I did a trail ride here, the trails are amazing and have great views of Lake Folsom. All the horses are very well trained and friendly, the staff are helpful and friendly also.

Great guide, the route taken was excellent great scenery! Kola and 3 were awesome horses. Highly recommend, definitely will be back!

I have been boarding here for over a year and a half now, and could not be happier. Kamal is an amazing person and responsive to his boarders. Kurim is awesome at helping to take good care of the horses. Between the two of them they are on top of things. If anything ever seems off with my horses, they let me know about it immediately. My horses are happy here and therefore so am I. This barn wouldn't be the same without them.

I have been doing lessons with Abe for about 5 months now. He is kind, patient and funny. He has taught me all the fundamentals of being a western rider and I’m loving every lesson.

I went here once for a trail ride the day after my birthday. Very professional and experienced trail ride guides. I loved this place and wish i could come back. They have beautiful horses and a very thoughtful agenda. I believe they gave me a horse called Buck? He was the perfect horse. Also they picked the right horses for my whole family! (Hercules, Rango, and 2 Rocky Mountains whom I have forgotten the name of). The trail ride was very beautiful and scenic. Also the guide had a very beautiful albino. Please consider coming here if you are a horse crazy person like me! Anyone who rates less than 5 stars is an absolute critic...

Boarding on the Lake is an absolutely beautiful stable and offers one of THE BEST trail rides I’ve ever experienced (and I’ve been horseback riding since age 6, internationally, so I’ve had my fair share of experiences to compare this with). The horses seem so well-kept and trained, and I felt truly safe and at peace during majority of my ride. I’m a night shift RN having just come off a 12-hour shift and 8-hour flight to Sac visiting a friend, and this was our very first activity together. It was certainly just what I needed to relax and reconnect with the world. However, I felt compelled to review (open and honestly) and offer somewhat of a warning to protect any African-Americans interested in patronizing this business. During the ride, our instructor and guide, Abe, made a comment prior to us riding downhill, directed solely at me, not to lean back “like a gangster”. While I could have said something in that moment, I didn’t. It’s exhausting being a nurse in 2021, but more-so it’s mentally draining being Black in America. I had zero energy to give in addressing that comment at that moment. However, it was disgustingly inappropriate. My friend actually called to complain and the response offered was dismissive and subpar, with another employee stating that the comment was meant jokingly. But that’s the problem, there were four other people on the ride (all white), me being the only African-American, yet I was the only who that comment was directed to. Why? Likely due to the color of my skin or some strange notion that I somehow would connect with said “joke”. Well, I did not connect. The reference was wrong, and rather than being able to give a 5-star review, I’d like to leave 0.

This is a fantastic establishment! My horse has his very own stall and pasture and I have a tack room all to myself. I will attach a photo of my beautiful animal his name is, Peanut butter lips!

I have been taking lessons with Veronica the last 5 weeks and I honestly have no plans for stopping. There pricing is VERY reasonable I have encountered nothing but a community who loves horses and learning everytime I go. Veronica is very encouraging, has A LOT of knowledge, is gracious in her lessons but still pushes me to be the best I can be for me and the horses! I am also taking a trail ride and was very impressed with how quick the responses were from Cal the owner of the ranch. Overal it is a great place to learn and grow!

I feel so lucky to have found this gem. My daughter asked to go horseback riding for her birthday, and Boarding on the Lake did not disappoint. The horses are well trained and obviously well cared for, the guide was very knowledgeable and helpful throughout the ride, and the views were beautiful. Could not have asked for a better experience. Recommending this place to anyone interested in going on a ride, and hoping to come back soon ourselves.

These guys a re awesome it was a great ride by the lake and their pricing is is to cheap comparing to the ride i would definitely do it again

I had an awesome experience. My girlfriend and I booked a trail ride for Valentines weekend and we both had a blast. I grew up riding and this was my girlfriend’s first experience riding and it could not of gone better. Our guide, Mo, had amazing energy and really made the whole ride a perfect experience for her and I. We will definitely be going back soon, hopefully for a longer ride!

My husband and 8 year old daughter went on the trail ride for her birthday. We had a great time. The horses were amazing and the guides were fantastic. We will for sure book another ride soon!

Veronica is the best riding instructor! 100% recommend! It was my first time; I was hesitant and did a lot of things wrong. She was patient and explained everything so I got better and felt pretty dang cool about it!!! Thank you Veronica ???? and tatonka, the chillest horse!

Amazing experience! We went this past Sunday and our guide Abe was, hands down, awesome! He was patient and extremely knowledgable and knows his stuff. The cost is more than reasonable for such great service. Make sure you bring cash to tip, as these guides more than deserve it. Make a family weekend of it and GO. You won’t regret it!

Just finished a two hour trail walk with Marissa as our guide.... she was a seasoned expert, tons of fun, and riding next to the lake on a gorgeous day... what more is there to say ????????

Great place for adults and kids! They're super friendly and great at teaching the basics of riding a horse. The trail ride was super peaceful and fun. It also lasted about 2 hours, which was totally worth the pay! I would recommend going here to anyone.

This is a great place to go for a trail ride. I first came in 2014 and am now a regular. The 2 hour guided trail ride goes along Folsom lake, up Mooney Ridge, into the park and back around and through the lake, weather permitting.
