Would give zero stars if I could. Staff all sitting around and saying they were so busy with the ten cars in the parking lot. Was offered a triage appointment in lieu of emergency and then was told right away oh they can't do that either. Don't bring your pets here because they do not care

Everything that could be wrong about an animal care facility, this place is; based off of my current last recent experience. Wen I had an ER ARISE WITH MY FURBABY, THEY TURNED ME AWAY WEN I HAD HER SUFFERING IN MY ARMS. IT WAS DISTASTEFUL TO SAY THE LEAST; BASED OFF THEIR REPUTATION, I EXPECTED A LIL MORE, ESP WEN YOUR IN THE BUISNESS OF CARING FOR THE WELFARE OF PEOPLE'S PETS AND THE QUALITY OF THEIR LIVES. BEING AVAILABLE IS OF MOST IMPORTANCE!!! IT WAS BEYOND FRUSTRATING AND MY VIEW OF LOOMIS BASIN FROM THIS ONE EXPERIENCE HAS DEF CHANGED MY ENTIRE PERSPECTIVE OF THEM. HIGHLY NOT RECOMMEND. ????????☹

Not told the truth several times, will call you wright back..mmmmm NOT! over charging. It seems they're using you love for your pet as a weakness for $$$$$. Be careful with your wallet.

It's not often I take to writing negative reviews as I understand - sometimes things just happen. However, as a long time customer of VCA - and someone who was willing to drive aross 3 cities to take my pets there, I have been so disappointed in the level of response / service the last couple of years. It could be COVID that changed things, but still, it's the LACK OF CARE & FOLLOW UP that could have made all the difference. Now it's the norm to call and BE ON HOLD FOR UPWARDS OF AN HOUR- just to get the chance to talk to someone about an appointment. Turn around times are over 24 hours, and lack of reasonable help is gone. My 7 year old lab, is constantly allergic with sensitive skin allergies. 1-2 times a year she has a reaction to things in the environment and becomes extremely itchy and sheds excessively and requires a prescription to help address it. Last Feb, I took her in and spent hundreds of dollars to get her seen and treated. I WAITED OVER 2 HOURS after my appointment, to get her presription. When I called this week 11/1/21 - I waited over 45 minutes to get through, was then told the only appointment was on 12/9. I asked if they could get in touch with the Dr. and just refill the Feb 2021 prescription for the same thing. They took over a day in 1/2 to get back, and said no. They'd see me on 12/9, or I could pay the emergecy / urgent appointment fee and get in sooner. This seemed unreasonable. As pet owners, we know our pets like we know our kids. Their illnessness, etc. I was willing to keep the 12/9 appointment to check in, but pleaded for help with the presciption, as my dog is loosing massive amounts of hair and is so incomfortable and I don't have the money to pay triple to just get what we know she needs. They didn't care. They just said - "ok - thanks for letting us know how you feel." If this is how you treat long time customers - why would stay. BE AWARE NEW CUSTOMERS - the reviews for EMERGENCY SITUATION REVIEWS ARE GREAT - The cost for help is high, but so is the need to help your pet. However, once you become a regular paying customer, their new model is to make it unrealistic to do anything outside of "URGENT/EMERGENCY CARE" HORRIBLE SERVICE. - SO disappointed. p.s. Thank you for the reply below from management. Unfortunately, I did try every attempt to talk with you prior to writing my review, even waiting on hold again, for over 30 minutes, and when I did get someone on your staff, and shared my dissappointment, she merely thanked me for sharing and ended the call.

First trip to any emergency for our dog and it was a pleasant experience. Wait time was long, but that's as to be expected, especially trying to get in on a holiday. They did take our dog back sooner than their estimation, but he was in there for about the time they expected. Doctor was very nice, she told us everything they would be doing for our dog and kept us up to date as they went, including up to date with cost which I thought was reasonable. Nice experience there overall.

I have always been a big fan of Loomis Basin Veterinary Clinic for so many years. Recently I have been shocked to be on hold for one & two hours at a time & many hours waiting for my dogs to be seen. I have sat in my car for 4 to 6 hours on several occasions waiting for my dogs to be cared for. My heart breaks that this is now the standard at Loomis Basin Vet. As I type this my hold time is 1 hour & 24 minutes as I try to get my new puppy cared for. I have to ask what will it take to overcome this breakdown of what used to be my favorite Veterinarian office. What can be done? Why is there not enough staff to meet the high demand. Our pets and families are impacted in huge negative ways. Life is already challenging enough & now this. I am beside myself with grief & loss of the care of my fur-babies. Update: the most recent care I have received at VCA Loomis Basin Veterinary Hospital has improved. I am so grateful for that.

