Growing up we adopted all our cats from this shelter. We adopted at least 5 cats from here over the years. I found out years later that I am allergic to cats so decided to go to the shelter and adopt a cat-sized dog. I had a dreadful experience much like the other bad reviews here. I can't understand why the city doesn't do something about the attitudes of these atrocious women. And don't even bother to respond with your canned response of: "We apologize if you did not have a good interaction with a shelter staff employee or volunteer; however, anyone that visits the shelter can clearly see that all animals at the Laguna Beach Animal Shelter are loved and well-cared for..." How can they be loved when the humans that are taking care of them are sad, angry people?

Today I adopted a brother and sister from the Laguna Beach Shelter. When I went in the first time, it was so clean and all the dogs looked very well cared for. I put in my application and they chose me! I am so lucky! Every person I spoke with on the phone or in person was absolutely awesome! Professional and very much an advocate for the animals. Thank you for all you do and for trusting me to adopt these awesome puppers!!!!

I went there about 4 years ago to apply to become a volunteer. No greetings upon my entrance but just staring at me. Gave me papers to fill out and told me to wait. They needed to do a police or background check. Never heard from them again.

Such a cold hearted employee! An old lady with bangs, hair to the shoulder! With no feelings in her eyes and mean behavior. Dogs barking because they are not being take care of. It is such a bad atmosphere. Does volunteers have to be volunteers? Or it is by their choice? The poor animals are suffering there. I see the reply to one of the complaints! You can see through the respond/reply the coldness! And zero compassion for animals and people who wants to adopt them. I wish someone could hear!

I came here to donate a bunch of dog food and the workers were so rude! I was DONATING high quality dog food and they acted like I was a nuisance. Not a “welcome” upon entering, not a “thank you for donating” before leaving, the only communication I received was a glare from the front desk person and a “put it over there” from another worker. I feel sorry for the animals that have to be around those humans.

Absolutely terrible service! The people are cold and obviously don't take care of the dogs! One employee even yelled at a dog telling it to shut up! Dogs and cats do not deserve this kind of behavior. If I could, I would rate this place 0 stars. (PLEASE COME HERE TO SAVE THE DOGGIES FROM THESE TERRIBLE PEOPLE)

It is as though they do not want you to adopt their animals.... The people who work there in general are terrible at their job sadly. Poor sweet animal.....

They kidnapped my dogs when i was taken into the emergency room and refuse to take my calls or give me any information.

HORRIBLE. Cant even describe the staff and service. Cold, angry, obviously didn’t want to be there, and honestly didn’t care for the animals well being.

Worst attitude towards any one who walks in the door. The staff should not be taking care of (NOT) animals. They hate life!

this shelter is amazing! nice people, super comfy areas for dogs with playing areas, and sleeping areas! I totally recommend here.

After losing my Schipperke to illness, almost 12 years old last June, I began searching for another, a few months later. The staff here was rude, cold, and actually told me at 62, I was too old to adopt a puppy?!!! They also made lame excuses why I had to keep coming back for 'visiting' hours, as I was interested in one particular (older) dog. I never went back and found the PERFECT dog at the Seal Beach animal shelter, AMAZING STAFF AND SELECTION!! Molly, an incredible 3 year old Havanese mix is one happy dog, AND I'm blessed to have her in our lives!! When you work and/or volunteer, you should treat people with kindness and respect. It costs nothing - and after six months of waiting to write this - I feel it's important. I hoped it had changed, but now that my friend lost hers, she was treated the same way just last week!! Sad - very sad!!

Went in twice to look at the dogs to adopt one for my grandmother because she's alone but the staff are very unfriendly, rude and not helpful. seen friendlier staff at the post office than here. Way to go to motivate people into adopting, very sad.

i visited a dog for times at his shelter. They sent a dog catcher to look at my backyard. I live in a lovely home in laguna Beach. I never heard from them again. They kept this dog in a cage for a month instead of releasing it to a loving secure home. I will never return to this shelter.

I adopted Taboo, a German Shepard chow mix in early December 2000. Good dog, we had her for 14 years... One day my dad tried to get rid of her and she ended up back that this pound. Employees were not letting me get her back, not unless I paid $100 a day. I just moved out to go to college and I wanted to take her with me. She was family :( End of story is she got euthanized and I couldn't do anything about it. Horrible customer service!!!!!

I have been to shelters all over orange county. Large and small. I have cried at most. This shelter put a smile on my heart. I smelled NOTHING. The kennels were spotless. The staff was friendly. I wish I could bottle what they are doing. Keep up the great work.

Terrible! Found this little dog wondering the Laguna beach streets, gave it some food and it became attached to me. Can't have dogs so I took it to the Laguna Beach Animal Shelter. They told me to take the dog back to where I found it! Call the dog catchers! Wait till they came and got her! And then when I left they came outside to write down my license plate like as if I would just leave the dog outside. Terrible women.
