The staff here are always pleasant. While they are quite busy a lot of times, they have always done an incredible job trying to accommodate my pets needs as quickly as possible. My questions are always answered completely and I truly feel that they have nothing but the best intentions when taking care of my dogs. I trust them fully!

I can’t thank Dr. Lisa and the nurses and staff at Animal Health Care Center enough. They are exceedingly compassionate and communicative, and accommodated us at a time when my cat’s urinary health condition quickly changed from uncomfortable to urgent. Times are tough for vets and their staff right now, with an apparent shortage of care hastened by the pandemic, many new pet adoptees, and their already taxing work caring for our furry family members. I appreciate the effort and empathy from the team here so much.

I recently "rescued" a 3 year old Bengal with behavioral issues, anxiety, and what I thought was probably seizures. Finding the right vet for him was causing me anxiety, because reality is, I'm the 4th home he's been in in his short life, so there was a lot riding on finding the right vet. I did. AHCC is unbelievable. Turns out, he has a heart murmur, too and, since the behavioral issues include biting, I can't treat the seizures (because all the available meds are oral). The vet agreed with me that taking a palliative approach was the right one. Kitty will be loved and left unstressed as much as possible, whether he lives 10 months or 10 years. I am soooooooo happy to have found a vet clinic that understands his health issues and my concerns. I strongly strongly strongly recommend this office.

Anyone that owns pet rats is pretty familiar with the sad fact that they get tumors. I bought my Sara here, & the tumor was huge.Dr Lisa was so helpful, & explained everything to me, but told me there was a risk when it comes to rats & anesthesia. Also my rat Sara is over 2 yrs old. I was really scared for Sara, but couldnt live with myself if i just let her suffer, & let her live w the tumor. I had many rats go thru this, only because I couldn't afford the cost. Its the most heartbreaking ordeal ever! Dr Lisa assured me she would be working w a specialist assisting her. That def changed the many doubt's I had! .... Everything went really well, & my Sara is so much happier. I really am so thankful to Dr Lisa & the staff here! Though it was expensive- $500.00, it was money well spent! Thank you! Andrea Hoffman

I'm new to Los Angeles and ended up at the AHCC because someone else recommended it to me. When I walked in I had no idea what to expect as far as prices but I quickly learned that this place was much higher than other places. When I arrived for my appointment there was nobody in the waiting room. That should have been a good indication of what was to come. Dr. Cartwright (holiday weekend so he was filling in) saw my cat, told me they needed x-rays/bloodwork and that it would have to be sent off to a lab. All of my previous vet visits at other practices have always had it done in house...but not here. So I knew that was going to be $$$. I left that day with some antibiotics for what they said could be a UTI and that they would call me during the week to give me the lab results and see how my kitty is doing. Almost a week passes, I have not heard a thing from them so I call. They apologize and eventually Dr. Lisa who will be handing my cat gives me a call back. She tells me the lab results do show possible diabetes...I'm ok with that so I wanted to know what to do next. More than the diabetes she seemed to push on me that I needed to treat my cat with their outrageously overpriced feline revolution flea medication. My cat is 14, has NEVER had a flea in her life but she kept insisting that I needed to do this. She was more concerned with shoving that down my throat than treating my cat who has bigger problems that flea prevention. Not only that but she constantly said how fleas are hard to see and cats hide them well...I hate to tell this lady but I know what fleas and flea dander look like. Don't try to make your patients feel like an idiot! The conversation ended and she said they would call me on Monday so I can get my prescription refill for the antibiotics (keep in mind my meds run out on Sat). So Monday rolls around and I hear nothing so I call...the girl that answers tells me they will give me a call later when the prescription is ready. I never heard a thing so on Tuesday morning I make the hour drive in traffic to get the script because they said they do not call in scripts to the pharmacy. It still wasn't ready so I waited around for them to give me the script so I could get out of there. See my attached photo for what I was charged $48 for the Clavamox. I ended up getting it filled for $28 at the pharmacy. I see it even cheaper online if you had the time for a mail order prescription. I was charged $257 for the X-Ray. I called around and it turns out that most Vets in Los Angeles will do this for around $85 in house without sending it off to a lab. That's a big difference! The bloodwork was $245...again much much cheaper if you go elsewhere. I'm starting to think the high prices are their way of making up for the lack of patients. I saw another vet this week and have been very happy! Do yourself a favor and go somewhere else if it's an important health issue. Dr. Lisa may be ok if you need your dogs nails clipped but I wouldn't trust her with my cats life.

Dr. Lisa is wonderful, compassionate and thorough. Plus, she sees exotics! Unfortunately, she is the only Vet at the practice, although there are some very capable techs. The parking lot is small, and it is easily missed.

Very knowledgeable and caring staff. I went in for a sick bearded dragon and received top notch care as well as a wealth of information. I will definitely be bringing any future pets back to Animal Health Care Center.

Great Vet, caring staff. They could use more animal videos in the waiting room, I think I've seen them all 5 times now. they have a parrot that talks to you.

Ellie sleeps soundly at night because she knows she can visit Dr. Cartwright / Dr. Shusan when she's sick. They're great about taking the time to explain health issues that come up with certain types of breeds. Really appreciated their help with my pup.

Great service. They do a great job of making sure your pet is comfortable and happy, and work to keep this potentually stressful situation as stress free as it can be! Thanks guys for your patience and being able to see my pet quickly, eventhough I am a new client newly transplanted here from across the country! You guys did a great job and I very much enjoyed meeting you and loved your practice. Thanks again!

Excellent service, staff, and boarding facilities. Very understanding of budget and practice minimal restraint. A hidden gem for pet owners who care about their pets enough to take them somewhere that isn't just trying to flip customers.

Dr. Lisa is great, and the office staff is attentive. Easy to make an appointment quickly, and I'm always happy with the service. They also call to check on the pet after your appointment. I was referred here by the shelter where I adopted my dog, Sante D'Or adoption center (Los Feliz Blvd).

The best place I know, the staff is as good as can be. The whole focus is on the quality of your pets care; Behavioral Training, Preventing problems before they occur, and Good Customer Service. How do I know this? Because I work there! :D
