In the process of looking for a dog to give a loving home and to spoil rotten this shelter has a lot of dogs however the reviews are terrible and I had actually heard from somebody that they had trouble with this place so I will bypass this place which is too bad because we are willing to give a loving home to a dog and these people at this place look like they do not want to have the dogs adopted the employees seem to be very rude

Terrible experience with this company! From reading other reviews I suppose we were lucky enough to be approved to adopt a dog. However, they had a contract with the shelter dogs are adopted through that says the dogs must be neutered by 6mo of age and our veterinarian strongly felt that the breed shouldn’t be neutered until 1yr of age. They accused us of fraudulently writing the letter our vet wrote to them with this recommendation and then threatened to sue us!! We were in absolute shock!! We were forced to neuter our dog way too early. They clearly they do not have the dogs best interest at heart!! Our dog had to have surgery on two knees by the time he was 2yrs old and died when he was 5yrs old from an aggressive form of lymphoma, despite doing every treatment possible for him, including chemotherapy. I can’t say it was all due to the early neuter but it still leaves a bad taste in my mouth and we miss our boy dearly. At least we know we gave him the best life possible!

I love this rescue ! I adopted my Peaches from them and they offered training and other services to make sure things worked out.

I wish I could give them a ZERO stars. I'm a single mother with a 14 year old son. We lost my husband 5 year ago and we had to give up our dog because we needed to move. I explained the entire story, how my husband passed away suddenly and we lost our house. But, we found her an amazing new home (we even still get updates on her). The person "Sean" I spoke with was very condescending and almost rude! I explained that we settled down and we stable again and my son needs a companion and something to love. Well I guess that was the wrong thing to say. He proceeded to tell me that a 14 year old changes what they want all the time and in 4 years they will be moving out and then what??? I explained it would be my dog too. He responded. Ok well we are done here. Someone will contact you with our decision. I can't believe how judgmental an animal adoption agency can be, I am very disappointed. I am going to go to the local animal shelters and find an animal who needed a home instead of paying close to $500.00 for a dog and get talk to like that. DO NOT RECOMMEND! P.s That dog would have been spoiled rotten with us.

BEST. ADOPTION. EXPERIENCE. EVER. I’ll be honest, we almost didn’t adopt our little pup from TLRD because of the reviews on here. I decided to go for it anyway because, really, I would have taken the puppy from anyone if it meant he found his happy forever home. Boy, was I relieved when our experience was AWESOME every step of the way. From finding the lil pup in the posting, to our application and phone interview, our meet and greet, to the final GOTCHA day, TLRD went above and beyond! They did SO much for our guy and clearly take such good care of all these animals. Joanna, the foster of our boy and his momma and the rest of the litter, was so kind and helpful and just a fountain of information and helpfulness. When they got late results from the vet that he needed a little medicine (we’d already taken him home) she brought the prescription to our doorstep! Just to make sure the pup got the medicine he needed as soon as possible! I could go on and on but in short, they are honest, genuinely care that these animals find good homes, give tons of helpful info; and are great to work with!! 10/10

Awesome dog rescue. Upon their recommendation we adopted jojo. He turned out to be the greatest dog ever.

Extremely unprofessional shelter. Went to an adoption event today with hopes of bringing a puppy into our new home, and was reject by Jessica before even getting the chance to ask a question. When I asked why we would not be able to adopt she immediately just shut us down then proceeded to answer a phone call while in the middle of a conversation with us. These people really do not have the dogs best interest in mind, and skimming through the other reviews this seems to be the case with everyone else. Look elsewhere, they really do not care here by any means. I just feel bad for the dogs.

Well Let's see I was rejected to adopt 2 dogs and I already have 2 dogs that are very happy I had 4 dogs and 2 passed on last year I called this so called rescue and tried to talk to somebody but you can't So I got an email that I have been rejected to adopt this dog that I was looking at because they thought I was not a good fit I asked them what do you mean we are not a good Is fit for this dog of course I receive no response this place is a sorry excuse for a rescue for a rescue for a rescue for a rescue for a rescue for a rescue for a rescue for a excuse for a rescue on their website they state there is a 107 dogs euthanized in California alone daily well if you guys made it easier for people and good loving homes like mine and my kids to adopt the dog that might not be the case. Fortunately I went to a local shelter and rescued a very beautiful blue nose pit and we're extremely happy with him but I just wish companies like the little red dog don't lie to people And say they are in it for the dogs

My daughter and I looked long and hard for the pet we wanted. Melinda interviewed us after our application and was very thorough and informative. We got the email a week later that we had been approved and we did pre adoption yesterday and will bring home our Jack/chi puppy this Saturday! Great rescue!

