ALWAYS mess up on price. Even talked to them on the phone the night before to verify the price but they tried over charging me, again, $80. Also when I was explaining that she is overcharging me she rolled her eyes, they always have an attitude there.

Unacceptable treatment! On 11/29/2021, my male Yorkie with a one-week history of hematochezia was examine by Dr. Frerking. Abdominal x-rays were performed on that same day. My wife was told that we will be contacted within "one-two days" with the radiologist's interpretation of the abdominal films. However, after several calls to the office and front desk staff promises of a call back from Frerking to discuss the x-ray findings, we received no call-backs from anyone from the office. Today 12/10/2021 at approximately 9:24 am, 11 days after the initial visit, I contacted the office again and was told the Frerking would return my call to discuss the x-rays. An hour later, I did not hear from anyone from the office. Thus, I contacted Mastercard to reverses all charges, in which an investigation has been initiated. I live in Southern Highlands and do not recommend anyone utilize South Valley Animal Hospital for their pet care! There are too many animal hospitals in the Las Vegas Valley to have to tolerate suboptimal treatment. I will never visit this place again! Never! And, should anyone ask where to take their pets for veterinarian care, I know where I will tell them not to visit! Finally, the "hospital's" mission statement is the following: "To provide you the highest standard of veterinary care to all of our patients in a compassionate friendly and team-oriented environment." Taking 11 days and counting for call-back with x-ray interpretations is not the "highest standard," Dr. Frerking!

How can five females standing at the front desk with no customer put me on hold for 17 min. My small brain can't process this .

Always had a good experience at this place. Been taking my dog here for for 8 years now for his shots. They are Profesional and friendly with reasonable prices. Recently my dog was injured and the staff and the vet took good care of my dog and gave me options on treatments.

This place is a joke of a vet. All they care about is money. I took my cat there for surgery on his eye that has a tumor yesterday and got a call today stating they cant do the surgery because they wont do a payment plan due to an old account that went into collections and got paid off 100%. I now have to find a new vet to do the surgery and have my fur baby back to normal and cancer free. I will never take my animals to this place ever again.

I have taken my dogs here several times. The doctors and staff are always so friendly and kind. I live in the neighborhood so it makes it convenient when you have an animal hospital so close to home. They are very flexible with appointment times and if an emergency does arise they are more than willing to fit you in to get your pet looked at. Very clean and tidy facility!! Would recommend to anyone in the Southern Highlands area!

I’ve been taking my puppy here for a few months now and just had her spaded with Dr. Parker. She was kind and answered all of our questions (first time dog owner). Would highly recommend. They even called to check on her after surgery. Thanks again!

This place is poorly managed. Rarely will you get the same vet twice and a straight answer 1 out of 10 times. The front is always packed, not because of volume but due to slow ineffective staff. The rudeness and unprofessionalism is the standard there now.

I am sad to report that I will no longer recommend them! When we had our dog we were always treated fairly and never felt like the only interest was to pull cash out of our pockets! In fact 10 years ago the doctor can't remember name brought back our ashes with a frame that had Pablo's hair, paw print and picture we provided! Before he came to our home to put Pablo down! The last few times I have been given reports of how pets died after being charged an excessive amount, knowing that it would not help their pet to days later dying.

South Valley Animal Hospital. A word about Dr Hancock at South Valley Animal Hospital. I realized my dog was not doing well last week and made an appointment, I couldn't get in until yesterday. She ran a bunch of tests and told me he had diabetes, Cushings, Pancreatitis, a heart murmur, mitral valve disease and was in Diabetic Ketoacidosis. WOW, that's a lot wrong and I told her I thought it was too much for him to come back from and I probably had to make a decision. She made me feel like a murderer and said, oh, he can probably live a fairly healthy life, I just had to give him insulin every day and make sure he ate. After charging me $625.46 and sending him home, he died before I could even get him back to have him put to sleep, Less than 24 hours!!! All she cares about is the money!!!! She had to know there was no hope for him and if she didn't then she has no business being a Vet!!!

I needed a health certificate to travel internationally with my dog and my main vet couldn’t get me in for three weeks. I called several hospitals around the valley for information and with hopes they could get me in sooner. All the information I received was so convoluted that only left me frustrated and confused! Until I spoke with Sam at south valley, she was so kind and helpful. She took the time to contact APHIS directly to make sure we were processing everything correctly. We found out I needed the health certificate issued that day or else it would expire and she had no problem accommodating me. The office was clean and the staff and doctor were very friendly. They only charged me for the health certificate and didn’t add any extra expenses as I was getting quoted from other veterinarians. I can’t thank Sam enough for her help and due diligence. I’m now living in Italy with my fur baby and I couldn’t have done it without South Valley!

We absolutely love Dr. Frerking. He is excellent with our pups. I wouldn’t trust anyone else for their care. Unfortunately, the staff is not as great as it used to be. If you call, plan to be on hold (sometimes 20+ minutes). They never used to be like this. When their former office manager Michelle was there, things were so much better. Rarely a wait on the phone and insurance claims were always handled timely. I now submit my own claims because it takes too long to get any results.

