Alpen Veterinary Hospital Mammoth Lakes, California

My guy and I came to Mammoth (my first time) and my 2-yo husky had diarrhea that got worse into the night and next day. We live at near sea level and I thought maybe it was altitude sickness since it didn’t kick in until we arrived. She was going downhill so fast, I cleaned up so many messes, I was terrified it was life-threatening. We’re over 300 miles from her vet so I looked up local vets and Alpen popped up just over a mile away. After calling ahead, their lovely receptionist said they’d squeeze my girl in. Dr. Teslaa and his tech were wonderful, effortlessly thorough and efficient and it’s honestly the best vet visit we’ve ever had. He was able to diagnose the problem with ease (giardia!), give her an antibiotic and anti-emetic injection that helped almost immediately, and sent us home with meds to help my baby feel better. Best of all, the cost was incredible, I was shocked by the low cost compared to the fantastic care we received! I wish our regular vet was this wonderful!!

Glad he came after hours to help my fur baby. Very friendly and great with all my fur babies. He gave us a great piece of mind to know she will be alright.

Fantastic Vet! Diagnosis was spot on with my pet!

We had to take our cat in to say goodbye in an emergent situation. The Vet was rough, quite rude to us, jammed our cat with a sedative because she was anxious and wouldn’t stay still, without warning us first. He barely said anything to us, was not kind to us or our suffering cat. It was a very traumatizing experience for us in a moment that was already very painful.

Dr.Teslaa is the most competent and wise vet I have ever had the pleasure of having my pets be treated by. He always puts your animals welfare before his pocketbook and your feelings. Honorable. I live in the bay area and I still take my dogs to him. He makes the vets HERE look incompetent, shady, and lazy.

So we were camping and our little Boston terrier got loose and got into a fight with a my cousins husky. Alpen was able to squeeze us in for wound care that day. Very much appreciated! Vet was very knowledgeable. We had a great experience! Bailey the Boston is healing up and very happy at home.

Dr Teslaa was amazing with my senior dog who I thought was going to be leaving us soon but he figured out what was wrong, gave us hope and started us on a treatment plan. The doctor and his staff are caring and sensitive and they think outside the box....which I love!! Thank you!

Saved my dogs life! Nothing means more than that. Dog collapsed on a Sunday and doc answered his cell phone and got us through it. Things were touch and go for a week but their whole staff was on top of it 24/7! Thank you from the bottom of my heart and my family’s

Dr. Teslaa has saved our cat from near death on multiple occasions and has dramatically improved his health through managing his chronic diseases. The office may look messy and unorganized, but Dr Teslaa is a quality veterinarian.

Showed up right at closing time. We’re visiting and our dog got attacked by another dog at outdoor restaurant. 4 big holes from bite. Everyone was super nice and took us in right away and got our dog treated. Dr was awesome. If this place was where we lived we would come to them for our normal visits that’s for sure!! Thank you

The Dr. and his staff were incredibly helpful. They helped my dog to feel comfortable. They didn't do anything unnecessary and the prices were very reasonable. Honestly, the best vet I've ever been to.

Here's an example of excellence: I left a message for the office when it was closed on a Saturday that my dog was having breathing problems but that I'd check back on Monday for an appointment. Dr. Teslaa called me on the weekend. He actually listened to vm and called. Wow. My old French Bulldog needed a surgical procedure to open her airways. Dr. Teslaa did an amazing job and his office took excellent care of my old girl. Dr. Teslaa is very personable and likes to share detailed information of what is going on. He loves to share images and documents explaining the situation. I'm so grateful I found this vet. We'll be driving from LA for future visits. No more big city industrial vets for me. Thank you!

After 4 years with Bishop Vet switched to Alpen. They are open 5 days a week (while Bishop vet is rarely open in Mammoth) and I've had many friends recommend Dr. TeSlaa. I've had 2 of my 3 pets there this month and am very happy with all the staff and service. Another plus, we see the same vet each time, which wasn't the case at Bishop Vet.

I’ve never been more digested by a vet in my life. He was rude, a horrible communicator, and absolutely incompetent. He misdiagnosed my dog, told me she need a $4k surgery or to be put down, and handled her very rough on top of it all, to the point where I could hear her yelping in pain during her X-ray despite the receptionist turning music on to try and drown the sound out. When I asked for my X-rays to get a second opinion, he became hostile and walked out of the room. I couldn’t be more glad I got that second opinion, it ended up being a relatively minor issue easily fixed by a vet that knew what they were doing.

We were passing through town on a cross country trip, and our kitty's eye began weeping. We called Aspen first thing in the morning and they were kind enough to fit us in before noon. The technician and the doctor were both incredibly professional and kind. They were kitty whisperers! Our kitty (he's actually a 15 year old siamese) let them give him a thorough check up. The doctor prescribed and gave us the proper eye drops immediately. It's been a few days and our kitty's eye seems to be healing. We can not thank Alpen enough for their excellent care. So grateful.

While on vacation in the area, our Golden became very sick. We thought it was altitude sickness, but after 2 days of the same issues, we knew something was wrong. They went out of their way to get us in the day I called, and he was able to get treated and obtain the medications he needed. The staff and Dr. were amazing, gracious, patient. Blu the dog responded well and was enjoying the mountains in a day or so. You guys rock!

The good doctor has given us an herbal remedy which he created himself curtailed to my dog’s condition. I appreciate this because I don’t want to continue giving my dog antibiotics for a reoccurring infection.

Doctor teslaa is kind and actually cares about your pets well being. Other vets in the area treat your family friend like livestock but not doctor T!

Came to Mammoth with my 5 month Scottie and I thought he had developed a UTI. It was Saturday after hours and doctor met us in 25 minutes and was a super hero! Puppy had chewed and swallowed a piece of metal which doc retrieved without surgery! 12 hours later he is back to normal! Can’t thank this doctor enough!! Thorough, patient, kind, accommodating and exceptional doctor!

Dr. Tesla is fantastic and very passionate about his work. He truly loves animals and cares. When I come from LA to Mammoth, I bring my cats for their checkups. He is the best.

Dr. TeSlaa saved my dogs life today.

Unprofessional and unable to perform their job. We brought our dog in to get spayed and the vet yelled at us because our dog was scared. I’ve never met such an unprofessional vet. Don’t waste your time dealing with this rude vet who can’t even put a nervous dog to sleep.

All great. Receptionist was kind, helpful and reassuring on the initial phone call. When I arrived, same thing. Doctor was personable, kind, explained clearly and easily his diagnosis and recommendations for course of treatment. They were so kind to my dog. On check out they answered all my questions. Thank you for a really great visit.

My dog got hurt hiking on a weekend and Dr treated him on Sunday. He gave excellent care and was very nice.
