My partner and I came in with an emergency and the doctors and staff were a godsend. They took in both her dog and my cat last minute, even though my cat wasn’t a patient at the clinic, and took excellent care of them. Our babies had to stay overnight so of course we were anxious about them, but the staff were very professional and attentive, responding to all our calls and questions with compassion. They really went the extra mile to make us and our pets feel safe. Thank you Alta View!

Add on services and poor services at that. Had a growth removed from my dog’s foot. Seemed benign so I declined sending it to the lab. They charged me for sending it. Over two weeks later and no results from the lab. Had to call myself to make an appointment to get the stitches removed. Now waiting over 7 hours for them to remove the stitches. Worst service ever. Go somewhere else.

We took our cats in to be boarded. After we dropped them off, they called to tell us our cat had an upper respiratory infection. Fine. Treat them for it. In all we paid almost $3000. They are so expensive. I wish I had looked at the reviews before going here. But maybe I can save someone else some money. I never dreamed of it being this expensive. After calling to find out more information about the bill, all they could say is our cats were very sick. They showed no signs of being sick when we took them. They said they did IVs but they didn’t shave a leg so how did they do an IV. I’d like it if they did the right thing and refunded money for services not received.

possibly the worst experience i have ever had at a veterinary clinic. great place to waste time waiting for unnecessary treatments to be done to your pets. better yet, they'll make sure you get EXTREMELY EXPENSIVE perscriptions for things you never noticed were wrong with your animal. went to neuter my puppy. drove away with eardrops for "allergies" he doesn't even have. utterly ridiculous. they said he would absolutely be ready by 3 pm. I told them I would be there at 5:30, i did not get my dog back until almost an hour later. photo related. this is my dog, they said he had allergies on his ears and that they were "red and irritated" on the outer edges. where?

The usual hour late wait even though for a euthanasia I was promised I would not have to wait for an hour. Very disappointing, painful and sad. This is chronic. Why can't the clinic hire another VET or make less appointments. This is a burn out place as the techs seldom last for more than a year. It is painful and stressful to have to sit with a sick pet for an hour late appointment. This has been going on for years now.

One star. I have used this vet several times and they love to upcharge and recommend services that are not needed or necessary. They are also overwhelmed and will keep your pets overnight and for multiple days because they don't have time to complete all of the services. The last straw was when my cat was returned to me with an eye cover/mask/muzzle on her face (Vet's property). They obviously had her like that for several hours and didn't bother to look at my cat before returning her to me. There is no reason why she should have been muzzled while in the pet carrier. And my cat is not aggressive at all. Her new vet actually said she was very sweet. Avoid.

My family dog came here for a check up because she was having breathing issues I paid a little over 3200 dollars for whatever they charged gave me medication for my dog and no refills. I am very Upset because my family dog resides in Modesto CA so drove up almost two hours for the doctor to say he cannot provide a refill for the medication unless we do another physical keep in mind I paid 3200 less than a month ago. Honestly San Mateo County has great programs and services to help your animals at a low cost educate yourself before you come here. This place helped my dog yes but the VET SAID ; She will need medication for life! So why would you provide one prescription for the amount of money I paid. Very dissatisfied and disappointed

They CAN’T even do a simple bandage properly. It was a shallow cut on one paw pad. But my dog came out with blood on his bandage. Your pet can’t talk nor complain, so listen to all the bad reviews and stay away from Alta View Pet Hospital.

First visit was ok the 2nd time they quoted me. Price on the phone and when I arrived it was different quote .3rd time was a mess they said they were going to do blood work , pancreas test. X-ray s .they quoted me a price I told them I could only pay $250 and I would pay the rest on Friday. The tall guy was rude to me when I came back to pick up my dog asking me to pay in full it felt like they didn’t want to give me my dog back until paid in full it felt very uncomfortable disputing with people that re suppose to help me with my sick dog . Now they are changing the total price . I will never bring my cat and dog here. Rude Unprofessional. Never gave me a result on what was wrong with my dog. Until paid in full

I took my dog there for exams and tried to get refill prescriptions for his eyes medication because he is permanently on this medication for life. They wanted us to pay for a lot services which we don’t have money to pay for them. We try to pay only necessary services which we can effort and they won’t let us pay for services and medication we want. We decided to just pay for the exam and take our dog to another vet. They tells us if we don’t pay for their services, they will report our dog to animal control. What kind of vet hospital service is threatened people if they are not agree with their suggestion of treatment. Beware of this rude treatment of this hospital and their staffs.

IV was done incorrectly causing a big black puffy lump around the IV site. This is call negligence, not acceptable at all, especially when I have been charged a medical supervision fee. IV infiltration can be harmful, can cause infections, nerve damage, stroke, brain injury or even deadly.

Zero Stars. Listen to the previous reviews and learn from our mistake, don’t take your pet here -if it is emergent reason you are going to the vet, head directly across the street to MedVet. This place will try to do unnecessary diagnostic procedures, they take forever, the prices are ridiculous, it will stress your pet out to be in their care. On the other hand, MedVet is professional, they do what is necessary and right by your pet, they walk you through admission and your pets care in great timing, while taking care to answer all your questions and give you all the information you need. When our puppy got sick our first visit was here, and unfortunately she passed away due to parvo. My biggest regret is coming here first, should have walked across the street to MedVet.

Think of a vet that asks you which vaccines is my dog getting that day. I thought I took my dog to vet :/ One more thing, get ready for rude answers such as "here is not Walmart, it's a vet" when you ask them how long more it will take in the second hour you are there. Definitely going to another vet next time.