As of yesterday I have been taking my two dogs to South Valley Animal Hospital. Their primary vet was Dr. Frerking. They use to be a really good vet and my dogs actually wanted to go in the building. After February 20 th it has been a struggle to get them through the door. That should have been a warning sign for me. But I kept going back. On February 20 th Dr. Frerking and his assistant let my 9 pound chihuahua jump off the exam table head first. She is a senior dog that will be 10 years old this August. She landed on top of her head and landed so hard it knocked her canine tooth out. All Dr. Frerking did was stop the bleeding. A couple of days later on Monday February 22 I called and complained that she was not walking well kept falling over and was having a hard time. He saw her and made no effort to do anything else but look at her meanwhile she had a hole in her jaw from the fall that he and his assistant allowed to happen. I asked if he needed to sew up the wound and he said no it could wait till she had her teeth cleaned. I found the lack of empathy that he showed for the accident that he and his assistant allowed to happen broke my heart.. That should have been enough for me to change vets. But no I just kept coming back. Both of my girls had their teeth cleaned a couple of weeks later. When the cleaning was over I was charged for the the repair to the opening where the canine tooth came out because Dr. Frerking and his assistant allowed Charlotte to fall off the table. To this day Charlotte has not fully recovered. She is still having problems from the fall. Yesterday was the last day that I will ever walk into South Valley Animal Hospital. My dogs needed to have their anal glands expressed and their nail trimmed. I took them yesterday morning at 8 am to have this done. They did not want to go in the building. I had to pull them through the door. When your animals are afraid of something. That should be a warning to listen too. I am sorry that I ever had this experience. I recommend if you care for your animals like I do. Take them to a vet that you can trust. I will never take my dogs back into this building for any services. If you would like further information feel free to message me.

Worst vet that you could go to due to the absolutely incompetent doctor, Dr. Thad Ferking. My dog has been extremely sick so we brought her in just for her to be completely dismissed by the doctor. Not only was his first question entirely inappropriate asking if my dog has been given THC but he could not give a single second for us to fully explain her symptoms. It was obvious that she was in pain and we were simply told that we just had to wait for the blood results that we would get within a few hours since it had to be sent out. I called every day for four days until I finally gave up and took her to a MUCH better vet. The new vet was astonished on how my dog was treated. It took them half of an hour for them to get ahold of this vet and find out that they did the blood test here and we were just never notified. Today we went to talk to the doctor, he came out and while trying to explain myself he did not listen to a single word that I said. In addition, he got tired of hearing his mistakes and got up and walked away, If you care about your pet in the littlest amount NEVER bring your pet here.

Surprised at the negative reviews. Keep in mind some people are never satisfied and impatient or are stressed because of their situation. These tend to get tunnel vision and take it out on those around them. People don’t normally post positive reviews. But they certainly post if they feel slighted or ripped off, even if it’s their own fault. Ratio of 5 star reviews compared to 1 tells me it’s a great place and to read carefully between the lines. Always friendly. never a long wait. We mainly go there because of Doctor Sterling Hovel. He spends the time you need to feel assured you're getting great treatment for your fury family members. Always honest with great recommendations for your pet. I feel like he really cares about our animals. I would love to see them expand to include avian and reptile care. A great place to take your little loved ones. Well, not grandma but you know, grandpa might appreciate the treats. A few criticisms though. You need to pump some of that dough (loot, gelt, $$$) you’re making into the place. It’s looking run down. If it looks bad in front I can imagine what the back of the house looks like. Start by power washing the urine off the pillars in front. Update some of that dated tile and paint the exam rooms.

Top notch! We live down the street. Not only was this vet location convenient for us, it’s clean, the entire staff is friendly, responsive, helpful with any questions I had and attentive to our puppies care. We LOVE Dr. Handcock and my FRUG (Frenchie/Pug) loves her and the entire team too! I would highly recommend this place!

If it wasn’t for Dr. Frerking, I would not be going to this hospital. He is an exceptional Vet, and loves what he does. This review only reflects my experience at the hospital a few months ago and the doctor assigned to our appointment. My family and I have been going to this hospital for our two dogs, meaning we’ve been loyal customers for 13 years. I visited them today as my senior toy Maltese has had an ear infection (which he has had a few times before), and just needed ear drops. Expecting to pay $50 for the check up fee and $20 for the drops, I walked out paying $150. I walked in knowing what my dog had, and they still ran a “test” for an additional $42 just to “make sure it’s an ear infection.” Again, I’ve had my dog for *13 years*. The doctor asked me if I wanted them to clean out my dog’s ears without mentioning the price, posing the questions as if they’ll do it as a gesture of goodwill. But I asked if it was extra, and of course it was - $45!!! I don’t even know what the $50 check up fee is for. They never mention pricing for anything, for example, “We can clean your dog’s ears for an additional $45.” I work in sales and know customer retention, and this hospital lacks expertise in both.

I have been going to South Valley Hospital for almost 7 years. Although I really like my three dogs doctor, I'm very proturbed by the way he chooses to give my dogs X-Rays without my authorization. Three years ago I gave authorization to x-ray my dog. South Valley Animal Hospital detected nothing with their x-ray machine. We had to take him to the emergency dog care within 2 days because of his rapid decline. The emergency hospital said the X-rays from SVAA were poor quality and they had to do new X-rays. Immediately they knew the problem with my dog. I shared this story with my current doctor at SVAA. They took my dog into the back for the doctor to look at him. The doctor chose without my authorization to do X-rays and to have a radiologist look at the X-rays. The doctor saw nothing and apparently neither did the radiologist because my doctor never called me as promised. They charged me $304 without my authorization. Approximately one month before that, they took my girl dog back and the same doctor performed X-rays without my authorization. $220 to see nothing. Apparently my doctor thinks it is okay to perform services without asking for permission or authorization. This happened to me in November and December of 2020. I consider this type of practice to be equivalent to theft. I was stupid enough to pay for X-rays I never authorized. Until SVAA returns my money, I will view them as the local pet veterinarian villains.
