I’ve been coming to this clinic for 14 years. This time around it was for my little girl’s spaying surgery. The staff is always friendly and reliable but what I love is that they understand pet parents and treat these little ones as the family members that they are.

I travel more than 25 miles because I trust Dr Beltrán and Dr Odama. Their expertise and most of all their sincere devotion to healing our beloved pets. The staff goes above and beyond as well- very professional, knowledgeable and courteous.

My 5yr old Jack Russell has GI issues and my previous vet never solved the issue. I started coming here and Dr. Beltran is amazing! My fur baby has been doing so much better, and I appreciate how nice the staff is. This place does get very busy, so if you have to wait a while for your appointment, just be patient! Especially during emergency hours. Thank you VHC!

We took our dog here after we noticed him limping. We're newer to the area so we wanted to find a local vet. The vet ended up recommending an anti-inflammatory medication without reviewing any of the potential side effects that we should be looking for or aware of. That night, our dog had pools of blood as diarrhea. When we took him to VCA South Pasadena for emergency care they knew right away it was because of the medication. They explained how the medication is typically for dogs with arthritis and is notoriously known to cause this side effect. They were surprised they didn't recommend anything else or at least a lesser dosage. He had to stay in the hospital overnight to be closely monitored. When I called Veterinary Healthcare Center to go over everything that has happened, they simply explained to me that every medication has side effects. It was belittling to say the least -- of course I am aware medication has side effects, but the problem here was they did not take the time to disclose any of the potential side effects to us so that we can make an informed decision whether or not to administer this medication. They didn't warn us appropriately and we were utterly horrified to say the least when our dog was suddenly losing pools of blood. They refused to offer any monetary compensation for the emergency medical bills. They offered some credit for the practice, but what kind of pet parent would bring their baby back after such an experience. I wish there was an apology of some sort acknowledging that they didn't review what I should have been aware of or at least acknowledge their negligence on administering an inappropriate dosage for a dog like mine, but there wasn't. I will never be bringing my dog here again.

The most expensive vet services I’ve ever heard of. I was once in BH to visit the vet and the initial consult was $50. I can’t believe how expensive this place is. I’ve seen many vets with my dog and nobody was able to find the problem. If this vet would I’d be ok to pay so much but it’s not guaranteed.

Hands down on professionalism and friendliness. My puppy and I feel so welcome. The vet, nurse, and staff are working so hard. This place is always busy. Please be patient when calling them. You possibly be placed on hold for 5 to 20+ minutes (when you go there, you'll see why). Make appointment for non-emergency wayyyyy early! You have to call the front desk when you get there, and wait in the car. They will then call you right back when it's your turn to go in. I guess this is their procedures since the Covid-19. Mask is required.

I take my dog, Harley, here to receive her medical care. She ended up needing surgery ASAP and Dr Beltran and Dr Palmeri took her in right away and saved her life. They both have outstandingly took care of her along with the staff. Both doctors have answered any questions or worries I have with patience and understanding. I cannot thank them and the staff enough from the bottom of my heart. I even received a phone call at midnight the night of her surgery with an update!! I was also able to visit my baby while she was hospitalized. Both dr Beltran and Dr Palmeri are the best doctors I have come across and I cannot thank them enough for their outstanding professionalism and services. They truly love and care for pets!

Dr. Odama has been an outstanding veterinarian for all of my pets now, for years. He has excellent bedside manner, is very compassionate and thoroughly explains all necessary services needed. The problems start with the eventual unanticipated veterinary emergency that goes along with being a pet owner. After being put on hold for between 10 and 20 minutes, you are told that there are no appointments available for at least 2 weeks. The option given is to call in at specific times to see if you can secure a walk-in appointment for that day. When calling in you are at the mercy of the person answering your call. If they determine you are worthy of a coveted walk-in appointment you are told to expect a wait of between 1 to 3 hours . Parking is a major issue as well. For the hundreds of patients they treat, there are 8 parking spots on the property. The street parking is on a major thoroughfare and offers a handful of spots that are not in the red. It is the responsibility of the top veterinarian to put a cap on the amount of patients that they can reasonably see. I would not recommend Veterinary Healthcare Center to any concerned pet parent.

Dr. Beltran acts caring and charges every penny he can for that fake caring. They make you wait forever even when they are not busy. They charge for everything and are expensive.

I have total trust and faith with Veterinary Healthcare Center. I cannot say enough about the facility. The staff is helpful, courteous and friendly. Doctors Beltran and Palmeri are very caring and take time to talk to you regarding your love one(s). I've been a long-term client. You can also board your pet(s) there. My sister would drive from Long Beach to have her pug treated by Dr. Beltran.

I just want to say what a great place. compared to many others in the area and in LA county this place has great care and pricing is honest and unmatched. It's not uncommon for doctors to give discounts for rescues. We have taken our resident cat for care and another rescue kitty. Dr. Beltran quickly checked for the basics and recommended medications without fuss or up-selling of any kind. They even do litter checks which many places don't. To everyone giving 1-3 stars because of wait times due to covid-19 you are really something else. Simply awful. Yes, there might be wait times but have you checked other vet clinics? Most clinics and even pet hospitals are overwhelmed like the rest of the healthcare system in this country. Cry me a river and an ocean but to all the people that have met with Dr. Beltran and the other staff know that they truly care about what they do. If you want to get seen immediately go hire your own personal veterinarian to be on call for you and your family 24/7. It's simply disgusting the amount of negative reviews based on covid related wait times. Guess what? So many industries and service sectors have all had to adapt to the circumstances in order to continue to provide care. My kitties and future pets all give this clinic a wholesome 10 out 10 meows and 5 out of 5 woofs. No doubt, paws up and down and wave them all around. Final tip: if your pet can wait a bit you can order your prescriptions online and save! However every situation is different and your pet might need care right away!

Dr. Beltran is an amazing Dr. He is compassionate and has great bedside manners. Unfortunately my dog has a grim prognosis, but Dr. Beltran went out of his way to make sure I understood what was to come in the next few months. He definitely loves what he's does and a huge help when trying to find the best outcome for your pet. Also, I was not able to get one of the vet techs name but she was very lovely and helpful. This vet is some ways from where I live but I will continue bringing my dog until her final days. I highly recommend this vet office.

Good competent vets that can diagnose and treat your pet accurately. Blood test and urine results the same day. Can hospitalize pets on spot. Lots of charges but necessary to treat pet.