This review is based on our last visit. We were very happy with Jack Ehlinger in the past, while it is inconvenient to be on the parking lot, he took his time to explain everything and even called us to check on our cat. However the most recent visit our other cat was seen by a different vet and the experience could not have been more different. Let me start by saying that I absolutely hate the curbside pickup method of attending for our pets. If they are going to have something like this they need excellent communication to compensate for it, which they don't have. I spent an hour and a half on a hot bad air quality day in the parking lot(I'm also visibly very pregnant). Most of this time was spent just waiting for people to get back to me. The vet didn't even come out or explain clearly what was happening. She talked on the phone for a minute and an assistant came out with an estimate. The estimate was more than 600 dollars and the assistant wasn't even able to explain what the tests were. While I was trying to make a decision, an older man who seems like the manager, scolded the assistant it seems for spending time with me while she could be answering the phone etc. I was left alone and had to call them again for someone to come out. After many back and forth instances like that, another assistant was able to explain better the needed procedure/test. He was very kind. They say you have to call them on the next day for the results. After calling for two days they said that actually results would be back in three days so to call then. Not sure if it's bad management, bad organization, bad communication skills or all together but the experience was really bad.

horrible vet and even got their LICENSE REVOKED but still continues to practice and do things without informing the dog owners and still charging them for it. all other vets at least call and let you know what they are doing and the price before and give you a full invoice after

very very disappointed with this dr paul, bad diagnosis to fix her not to have baby.then and keeps you coming to visit the dog for lab exam and the medication which it started ofter fixing her and charging 2 or 3 times than other places.after spending all this time and money,we had to put her sleep.He charged $ 365 for it too

Constantly up-charging for unnecessary procedures. Waited in the parking lot for an hour to pick up my dog. This is after they told me he was ready.

Requested my dog’s medical records over email and they sent back a file containing his lab results. When I asked for his full record (including check ups and dental care) they didn’t respond. I reached out over email, phone, and I even went to the office in person, but it’s been months now and still nothing. The overprescribe, overcharge, and will try to convince you that your dog needs to stay overnight for minor procedures like a teeth cleaning. When my italian greyhound came home from getting his teeth cleaned he was extremely anxious and jumpy. He hid in the bathroom for hours shaking. He has been under anesthesia before, and I have NEVER seen him like that. I am extremely concerned about how he was treated while he was in their care. Please for the sake of your animal go somewhere else!

I would like to note that the service I had on 5/21/2021 was very unprofessional. Doctor even didn’t check files for cats and didn’t check the reason I made the appointment. Many assistants were involved in service, but it was really not useful, only created mess and confusion. In first invoice were included procedures and medicines I didn’t ask for, and I even discussed with the doctor what I needed. Doctor promised to provide a printed copy of the explanation of result x-ray, but after waiting 30 minutes I received a rude and unprofessional response about sending this information via email. Specially I want to mention that the treatment I received after 13 year being a client of Alta View Hospital is absolutely not acceptable, same as disrespectful behavior and screaming at me from dr. Ghumman. Wasn’t good sample for your young coworkers on how to treat clients. Only to Trask I would like to say thank you. At least one person gave me some feedback about blood test. Review/result for X-Ray I still don't have. Tatyana

Alta View vets have taken great care of our dogs for 23 years. Dr. Suji took care of our 13 year old dog yesterday with great care. She explains everything well and helps us plan her treatment. The staff is great- friendly and efficient. Great practice that we’ve appreciated for many years.

Worst vet experience ever. Just moved to Mountain View and I am so upset that I tried them first. They only care about extracting as much money possible, but won't return a call when it comes to lab results. Try anyone else, they have to be better. I'm going to Adobe.

The Doctor doesn’t care about animal health, all about money. I described symptoms, she didn’t even want to listen, just insisted on expensive tests. We were there 3 times- per one week. Not helpful. Waste of time, money and health...

Dr. Ghumann and his staff are probably the most competent and compassionate people who I have come across in years. Sammy the Wonder Cat was brought to the hospital dying from a kidney issue and a bladder blockage. The office staff and technician's rushed to give Sammy the care he needed. The doctor has spent countless hours working with us, other advocacy agencies and of course Sammy to get him through this heart breaking time. All the while dealing with the Covid-19 schmellie. Thank you Alta View Animal Hospital and Dr. Ghumann!

Zero stars. I've given Alta view too many chances since September 2019 and I've had enough. The staff are so incompetent it's almost laughable. My cat was given a prescription food for crystals by Dr. Paul, and whenever I call to confirm it's in stock, I'm told "yes". Then, I arrive and the staff bring out the wrong bag of cat food (this happened 3x). They go recheck the back room, and sure enough, it's not in stock. It's completely unacceptable. This time, I asked if I could receive a discount due to it being a waste of my time, and the staff checked with the owner who told her no! Seriously? It's clear they don't care about you, or your pets; they only care about money! On top of that, the time spent in the waiting room (pre Covid) before, during, and after my cat was already seen was outrageous. Oh, and you better check your bill statement closely before paying, as there will be procedures listed on there that they "thought" occurred but didn't.

I desperately wish I had checked yelp before bringing my dog here. My dog has only gotten worse after two appointments and over $700 in expenses. PLEASE research first!! The techs are very kind, but it is not worth the heartache of a pet whose HEALTH DECLINES after surgery and treatment at this facility.
