Paw Shoppe Pet Center Long Beach, California

This little tiny pet store is squeezed right between a dollar store and a rite aid, on spring Street. I would have never walked by if it wasn't for picking up medication. It was a cold day, and I don't know what happened to me but I looked to my left and I saw this little gray fuzzy ball, in the corner of the pet shop, and it was this little gray dude, with his little sister, and for several minutes I couldn't do anything except stare and become deeply moved, I honestly don't know what happened. I saw this innocent little angels that had been rescued from the streets of downtown Long beach, some of their brothers and sisters hadn't made it, they were the last two. They were cuddled with each other kind of like the yin and yang sign.. and as I looked at these little fuzzy balls of angel fluff something told me that I must do everything in my power to bring them home. Now they have a sister, and three kinds of food, reverse osmosis filtered water, the best litter, and outdoor balcony with multiple cat trees.... And they are enjoying their lives after going through so much. I wanted to say thank you to the paw shoppe pet center for giving these little babies a chance, giving them a temporary home until I could finally give them everything they deserved truly. The owner or manager of the store gave me a very heavy discount on the pair of cats as well, as well as a free bag of food and a small consultation concerning the welfare of the animals. I promised him and his staff that I would send them pictures of the cats growing up. The pet store itself is a little small, and they have a niche stock so you probably won't find stuff that you would find in a Walmart at this store. It's more premium things. But I found everything.. And Hadley and Freya are a chillin now Five ????

Love this place. I go here for my dog and cat food as my dogs have diary restrictions and my cats are even worse. I have also started using their groomer exclusively as he took the time to get to know my special needs dog and had an amazing relationship with her. This pace is the best and their groomer is above and beyond!

One of the only petshops that knows how to take care of reptiles properly, lets you interact with the animals(if you're experienced of course: it helps tame them), and has fair pricing on items -especially Crickets and Hornworms! The staff is always super knowledgable and helpful and the animals are all alert, bright, and healthy. There are birds in the front and some of them will climb on your finger if you are patient. Sometimes they have kitties and you can open the cage and pet the cats <3 They carry all sorts of reptiles that are always interchanging as they are sold: geckos, bearded dragons, monitors, chameleons, snakes, tarlantulas, turtles, and crabs are amoung the ones I've seen come and go within a month. In the back there are mice and rats that you can get - mainly for feeding reptiles, but one momma rat had babies and a family adopted the babies as pets :) In the very back there are polywogs, betas, fish, and guinea pigs! The piggies have a nice large two level pen and you can pet them gently (approach them from the front not the back). All of the prices of their items ar every affordable compared to mainstream petstores like Petsmart or Petco, and if you purchase a new pet along with it you get 10% off! The supplies they sell are high quality and if a product doesnt work for you you can return it. The owner loves dogs and makes his own yummy baked doggie treat biscuits that he sells at the front in a little display case. The cages they sell are clean and apt sizes for the animals they offer - they don't trick you into buying too small a terrarium for your reptile, or tell you to use sand like some mainstream petstores do. I highly recommend this petstore as there is always fresh delivery of goods whenever I come in (I will browse the animals for an hour or two a couple times a week) and they take proper care of their animals and supplies!

The people here are so nice and the customer service is great. They’ve got everything you’d need for your pet. They take great care of their animals. I got my pet rat, as well as her food, cage, and bedding from there. It’s in a great area too, next to a variety of stores. Definitely shop for your pets here!

My favorite place to buy dogfood...I used to drive to Silverlake, but not now. Everything is comparably priced and they have an amazing assortment of pet foods, supplies, treats, toys, etc. Plus, Peter, the owner, his family, and the employees are so very friendly. I love it there.

Small mom and pop store

My wife and I love this shop. This is the only place locally that carries the brand of high quality food out dogs eat. They have a great selection of pet foods, birds, rabbits, and some reptiles too. The staff is helpful and always remembers us. Prices are comparable to the larger chain stores but it's always nice to shop small businesses when you can.

Love this place: they have animals available for adoption from local shelters. The best type of pet store. Plus lots of pet food options, leashes, treats, reptile supplies and more.