We took our baby girl in yesterday after coming home to a wobbly lethargic girl, after only being gone for an hour. We had never been to the hospital previously. They took her in asap upon arrival, did blood work and spoke to us all within an hour to find out she had eaten something toxic. We were able to take her home and she was fine in the am after they had administer fluids and probiotics. The service and kindness we received was so professional and appreciated. Especially being our first time there. I was reluctant, due to the reviews, but given the urgency, we had no choice. We have never been pleased more, over the 40 years of owning animals, than we were with there service and concern from the people and doctors that work there.

Went there with my pup to see whats going on, told us she had parvo, horrible, told us the cost and we cant afford it so we had to make a decision either to wait a hopefully she gets better or let her go, we waited the next day took her to a local vet and turns out she was low on blood cells and fighting an infection and just need antibiotics and just rehydration which we can do. Almost lost a family member due to false presumptions… (the local vet did a parvo test and it came negative)

If I could give zero stars, I would. Took FIVE times of 20 minute hold time phone calls only to be placed as a Urgent Care patient because next appointment is December 2nd! They don’t warn you that you could be waiting for FOUR to FIVE hours as an Urgent Care patient over the phone btw. Sitting in lobby for TWO hours now and wishing I could walk out the door, but I’ve wasted two hours of my life already. Staff could care less about hold times, wait times, etc etc. I’ve actually never seen a staff more unconcerned to be honest. Cat has simple issue that could be solved quickly, but alas, he’s the least of their concern. No way I’m coming back here in the future unless I ABSOLUTELY HAVE TO because, as you well know Loomis Basin, you hold all the power in the relationship.

I have never been to a vet that had this little respect. Professionalism out the window. I waited 3.5 hours this morning to spend a total of 10 minutes with the doctor. Front of the house lost my paperwork within the first 2 hours of filing it out. Was basically brushed out the door with a probiotic prescription. And minimal information. Would never ever return to this money grab. Called back later in the evening to verify that the ensuing issues were normal and was laughed at by the doctor. incredibly unprofessional.

We have been customers at LBVC since 2008. Ever since VCA acquired the practice hold times are insanely long, appointments are booked out for months and the staff in general is very impersonal. We have had some amazing doctors over the years but after waiting over 4 hours in an empty clinic tonight, we will be taking our business elsewhere.

We've used Loomis Basin Vet for over 30 years, our dog regularly gets ear infections, they prescribe the SAME MEDICATION every single time, but they require to see the dog for 5 minutes, charge you $80+ for a visit, just to prescribe you the same medication they did 3 months earlier. Not to mention the fact they have an over month long wait to get into the vet. Loomis Basin Veterinary Clinic has CHANGED FOR THE WORST. All they care about is charging you for services. 30 years and over 12 dogs.. none of which will be going back to LBVC... I am truly disappointed in how LBVC operates, they have changed their objective from helping animals to GETTING INTO YOUR WALLET. DO NOT GO HERE, TAKE YOUR PET TO SOMEONE WHO ACTUALLY CARES someone who cares more about helping animals and not in sneaking into your wallet.

Normally, I love Loomis Basin. Over the years, they have been nothing but professional, especially when we have had to put animals down. However, I am finding it is getting harder and harder just to make an appointment to get my current animals shots. They used to go above and beyond in their responsiveness. Now, they let the phone ring and ring and ring. Today I called, and experienced "longer than usual wait times." Okay, I get it. Pandemic. Waited my turn. I started out as the 8th caller in line. Finally, the phone started ringing, surly, someone would pick up the phone. Waited almost 20 minutes of the phone just ringing, no response from anyone. Waited a total of 35 minutes without so much as someone getting on the phone, asking, "Thank you for waiting, can you please continue to hold?" I am getting very frustrated with this vet, and I am seriously considering taking my pets elsewhere. I have been going to them for 15+ years.

I woke up this morning knowing something was wrong with my dog. Drove Lucy to Loomis basin veterinary Hospital where they immediately took her and did blood test urine test and found out she had a urinary track infection. I thank them so much for taking care of her immediately figuring it out relieving her pain and sending me home with medicine. They’re amazing

Was pushed by VCA Loomis to sign up for the care club for my kitten to save money on urgent care costs and emergency costs but they consistently overbook their clinic so I can’t use said care club. My kitten was shaking, had a fever, wouldn’t eat and they told me there’s nothing they can do about it because they’re too full. Drove all the way to Elk Grove BY REFERRAL of Loomis, just to get told they don’t accept care club from Loomis so what the hell was the point in signing up for it if they’re going to be full for days and refer me elsewhere? Currently have been sitting in the parking lot for three hours because we’re not allowed in, finally got a call back and was told “we have no clue” — Do these people even care about animals at all?

