We are just starting out with mike and his staff to get our little one trained and in line. Exceptional from the first contact to present. Many different training packages to choose from and can not wait for the next private lesson. Will check in again after lessons to follow up. I am the parent of a 2 year old Golden Retriever, Chance, and we took him to two different dog trainers in the Bay Area before we finally went to Mike and his team at Primal. Chance was a super hyper dog always pulling on walks, jumping on people, bum rushing every dog to play with them, chewing everything insight, and never listening to a command. After a few private lessons and ultimately enrolling in Primal’s board and train program (seriously worth every penny), Chance is a completely different dog. He is still the happy go lucky guy he always was but a more confident doggo that practices better self control. I remember his first intermediate group class, he couldn’t even place on a bench because he was so scared, but now, he can place on the most awkward of places and listen to commands from 6 feet away! Primal not only helped Chance learn and grow into a happy, confident pupper but most importantly helped my boyfriend and me set boundaries for Chance and communicate with him effectively. Although we still have some things to continue to learn and work on with him, I cannot thank Mike, Matt, Lee and entire Primal team enough for all they’ve done to help us. It’s because of them that I get constant compliments on Chance’s behavior and get to take him to work every day with me! If you are looking for some really kind, knowledgeable and effective trainers to help your dog, go see the team at Primal Canine! It will be the best decision you ever made!!

When I was in California I went to Primal Canine’s five year anniversary and it was a blast! Great people, music, vibes, and dogs. The protection and obedience demonstration was awesome! You could see how much Mike and his staff loved the dogs and how much the dogs truly loved to work. I then went to a seminar Mike was holding in New York on obedience and protection work. He was extremely engaging, clear, and professional. I am just starting out as a dog trainer and found that Mike explained things to owners in a way that really made sense to them. I’ve implemented his straightforward approach in my training method. I compete in IGP with my GSD and Mike had no problem tailoring the protection session for my goals. He made my dog feel super comfortable and built him up after some over the top experiences with strange helpers. It was really refreshing to work with someone who is truly in it for the dog and not their ego. I would love to work with Mike again! I would recommend any trainer or pet owner work with Primal Canine if they have the chance!

Lee is amazing. He is getting me and my dog on the same page. Really makes appointments easy and available. Great staff and trainers! They truly care about your animals. Pricing is fair and reasonable.

So legit. Just from one visit. But way too far. Wish they had a facility in Concord where we live otherwise we would go back weekly.

I took my dog here for years when she was a puppy !! Amazing staff! They helped my dog so much she was a crazy lil pup didn’t listen and did what she wanted. With the help with Primal Canine my baby now is the best dog I could of ever asked for. We gone tells me how trained she is and I must say thanks to primal canine with helping my Mercades(pitbull). I highly recommend them to everyone that has problems with their pup.

Mike and his crew are wonderful. Caring. Hard working. Yes there isn't a lot of parking but chances are both you and your dog will enjoy a short walk. :)

This place is awesome. They're very knowledgeable and have helped me become a better dog owner and helped me tame our stubborn rescue dog. I highly, highly recommend Primal Canine!

My post just got deleted how funny. Again. For the 3rd time. My wife and I took our 6 month old female yellow lab for a 17 day board and train with one of their best trainers. We were unsure about forking over $2500 without seeing any results first, but the owner ended up asking for just $1500 and assured when we got her back we'd see progress and could pay the remainder then once we were satisfied. When she returned she had sores on her front elbows, diarrhea, a crate that wasn't hers, and even crazier, no progress in training whatsover. We asked for our money back and was told we needed to pay for the single/ group classes to get progress. Then why did you take my $1500 and assure me we'd see progress upon her return. Absolutely ridiculous. This company is terrible. Don't take the great stars you see on other websites and an insight to how they work. Reviews get deleted as they just did here. You can't see the bad ones.

Sent my puppy Murphy for a 17 day Train & Board, and received her back with sores on her front elbows, diarrhea, no progression on her training whatsoever. Paid $1500 for that. and that was only half the price of the package. I wonder what I would have gotten had I paid for the other part of it. Asked for my money back and the owner said, verbatim: "the training doesn't work with you guys because your dog is too smart and it knows you don't know the correct training methods," and then went on to say, "you need to do the single/ group classes for the training to work," So why did I need to Board & Train if nothing actually progressed until after we go to the single/ group classes? Ridiculous. Don't take their stars on other websites as the only reviews. If you notice the bad ones seem to get deleted.
