Good service, very clean kennels. I adopted a beautiful husky. You do need to make a appointment to see animals but it is worth it.

Got extremely lucky & was able to schedule the first appointment the very next day (I guess somebody canceled) & was able to adopt my sweet girl. The employees were kind & helpful! Thank you

Ive gotten all my furry friends from this place. Which is 4 total. They spay/neuter before releasing the pets to a new home and you get one free doctor follow up a month later. Which the adoption fee being around $110 is not bad. I also like to support this place because from what Ive seen they treat and house the animals well. They also allow you to interact with the pet outside of their kennel prior to adopting them. They keep it clean and organized (sick animals have separate housing) but they still house them. The adoption process is kind of tedious as you have to wait for availability and maybe you wont be there since the availability can be days later. So you cant get too attached to one pet but this is usual for shelters as a opposed to shopping for a pet which I don’t do. They also take donations like bedding, towels etc.

No-kill Animal Shelter. Due to Covid restrictions, everything is by appointment only. I went here with my family for a "Love at First Sight" appointment, and we adopted an adorable 5 y/o Pit Bull. Our other dog (also a Pit Bull) died recently, and I couldn't imagine going through the Holiday Season without a companion. Staff is very polite and informative. I hope I won't have to go back anytime soon, because picking out a new pet is never easy (I want to take all of them home with me) but I would highly recommend this facility if you're looking for a new furry friend or a feathered one, or even a reptile.

CONS -You need to make an online appointment in order to see your potential new pet. -Several families get the same time frame. -No social distancing. -No first come first serve. Most likely line cutters will be the first to get in. PROS -You get to interact with potential new pet. -If you find and like a ready to adopt pet you can take him/her the very same day. -The staff is sooo nice. So after one of my beloved ???? went to heaven I promised myself I would never get another furry family member, but my whole family decided it would be good to give a chance to another ????. We tried to adopt through SEAACA and Downey animal shelter with no avail. I saw those german shepard and pit bull mix puppies online but I wasn't interested in any of them but my daughter asked me to interact with one of them and I must say it was "Love at first hug" because as soon as she was place in my hands we both hugged each other and even my daughter was surprised how she attached to me. So I originally went to ask for information about other ???? and I ended up taking a little one who stole my ❤ I strongly recommend adopting from shelters instead of buying from heartless people that don't even care about pets.

Their staff is absolutely rude. Talked very disrespectfully to me and my family after we went to inquire about an adult cat we saw online. They said the cat was no longer available and told us to go.

definitely the worst shelter you can take an animal to. the hispanic wannabe officer lady is very unprofessional. i brought in a stray kitten who was obvi sick his eye had pus coming out n was red and she literally came out and when i tried showing her she said don’t take him out and looked through a very small hole and said the kitten was healthy tht nothing was wrong with his eyes and his stomach wasn’t bloated bc she could tell from his back which makes no sense. then she even said that that’s 1 year old. like if she doesn’t know anything about animals. she does this to everyone who brings in strays they won’t help animals and i wouldn’t be surprised if they treat them like s#*t as well. so if u want your pet to be mistreated this is the place for you. bc it’s obvi they don’t care about them

Went to drop off a found female dog that was limping.... explained to the officer there that i already have two male dogs and I could not keep her... was told i had to call Carson animal control to pick her up and take to them well when i called Carson animal control they told me to drop her off.... Carson Animal Shelter is to lazy to do their job! Why do we pay taxes for then?

I was trying to turn in a sick kitten with severe diarrhea. A female officer came out to me, just by looking at the kitten and told me that it looks completely healthy even though she saw all the loose stool there and hearing me telling her that this kitten had been having diarrhea for two days. That was just flat out lying and I can’t believe someone who is working there would lie like that. They insisted me fostering the kitten and that they couldn’t take it because it’s not sick. If that’s not sick I so don’t understand what is being sick. I had to visit them 3 times, called so many parties so they finally checked and took in the kitty when they should have done it in the first place. I had a horrible experience and hopefully they can improve their service and do provide more care for the animals.

The appointment-only process they have in place for meeting the animals is very unaccommodating and strict. When I first emailed them about my interest in a cat, they scheduled me for a weekday without confirming with me whether that date/time would work. When I emailed them back saying that the date/time wouldn't work for me, they said I would have to wait until I "missed" my appointment and then email them again and again and just hope that the next time slot they assigned me would work out. After many phone calls with many different people, we were able to schedule a date/time that worked for us. When we arrived (10min late due to traffic), they had already marked us as a no-show- even though we had called them multiple times on our way there with no answer- and we were not allowed to make up the time we missed. Then we were told only one of us would be able to meet the cat because the room was "too small", and refused to let us both meet the cat even if we went one at a time. I ultimately only had <10 min of interaction with the cat before I had to decide. I overheard an employee telling another client that they were planning on keeping this appointment-only procedure in place even post-COVID. I think this is a huge disservice to the animals and for people/families who really want to get to know the animals before adopting. I still encourage you to adopt from this shelter because the animals need help, but just be prepared for a very frustrating experience.

Even though most of COVID-19 restrictions have been lifted... We can't go see the animals for adoption, and have to wait outside the building in line for any questions.

Reading through all these full of grief and vitriol spouting reviews, I really can't imagine this place ever could be so disappointing. For I found: - staff personnel are suave, both at reception and inside in the kennels; - the place is spacious for they running really big premises instead of cramping the poor kittens into one small room as the other adopters do; - procedure wasn't any complicated, we came, spotted a cat we love, receptionist girl made an appointment for the next day; I found no problem whatsoever down here, this place is an exemplar one in discrepancy to the real fascist places as a nazi camp of death of nkla in Santa Monica!

The worst shelter ever! I came in because I found two under age kittens. I stood in line for half an hour and no one was able to help me. It wasn’t till I had to approach them till they helped me. I told him I found two kittens and I wanted to know if I can relinquish them here. A man had told me that if I relinquish them and if they can’t find a foster home they will euthanize them. He also told me that it is difficult to find foster homes for under age kittens. So, the likelihood of these kittens were going to be euthanasia. The man had asked me “why did you take the kittens? The mom would have come back.” I told the man that “my father had found them and have left them there over night for the mother to come back. It was already morning and the mom did not come back. So I decided to bring the kittens in.” I do not understand why he would want me to put the 2 kittens out in the construction site and contribute to the stray cat population. The man had also asked me where I have found the kittens and took my sisters ID and walked away. Another man had came out and told me that he had income the kittens. The man did not give me an option as to what I wanted to do with the kittens. Then another woman came out and insisted on taking the kittens. I told the woman that I did not consent or give my permission to give the kittens to them because they were going to get euthanize. She insisted in getting the kittens and told me that I had to talk to somebody else. So I did. The next woman told me that I should have been given an option. My options were to give them the kittens or foster them. I told him that I was willing to foster them until they were of age because I did not want them to get euthanized. The woman went back inside and soon later one of the same men came out. The man, then had the audacity to ask me “then why did you bring them in?” I told them that I brought them in because I thought they were going to go to a foster home. He then told me that if I was willing to foster then I shouldn’t have brought them here. I tried to do a good thing but I was treated horrible. I work at a animal shelter and we give every animal a chance at life. We do not euthanize because we can’t find a foster home and we definitely don’t tell the public to leave underage kittens back to a dangerous area. This is a place to avoid especially if you care about animals.
