Update to my review took my pitbull mix here and the best experience. We got to meet the friendly and ever so knowledgeable Dr. Katelyn Kirtley. She spent time explaining everything and listened to all of our questions. She is the best and has our girl feeling better again. Highly reccomend this clinic. All of the staff are very friendly and helpful. We also take our puppy here and had a great experience. Friendly staff and very helpful when I call with a bunch of questions! I will continue to take my doggie here for his care since they do a great job.

My cat got fleas during the visit... I wrote an email to complain about this with great appreciation of the service and strong arguments about why I believed Blackberry picked up fleas at the health check appointment. However, I haven't hear them back in two weeks. I was extremely disappointed about the customer service since we communicated very well and the doctor was clear and responsive. Now I felt concerned about the sanitary situation at the hospital. Even though I didn’t have direct access to the exam procedures inside the hospital because pet parents had to wait outside (which I was thankful of and believed that it’s necessary during covid). I would assume that Blackberry was on an exam table with a blanket or a mat, which was shared with other pets. Since fleas are common in Santa Barbara, it’s likely that other pets have them and thus fleas/eggs were indirectly transmitted to Blackberry. My observations: 1 She wasn’t diagnosed with fleas during the health check appointment on 8/18. 2 The abnormal scratching behavior started after the visit to the hospital (thus this was not on the pre-arrival patient survey). 3 Around 10 fleas were found on 8/31 and ~10 more on the following day (the hatching period for fleas is 1-10 days, so the timeline is consistent with the hypothesis). 4 I live in a nicely maintained university housing. No flea problem had occurred since 2017 fall. The apartment was thoroughly cleaned on 8/19 to prepare for the arrival of new residents and I have an email notification from the housing office to prove it. Anyway, other than this unfortunate incident, the exams we had here were good. If she had never pick up any fleas, I would definitely revisit in the future.

If you care about your pets; please seek care elsewhere, these folks don't care about anything beyond collecting your bill. We had our 6 y/o dog in for three exams within a month because she was behaving weird and they found nothing each time. Five days after the last appointment she died of a treatable cancer that the ER vet said "was so obvious they felt it with their hand" during intake. We are devastated and will always wonder if we had chosen another vet, that month of treatment might have saved her.

This is my favorite Vet and only vet I take my pets too. They treat us very nice and our doggies get great treatment and always taken well care of. Michael is the best and super friendly. Dr. Katelyn Kirtley is our Vet and so sweet, knowledgeable, and takes a her time with you and your pet to go over everything and answers any and all your questions you have. We have the best experience Everytime we go.

This was a first visit, so I only have first impressions. Protocols are in place for Covid, so I only talked with the technicians and Dr. Kelly out in the parking lot. Everyone seemed very friendly and professional. It was a wellness check, so no treatment was needed.

Our five-month old puppy Charlie fell out of our truck onto his right hip and could not put any weight onto his leg. Our prior vet could not see him for two weeks, even though I described Charlie’s condition. I called other local vets and animal hospitals but they could not see us this week. I called The Goodland Pet Hospital. The doctors and staff at Goodland took us in after hours to examine Charlie. Their x-rays showed a serious break to his right, hind femur bone. Dr. Kelly provided two surgery options and put us in contact with top-rated Access Animal Hospital in Culver City. We were able to obtain a surgery appointment for Charlie the next morning! The pin fluoroscopy surgery went well. Charlie is in great spirits and beginning his long road to recovery! All this thanks to Dr. Caitlyn Kelly, Michael, and the entire staff at The Goodland Pet Hospital. We are beyond grateful. We cannot recommend their skill, care and warmth enough!????

I have been taking my dog for several years and always felt that everyone was excellent and caring. A friend who had a dog with many medical issues had referred me when I got a puppy. My dog just needed routine care other than one mild skin infection (which was treated quickly). I sent a friend to La Concepcion with her dog after another vet said to put her down due to laryngospasm. The other vet said she would certainly develop laryngeal paralysis and die horribly. The dog is 12 and they've had her since she was 8 weeks. My friend was so upset. I looked up some articles and saw there are some treatment options which the other vet never mentioned. I told her to go to La Concepcion. They were awesome! They never suggested putting the dog down, they showed my friend how to massage her neck and gave the dog some steroids to get down inflammation that had occurred. The dog is still alive and happy with no laryngeal paralysis 9 months later! She doesn't even have the spasm problem anymore!! Amazing. We love La Concepcion.

My cousin who lived in Goleta passed away and I came to Goleta to bring her cat back to Chicago to live with me. I needed a health certificate for him to fly and his original vet couldn't issue one so I made an appt with Goodland. They gave him a rabies shot, issued the certificate, trimmed his nails, inserted a microchip at my request, and contacted his original vet and got me a copy of his existing health records. They were a tremendous help in a very stressful situation even though they know I will not be a repeat customer given that I live in Chicago. Great veterinarian for those of you who live in Goleta or Santa Barbara.