The negative reviews of this place are spot on. I feel so bad for the animals in their care as it is clearly not a priority to find these pets loving and capable homes. What other purpose do they have? Isn’t the goal to find these pets homes? I filled out an application and was sent a zoom link. We were so excited we joined the zoom meeting a day early only to find out we had the wrong date so I called and let them know and apologized. I won’t blast the middle man (even though he gave me attitude and wasn’t even remotely apologetic after our encounter) however Steve is not equipped for this job. We joined the zoom meeting on the correct day and time. We had our laptop connected and phone on stand by with the meeting ID incase something went wrong on the computer. We were greeted with “Host is in another meeting” so we waited. And waited and waited. 15 minutes go by and we receive a rejection email saying our application wasn’t chosen?? I emailed the middle man again (let’s call him JP) well JP says that Steve waiting on the meeting and no one joined. I let him know that was impossible as we’ve been waiting. I gave him proof and his only response is he “doesn’t know what happened”. Okay that’s fair but moving forward if Steve is the supposed boss conducting these interviews why does he have a middle man and why doesn’t he email or call the people he’s meeting with? Their work processes make no sense. JP gave me attitude and wished us the best of luck (cute- passive aggressive) to which I said actually best of luck to those dogs. These poor animals have these two in charge of their well being, how unfortunate. In the future try sending the correct meeting information!! You’re deprived those puppies we applied for of a very loving, active family with lots of land and a sibling.

I adopted my sweet pup from TLRD and had a great experience. PJ and the foster family have been incredibly helpful and thorough in guiding us through every step of new puppyhood. Our puppy came to us clean, well loved, microchipped, in good health, all vaccines covered and we are receiving ongoing support. PJ even offered to send a trainer to our home for our struggles on a leash. It’s evident that TLRD cares deeply about the dogs they find homes for. I’m so grateful we adopted from an agency that knows their stuff and is prepared to teach humans how to raise a healthy, happy dog.

This is based solely on our first interview with Carlo, and emails back and forth between us and TLRD. The initial interview experience has gone well. You can tell that Carlo is well informed on type of breeds and training requirements. It was a thorough interview, which should be expected with how often dogs are brought back to rescues/shelters. We are still going through the interview process, as we are interested in a power breed. I can't speak yet fully on the adoption process. Reading through previous reviews, I am uncertain where the hostileness is coming from. Perhaps disappointment from not receiving a dog.. Everyone that we have interacted with thus far, has shown a dedication to the dogs at their shelter. Rescue facilities aren't put in place to make you feel comfortable and quickly give you the dog of choosing; they are made to have the dog feel comfortable in the best home suited for them.

Applied, then made an appointment to speak to some guy named Sean. Never called at the appointment time. I emailed them then they said they're running late on other appointments. Got the call and spoke with Sean. The guy talked down to me and was passive aggressive. I told him about my experience with my dog and why I wanted another. Everything I told the guy, he obviously wasn't listening. He said that i said that i leave my dog alone all day and that that's why he has separation anxiety. I never said that, I corrected him. He had already made his mind up before calling me with the attitude he had.

Very Very poor experience with this rescue. Applied for multiple dogs, and with in 20-30 minutes of both applications we received generic response that we were not fit for these dogs. Which is fine if that is really the case but due to the lack of questions about us even asked in the application seems hard to assume we are a poor fit for a dog. We sent emails to ask what about our application doesnt suite the dogs we were interested in and received no further information. Overall not a good experience with The Little Red Dog. Wouldnt recommend them, which doesnt look like many people would with the same exact complaints that I have had.

