We took our cat here for an abscess & discovered kidney disease. Dr. Sanders provided excellent care & I liked him. However, the prescription food racket they have going on here is next level. Our cat was prescribed a renal diet, fine, no problem. I bought some cans of food to see what he liked. That very night I came home & placed an order on Chewy for the food they recommended along with food & items for my other cats as well. This is convenient for me, going to the Vet's office frequently is not. Dr. Sanders told me on the phone that my Chewy order would be approved when I asked him about it. My order never progressed. I went back to the office for more food because I had no choice and inquired about the Chewy process. I was informed that they do not work with Chewy and was given a card for a "trusted website". They also did not have all of the food I required for my cat, they had NO dry food. I came home and IMMEDIATELY placed my order. We are now closing in on five days later and my order has still not been approved or shipped. Our cat needs more food, so my husband went by after work as the website and the building say they are open until 6. They were closed, well before 6pm. He was able to speak to someone who REFUSED to provide us with the prescription we need to purchase the food elsewhere. FOOD THEY DON'T EVEN HAVE IN STOCK. In the end, it should not matter WHO *WE* choose to buy our food from, the important part is that my cat gets the proper diet he needs to thrive. They have proven that they care more about dollars than animals in doing so. I will not be forced to buy food from a 3rd party website that they get kick backs from which also has terrible service. I have already made an appointment with another vet as I have no time or patience for these kinds of games. I know several people who's Vet provides them with a paper prescription so that they may purchase food whichever way is most convenient to them. Isn't a happy client & healthy pet the end goal? The sad part is I was going to move the rest of my animals to this practice as well. There is no way on God's green earth I would do that now & will recommend to all I know to stay away. Absolutely shameful. Our pets are family and they deserve better. We are families, not cash machines and nobody has time for this nonsense. ***Edit: Nobody was EVER "happy" to provide us with a paper prescription, that is a bald faced lie. It was never offered to us. It should have been given when the food was prescribed, but you are too busy trying to skim money from clients for food sales. The Customer Service call I received this morning should have gone like this: Hi this is (name) from San Benito Veterinary. I was made aware of your review this morning and I wanted to reach out to you to apologize for the negative experience you had in our office. We have gone ahead and prepared Sox's prescription and it is here in the office available for you pick up. Again, we are very sorry about the confusion & I will make sure to revisit proper protocols for "prescription diets' with my staff. Thank You & have a good day. This is a proper Customer Service response. I have been in Customer Service for 30+ years, you guys have a lot to learn. Get it together & treat your clients like human beings. A little bit of compassion goes a long way & it's FREE. Had I received a proper apology, I would've had no problem retracting my reviews. Instead, you doubled down and tried to gaslight me, which I was fully prepared for. Of course I got angry as would've anyone else in my shoes. My reviews stand. Its an absolute disgrace & you should be ashamed of yourselves. You're supposed to be the professional here, NOT ME. Act like it.

I am extremely grateful to the vets and assistants for saving my puppy's life after a botched spay surgery at a different local vet. My cockapoo, Joy, would likely have died if it wasn't for San Benito Vet Center. She had a horrific stitch job and major infection after her spay, became lethargic and antibiotics weren't working. Her abdomen under the incision started becoming inflamed and swelling 3 days after surgery and I knew this wasn't good. Obviously I didn't want to return to the original vet that caused this. I was very thankful when SBVC graciously agreed to see her immediately and performed surgery that same day to clean the abscess, insert a drain, prescribe stronger antibiotics and pain meds. They followed-up by seeing Joy every couple days to make sure she was healing well. Thank you Dr. Sanders for saving her life so that Joy can continue to be my hubby's emotional support through his chemo therapy.

My dog was bitten in September which resulted in a large abscess about two days after the initial bite. I called the San Benito Vet to see if they could get him in to see him, but their scheduling was too far out and he needed to be seen ASAP. I took him to Monterey Pet Specialists and they took care of Tito (Over $1,000) and suggested he be seen by his regular vet ASAP. I called the next morning and they sounded annoyed that his ER vet suggested a follow up. I was told to drop off Tito and that they would see him in between appointments. We dropped him off at 8AM and didn't get him back until almost 7PM (YES AFTER THEY HAD CLOSED). His vet visit at San Benito wasn't expensive, but since it was all part of the same incident, his insurance needed all of the notes for all of the vet visits. My husband and I have spent weeks calling, being placed on hold for over an hour at a time, being sent to voicemails, being told that the records would be "emailed tomorrow" and at one point I had to drive down there in person and speak with Bree the manager. I told her that all of Titos notes needed to be sent to our insurance and she only sent one set of notes, not the entire set like we had requested. So now here we are. In November with over $1,000 owed to me by my insurance, but unable to be paid out because San Benito Vet can email over a full set of notes.

Love this vet. The two Dr.Sanders and Dr.Ruth are always so helpful when it comes to any questions or concerns. I’ve noticed to that they are usually booked out because of how busy they are but they always try to get your pet in as a drop off. Your pet may stay there longer than an appointment but they are getting you in faster instead of waiting for an open appointment spot. Even with how busy they are the techs are always kind. I take my dog in once a month for b12 shots and theyre usually always quick!

Kept my dog in a cage all day to tell me the same thing they did when I dropped him off at 7:30am. Still has the same problem. Ridiculous. Awful treatment!!

