Gia, and after fostering for 3 months, we decided to adopt her. Missi has continued to be supportive since, including giving us advice for Gia. We recently moved to Houston, and due to having more room we're talking about getting a second pup. We would only want to adopt from GSROC!!

Can't say enough positive things about GSROC! The work they do, and the volunteers and Foster's are absolutely amazing! The dedication and the time spent trying to find the right forever home for each fur baby is so very admirable and so appreciated...thank you all for what you do! Randy G.

Over the past 25 Years I have had the privilege of adopting 7 dogs from GSROC. This group of volunteers work very hard in finding the best match for our family. They are compassionate and professional. If you are looking to adopt a German Shepherd, I recommend that you rely on their expertise.

I've been adopting from German Shepherd Rescue of Orange County for over ten years. My recent adoption in September, 2021 was of Latte. I've had German Shepherds all of my life, but have become disenchanted with breeders who care only about the money and not the dogs. I only adopt from German Shepherd Rescue of Orange County (GSROC) from now on. They are professional, reliable and focus on getting all of the dogs in their care into good homes. They are focused on the dogs - not the money. (But of course it does take money to rescue dogs and take care of the vet bills!). I couldn't be more pleased with the partnership with GSROC. I think they are a fantastic organization and highly recommend them. (I also think Maria has a talent to know what homes the dogs will fit best in!)

kinda ridiculous they don’t let you adopt unless you’re 23. now even someone who is 6 months away from being 23. i’m sure so many dogs would’ve been adopted if they’d allow it. sad.

I’ve been a volunteer and affiliated with GSROC for over 15yrs. My initial involvement with the organization was two-fold, I had a female gsd that was unruly and I needed some guidance, and secondly, I volunteered my time to help with my community hours to prepare for grad school. Not only did I find resources to utilize in home with my dog, I became one. I found a love for rescue, handling the stronger dogs, and attending adoption events. I’ve never met a more loyal group of individuals who see the potential in these dogs, and do everything they can to make certain they receive the best of care and forever homes. In due time, I too, would rescue one of their dogs, and he’s the best companion I could ask for. If you’re looking for a non-profit who truly cares and are devoted to their cause, GSROC is exemplary of such. Thank you for the years of community, family and for my Kai.

Hi, I don’t want to give a bad review but this is more about a job interview. I was supposed to have a phone call interview with a manger on the indeed app, we scheduled a phone call! First off they don’t respond at acceptable hours I’m talking about 10pm. Then comes the day of the phone call I’m very excited by the way! I was given a specific time for a phone call and never did they call, I messaged them 2 hours later asking if the phone call was still gonna happen! They messaged me until the next day telling me that the job was on hold! I wish they would’ve just canceled the appointment there’s a way to do that on indeed. I understand I’m not a priority but it would’ve been nice to get replies at acceptable hours or a cancellation at most!

We love our rescues from gsroc.org. They found the perfect fit for our family. Our coordinator was so easy to reach and helpful whenever we had questions.

This rescue is one of the best around. They spare no expense on getting their dogs the care they need. They do a wonderful job at matching each dogs personality to fit the home of the potential adopter. Very dog savvy volunteers who work hard to make a perfect match.

We’ve been calling over and over to adopt but no one seems to call us back or email us. Our sweet darling dog passed away a month ago and we are ready to have another one join our family We may have to go to a breeder to purchase one. So sorry but we had a wonderful loving home for a rescue John Moreno

I adopted a puppy from GSROC last summer, and I can't say enough good things about the organization, the adoption experience, and my baby. First, this organization is such an asset to the region. They save so many German Shepherds and other dogs who would otherwise die in public shelters. Second, from start to finish, the adoption process was professional and smooth. GSROC has wonderful volunteers who are available, helpful, and diligent. Third, and definitely saving the best for last, my puppy is the AMAZING. He is a big beautiful purebred who is calm, smart, and everything a GSD should be. I give GSROC an A+!

Fantastic organization! Steve Herman was the gentleman we worked with and still send him pictures of our beautiful Becky more than 2 years after adopting her. If we are ever in the market for another GSD, we would definitely go through them. Oh, and we drove out there from AZ and would do it again!

I have adopted 6 dogs from them since 2012. They are the most dedicated and caring group around. I would rate them 10 stars, if I could. They are spectacular people who take wonderful care of all of the fur babies in their care. They are the best.

Love this rescue and I have volunteered and been on the board of others so doing rescue since 1976, I know what a professional rescue is. The last dog they placed for me was a semi-feral 6 yr. old who lived with a hoarder and was found in horrible condition by herself outside. The dog needed to be carried she was so terrified of people, never had a leash on and was epileptic. The rescue took months training her, loving her, and then placed her after careful vetting with a wonderful family with kids. I have turned people down when vetting for many rescues, since the pet always is the most important to consider. People get upset, it is natural but never turn away from a marvelous rescue because they have saved so many animals and trust me, no rescue gets rich on doing this hard work.

I really love the wonderful, kind folks at the GSROC. After losing an elderly shepherd I'd had for 16 years, I simply asked them to recommend a sweet and loving dog. Sadie is the very definition of sweet and loving. That was 2 years ago. Last month we decided Sadie needed a brother, and we found Toast. He had never been tested with cats, but when I expressed interest, the GSROC volunteers dropped everything and brought him to our home to give it a try -- within hours of our phone call! They were so nice and really concerned with finding a right fit -- for us and for the dog. You know if a dog is with a rescue, he's been through some trauma, but we have found two of the greatest dogs ever, thanks to GSROC & we are so grateful to them!

I have adopted three dogs from GSR Orange County. Each adoption was done professionally, and with emphasis on the dogs health and safety. The staff is professional and thorough. Great experience!

I was immediately denied when I said that I wanted utilize the dog as a service dog. I know there are Veteran organizations that provide you with a dog but I wanted to bring in my own but I guess not. One more great home that does not get to rescue a dog from here

I have made an aplicación for a puppy and an email was sent to me asking where would the dog sleep. . My response was I would prefer him indoors but if he wanted to be outside it would be ok. Their next response was my application was denied because they want all their dogs to have space to sleep inside preferably next to the person adopting.. I’m pretty sure they can come up with some better excuse..

We adopted the most amazing GSD from German Shepherd Rescue of Orange County. Quick response after we applied online and they matched us with the most amazing girl. They care about each and everyone of their dogs and want to find them the best forever homes.