Yesterday, my wife discovered our cat had been ran over on our street. After being turned away by 2 other vets due to "over capacity" and "not handling emergencies", she brought my poor buddy here. I left work and met them at this clinic. I told the nice lady at the counter I had an emergency, and I couldn't hold it together. She saw how devastated I was and was very caring and sympathetic of my situation. After he had gone through several hours of pain, my cat was brought into a room immediately from the car and was euthanized within 10 minutes. This was my first experience going through this situation, and all the staff was very kind, seeing a 6'4 350 pound man blubbering over a dead cat. I'm sorry I don't recall anyone's name there, but I want to thank you all for working swiftly to end Dwight's suffering.

It seems they have over expanded. Appointments are frequently weeks out. The end for us was our dog was in severe pain and unable to walk due to an infection and they were unable to provide a regular patient with urgent care. As a result, our dog passed after searching and finding a veterinarian that very likely was unfamiliar with the care of a Great Pyrenees. If you use Loomis Basin Veterinary Hospital for your regular care, do not expect them to be available to care for your dog in an emergency.

Under the sad circumstances of taking my 15yr old dog in to be euthanized, this was a very pleasant vet visit. Every staff member I had contact with was so sweet and compassionate for our feelings and as well as our dogs comfort and well being. As soon as we walked thru the door they had us taken care of. Very clean, and loved the outdoor option instead of the clinical room for our last good byes. Awesome service thank you Loomis Basin.

My father's dog was bit by a rattlesnake rather late at night. (11:30ish pm) on a Tuesday night. We did call ahead and where greater there by polite, kind and professional people who were ready to help. Not going to lie it is pricey but they did care for her and she came home in good spirits the very next day.

Simple and short these people are thieves don’t do business with them, especially if your pet is in a critical situation. They take every penny you have. Try Auburn Boulevard Pet Hospital. Disgusting!

I took my cat in after finding blood in his urine. He had FIC so we were used to flair ups and possible complications, but his regular vet had always treated it with anti-inflammatory medications to help the blockage pass. After an hour they let me know he was urinating freely. An hour and a half after that they asked if he had thrown up recently as he just threw up. Another hour and a half after that they pull me into a room and tell me he is completly blocked and dying, and it will be 3000-6000 dollars per night for him to have a catheter placed and kept until its cleared. And the doctor had no idea he had FIC even though I informed the nurse and had it placed on his notes. They kept my autistic sons best friend back there for 4 hours, and only thought to consult me on things after it was life threatening. Loomis basin killed my sons best friend by their neglect to act until the last possible second, which coincidentally happens to coincide with the most expensive treatment option.

This place is a total scam. I asked for a written prognosis twice and was promised I would receive it by lee. I never received it. It has been over a month. I asked for my dog's record and was given a partial record leaving the pages out with the most writing. I then asked for it at a later date and was told it was too many pages to print. I watched it print the first time and it took less than a minute. The web site states that records are available. The web site states a $25 examine. I had to pay $3700 to get in the door and was told by lee if I went past the first day I would need to pay $10,000 to $15,000 more. All of this does not seem true, but it is. After I paid $3700 I was told my dog was not going to make it through the day. Please do not use a VCA Clinic.

Called their 24 hour emergency last night at 12am informing them our dog was in pain and needed to be seen since he could not eat/drink as well as other strongly noticeable signs of pain. They informed me there was no room for any other ER visits and to call at 6am when the receptionist arrived, so we did just that. We called at 6am and they told us to come on in and our dog definitely needed to be seen, we show up at 7am and check him in. We have been sitting in the car waiting while other dogs with wagging tails and minor issues are being taken in, who have arrive after us..It took 2 hours for them to even come outside to evaluate the symptoms of my dog (not physically but information from us stating what we have noticed) it is now 4 hours of us waiting and our dog has yet to be seen as well as him still being in severe pain and whimpering (no food or water for now the 2nd day..) this is the second time we have came here, the first time was a awesome experience but I will not be returning after we get treatment done today. Very poor customer service and poor time management and terrible communication.

Dr. Hess is truly an angel albeit a blunt one which I liked instead of feeding me a lie to make me pay more she just gave me the truth even if i didnt want to hear it. while our sweet Cora passed away she truly went out of her way for us. I'd follow her anywhere if she leaves VCA. Dr. Hess is amazing. I will say though I think the front desk staff is allergic to the phone after 6pm.

Brought our dog in for emergency and waited 8 hours. When I called, they said that they were available right away to see our dog at 10:45pm. We are still waiting to go home at 7:45am!

They were just amazing, nice staff, vets, everyone involved with the handling of the visit. We were told what was going on every step of the way. Expected big bill for what was being done, shocked with bill so low, in a good way!

Brought my cat in because she had a foxtail lodged behind her eye and it caused an ulcer. They allowed me to come in same day and fixed her up so fast! I did have to travel a bit since other places didnt have openings. But nonetheless, I like this place!