Same issue as with other people - I put an application in for a dog (same breed I already have, fenced-in yard, work from home) and was told I am "capable but not the right fit" without further explanation. This place does not seem interested in homing dogs.

Inquired about adopting a puppy. They had me fill out an application and I received an email shortly after saying “we think you’re capable but not a good fit”. Makes absolute no sense since they didn’t ask any more questions and made assumptions. Way to discourage a first time adopter! I would not recommend this place. They claim to be experts but have no intention of getting these dogs homes with people who will love and care of them. Thankfully we’ve been able to work with other dog adoption agencies and they have been more than helpful and willing to let us adopt. So appreciative of their ability to not judge based on an application.

I applied for adoption but was denied. I'm a veteran and homeowner in a nice neighborhood with a big family. Unfortunately that wasn't good enough. Could be my race. Who knows.

I just submitted an application and was automatically denied for no reason what so ever! These people are not trying to adopt anything out! You cannot even contact anyone to talk to. DO NOT INQUIRE THEY WILL BREAK YOUR HEART AND DISCOURAGE YOU FROM TRYING TO ADOPT ANYTHING ANYWHERE! They are yuppies looking for a tax break!

I have applied for two different dogs from this organization. Within minutes of filling out the application I was automatically denied. How sad that they are willing to keep dogs from loving families like this. There is no reason whatsoever we should have been denied, especially that quickly. So incredibly disappointing.

Not a great experience. They called me late for my phone interview, spent about 3 minutes talking to me and then sent me a generic email a few days later telling me I wasn't a good fit. I work from home, am great with animals, have a good job, a perfect yard. I had the same breed before and get free veterinary care but somehow I'm not a good fit. They give you zero justification for their decision and don't spend any time trying. Worst I've dealt with so far.

This is the worst place ever. The man that says he is part owner does not care to get the dogs a good home. He is rude and uncaring.

They’re adoption system is completely fraud. I was immediately rejected without conversation because I worked a full time job, no question about what my flexibility was or how strong of a commitment I had to the dog in question. They claim they are trying to save lives, and yet have such a frigid adoption policy that they are preventing dogs from reaching good homes just because we aren’t rich enough to have a full time dog career. Frankly I am saddened and offended by the email replies I got and the brisk nature of Steve the adoption coordinator. Definitely would not recommend, which is a shame because I wasn’t all those poor puppies to be adopted.

I adopted my Chiweenie puppy from TLRD in March of 2014 and can honestly say that I've had the best experience with this organization. PJ was very nice and wonderful to work with during the adoption. She was readily available when I …

My wife and I are seniors in HB and our Jack Russel of16 years past 4 months ago. We saw a sweet dog on their website and completed an application to adopted her. My wife called and inquired about the dog and when they told us the fee, which was more than double the fee at the other adoption centers, we informed them we weren’t willing to pay that much. Within minutes after we hung up, we received a rude message saying we were not a suitable fit for adopting their pets. They may be good with pets, but they need to learn some tact in dealing with customers and not make broad assumptions based on a phone call!!!

I'm starting to think that all rescue groups run in packs, well at least the ones I have been dealing with! After almost two months of looking for a mother pit bull and her seven puppies that I took in from Carring Songs For All Creatures I have found that some things are not what they seem to be. Yesterday I received a phone call which I was hoping would be good news only to find out that Little Red Dog Inc. isn’t any better! After finding out where the puppies were I went through the application process and was immediately rejected and that isn’t what bothered me, what bothered me is the fact that this particular place didn’t return a phone call etc. how do you determine someone that does fostering, rescuing and adoptions unfit without even speaking to the individual? The sad part is that this mother and puppies were and are a huge conversation in my home and for some reason I feel like they are trying to keep me from them and they are succeeding which is sad because that mother and her pups were in a loving home and now her puppies are being sold for profit and the mother is missing. So to anyone that is considering rescue groups please and I repeat please do your homework and as for the two places I have listed I would avoid the first one Caring Songs For All Creatures at all costs!!!

What a fantastic experience we had adopting our new furry family member! Steve puts the dogs first and makes sure they are the perfect fit for each family. Both Steve and PJ were so helpful and made the experience that much better. Highly recommend!