Was referred by a friend when we had gotten our pup. The techs are great with her and she’s always been excited to see them when we arrive to the office. They’ve been great since we started going there, but had a bad last experience prior to her getting spayed w the front office in general. She had to be placed on liver supplements and we were told initially it’d be ready for pick up on a Monday, when we checked they hadn’t come in yet. We were told Wednesday it should arrive, so we checked in again. Was told Thursday. Called then, again nothing. I believe we ended up getting the medicine the following Monday. I asked the receptionist whether the medicine had been ordered as it was feeling a bit ridiculous being told to continually wait. She caught some attitude with me and rudely said on the phone “we’ll call you when it comes in, thanks. Bye.” There was no acknowledgement that yes, it had been a bit of a wait. Disappointing nonetheless to get that after all we are paying for services, we had good experiences from the beginning, and the least we could get is some understanding of our frustration. Also frustrating how we had asked for 1/3 of a form to be completed and told we’d get a call within 24-48 hrs when it’s completed & still no follow-up. I haven’t even asked for it because what’s the point, it’s hard to get someone to answer the phone anyway during office hours. Good techs, but unfortunately the front office needs some adjustments.

It was awesome. We pulled up 5 minutes before our appointment and were acknowledged in the parking lot immediately. A tech came and got our kitty soon after that and her sutures were removed and then she was returned to us within what seemed like 5 minutes. I can't imagine a better experience. I would just recommend parking in the side lot instead of the spaces off the street facing the front of the clinic, as it can be hard to back out into traffic.

Easy access, fast service and caring staff. Only complaint is getting in and out of the parking off of Sunnyslope can be tricky... best to park along side the building.

I have had 4 negative interactions with this office in the past 30 days. When we arrived at the office on May 23rd for our 2 dogs checkup/vaccine appointment I called to check at 3:16pm (the appointment was at 3:20pm), I spoke with someone in the office, gave my parking spot number, and type of vehicle I was in. We sat waiting for them to come out to get our pups. It was obvious they were pretty busy so we waited patiently. At 5:15pm they came out to get our information, went inside to check on the appointment, came back outside and informed me since I was so late to my appointment there would be a wait. I showed my call history where I called as soon as I arrived to check it and it became obvious that the girl I spoke with never checked us in. We received a “whoops we must have forgotten” and that was it. On Monday, June 14th I called in because after picking my dogs up from boarding my male had a fairly decent sized bump on his snout. I described the situation and was told it didn’t seem like an emergency so an appointment was scheduled for Thursday. My son was in the car and heard me verify Thursday multiple times. On Thursday, June 17th I called to verify the time and was told it was on Friday. The person I spoke with asked me the issue so I again described the situation, except this time I could verify that he was eating and drinking fine. At this point I was told this was considered an emergency and I had to bring him in immediately. I pushed back because I already had an appointment 24 hours later and he had already waited 4 days at this point. After she checked with the Dr. it was confirmed that this was not an issue that could wait and they would not be willing to see him tomorrow since it was now considered an emergency. Fine. I brought him in immediately. I was provided an estimate for services including medication as it was almost guaranteed he would need antibiotics at a minimum. I was told the estimate was for the most basic amount of medication he would need. I had to call back right before closing because I never heard anything and was told “oh yeah, he’s ready to go” that they were busy and unable to call me. There was no emergency. He was fine. They weren’t sure why his snout was swollen but he would be sent home with antibiotics. When picking up my dog I expressed my frustration in this matter the Dr. ended up coming out to speak with me and stated that if I had told them he was eating just fine it shouldn’t have been considered an emergency. I did provide that information on the phone that morning. I simply got an “I’m sorry”. The antibiotics were written to dispense 2 pills 2 times a day for 10 days. They only gave us 20 pills rather than the 40 that would be necessary. 40 pills being the minimum amount he would need for treatment. The minimum amount of medication that is being dispensed which I was told was included in the original estimate. Now I’m being charged additional for their mess up in being unable to calculate how many pills are necessary for the treatment they prescribed. In the past 30 days I have spent over $1600 on their check up/vaccines and this supposed emergency fee that was not an emergency. Now I am being charged more due to ANOTHER error on their part. The only offer of apology I received was 20% off of the medication..which some how turned into 10% off…which then turned into 20% off plus 10% off? I will no longer be using this office due to the terrible communication, forcing an emergency vet fee on me, and misprescribing of medication.

This clinic has always been exceptional when it comes to care for my dog. All the staff is very accommodating when it comes to appointments especially in emergency situations, which is rare for vet clinics. All the Dr.’s and technicians are amazing and treat your pet as their own. They go above and beyond when it comes to service and care.

Very pleased with the care given to my cat! ❤ San Benito Veterinary Center was able to squeeze her in for an emergency visit despite their fully booked schedule, and both the veterinarians and technicians were helpful, nice, and professional. I think the technician we spoke with was named Mona; she did a great job at alleviating our concern and ensuring that our cat was happy and well taken care of during her visit! Both veterinarians we spoke with seemed very knowledgeable about our cat's health concerns and they sent her home on some medications that should help. We received a nice check in phone call and easily scheduled a follow up visit. Oh, and the texting line is an amazing addition! I was able to text photographs and ask questions pertaining to my cat and her medications, even after hours. Overall I'm delighted with my experience here so far, and my cat seemed not to mind her visit much (I was told she behaved very well) ❤

Love the people. They took me in on a moment's notice. The Vet called me with all her findings and instructions on home care. The only draw back is I find them to be very expensive.

We had a horrible experience with this incompetent vet and their staff. They have the worst customer service, they do not check in on you after your pet has a major surgery and they do not take time to walk you through possible …

After finding a lump on our dogs behind we took him to his vet in Watsonville. It was determined that it needed to be removed. A friend of mine referred me to San Benito veterinary clinic which is conveniently located down the street from my house, for a 2nd opinion. As you can see the removal through them is far less expensive on top of that they were far more informative and helpful. If you’re looking for a local vet look no further!