We recently adopted a puppy from the local shelter and already heard many great things about Goodland Vet Hospital from several good friends who use them for all their pet needs, so we felt comfortable from the start. Super friendly and efficient staff got us in quick for our puppy's first official (non-urgent) appointment, and what with Covid still a safety risk, their check in/out process is quite easy. They come to your car, check your pet in, gather any questions/concerns (if you haven't already relayed while making the appt), relay that I'll get a call from the doctor once they've completed the exam, and safely takes your pet inside. Granted, if your pet is afraid of strangers, or some other issue, it's likely going to be a different experience, but they WILL do their very best to make your pet feel as comfortable as possible, as I saw this firsthand while waiting for my puppy's appt to finish. There was a very small, elderly skittish/scared dog that barked and growled at staff, so they brought out a small cloth muzzle that the owner put on the dog, and then the staff member was able to safely carry him, cuddled in their arms, inside for his appointment. I say this because there may be some people that don't understand why this is important, but it is, as this was necessary for the safety of the staff, which is as important as the safety of the animal. Anyway, luckily for him, his appointment was over before ours, and he was carried back to his owner, both were visibly happy to see each other, owner was thankful to staff for the quick turnaround and off they went. A few minutes later, I receive a call from Dr. Bryan, who reviewed his exam and findings with me, asked a few more questions, and answered a few more of mine and we were done! Shortly thereafter, staff brought my puppy out, all happy-go-lucky and returned him safely to the back seat of my car. Staff reviewed the post-vaccine side effects to keep an eye on and asked if I had any other questions (nope!) all while I easily paid my (very reasonable) bill from my car window... and voila, we were done and on our way! STAFF - I promise, I will learn your names... what with face masks and shields, I couldn't easily tell if it was the same person or not (my bad!) from start to finish - just know, you were wonderful and I appreciate you! All in all, we are looking forward to long, healthy (preferably non-urgent) relationship with Goodland Vet Hospital - Thank you!

We adopted a dog and two weeks later found out she was pregnant. We had a horrible experience with the vet we first saw. They thought she had an infection in her uterus and sent us to the animal hospital where we found out she was pregnant. $500+ later, we still needed to find a vet to do her normal check up stuff AND get x-rays and help us figure out how to handle a pregnant dog. I called 5 different vet offices and none were taking new patients soon enough, since she needed to get in within a couple of weeks. Then a friend told us about Goodland Pet Hospital (I wish I knew about them earlier!). I called and the lady on the phone was so attentive and helpful. She got me in for an appointment the next week. When we got to our appointment, the man who came out to do the initial questions and take our dog in for her appointment (I believe his name was Josh) was also so very attentive and patient and let me ask all my questions and voice all my concerns (there were A LOT). Then Dr. Bryan did the exam and called me when he was done and he was so amazing. Also went over everything to get the entire picture of the situation and asked questions and I asked him more and options and quotes for work without pressure. He also printed out a ton of useful information and emailed me later with a website that would be helpful for me. I am so very happy with my experience here and will definitely be sticking with them for all my vet needs!

I brought my chinchilla Pancake and while rodents aren't their specialty they did an incredible job! Dr. Kelly even checked for other things I didn't know about. I was super impressed and plan to take Pancake there for his annual check-ups.

I had an outstanding experience with this practice from start to finish for an urgent visit. My older dog has a complex medical history & was acting really strange and not herself all week — the practice was able to see her within an hour of me calling. The receptionist, Kat, on the phone was warm, reassuring, & genuine. When we arrived, she was patient with my inability to process verbal directions/what she was saying & even offered to help me fill out the paperwork — as she said it looked like I had my hands full. The waiting room was nice and quiet. The vet tech was also kind, thorough, & patient; I don’t remember his name. Dr. Kelly was patient, thorough, & explained everything very well. She did a great job diagnosing a potential cause for my dog’s pain but also asked me to keep in contact if it turns out something different is happening, which I appreciated. I’m sure I came across as a crazy dog mom: I was incredibly teary, wearing a shirt with dogs on it, awkward, & giving too much information about my dog as usual (I am on the autism spectrum). But she was not put off by my emotions or the fact that the problem ended up as likely something much less serious (thank goodness) than we all originally anticipated. Not once did she seem annoyed or upset with me - everyone there treated both me & my dog with kindness and respect throughout. That meant a lot. If you read reviews here & feel deterred by the negative ones, you should know that a lot of the negative ones are about a provider that is no longer at the practice. Dr. Kelly is the owner, and as far as we are concerned, the place is great!

I brought my mini Aussie here for a limping leg and twice was extremely disappointed with the treatment and the outcome. The experience for my dog was very distressing and the doctor unfortunately was unable to detect that the dog was limping or provide any meaningful help, other than a few pills for pain. I asked several times for the dog to be put in a brace to immobilize the joint and this was not done because they do not have the capability in house- I wish I would have known that before bring thing the dog in and spending upwards of $500 for visits and x-rays. It has been over 6 months now and the dog is still limping even more, likely permanently at this point. Additionally, there was no advice provided on how much activity restriction to be provided, or what to do when he becomes restless and wants to go out. They did however suggest more tests and in-depth studies. Sadly, during the two visits that I went to my dog came out of the visit limping much worse and completely traumatized and shaking. This place may be capable of treating other injuries but I would not recommend bringing a limping dog here, as my situation has only become worse as a result. I will never be coming back to this place again.

Took my girlie Jazz in for a check up because I wanted to make sure all was well with her. They came out, got her and took her inside then came out with her when they were done. Easy safe procedure and I waited in in the car. Loved the process and appreciated the service. Great job. Highly recommend... Thanks

I am so thankful for Dr. Bryan and the staff at Goodland Pet Hospital. My almost 17 year old cat stopped eating and I thought he was taking his leave. Dr. Bryan quickly figured out why Phil was ill. He researched and ruled things out and treated him. He is doing great and as peppy as a kitten again. Huge thank yous to Dr. Bryan and staff -- eternally grateful!
