Have been taking our pets for 11 years to VCA Encinitas and had been quite happy with their service up until a recent emergency. Our 6 month old husky puppy got into a bottle of Advil (containing Ibuprofen) so we called to get her in right away. We were told we had to call the SPCA poison control line to discuss specifics and get a case number first. Upon calling we ended up on hold on an automated line for 20 minutes. I called back and the girl was very short telling me that was their procedure. I informed her we were coming in and if we didn't get the center to pick up by our arrival I would expect proper medical treatment as this was an emergency. She was considerably short in response. Halfway there we passed a 24/7 emergency vet clinic and having still been on hold with poison control decided to stop there for help. Despite the fact they were very busy, they took our puppy in, induced vomiting immediately, and continued treatment. Paperwork and payment after, no poison control garbage. Professional and reacted as they should in handling an emergency. In the future we will be taking our pets to the VEG emergency facility on El Camino Real in Encinitas in any emergency situation or if hospitalization is required. We will be moving to another vet for routine service. This is our second emergency that was improperly handled by VCA (the Carlsbad facility was involved in the other case). In researching, we discovered VCA is owned by Mars, Inc. - the candy company. Welcome to Fortune 500 bureaucracy at your local vet.

My daughter was visiting from Colorado with her golden retriever. She noticed her dog was limping and we got an appointment the next morning at VCA North Coast. Everyone was was so great, not only to us, but especially to our puppy. They contacted her vet in Colorado and got all of her latest information. Everyone explained everything so clearly to us so we could make informed decisions. They showed us an itemized list all of our options and did not pressure us to do anything. They even gave her the option of what she could wait to do when she returned to Colorado next week. We would recommend VCA North Coast Animal Hospital in Encinitas to anyone whether you live here or are visiting.

VCA North Coast is fabulous. Their Drs think outside of the box in difficult situations and do not pressure you into anything. Dr. Vicario was a godsend for my cat Bailey (and me), and handled difficult clinical/emotional situations with great compassion. The staff clearly love their furry customers and are true professionals.

Dr. Chapman has been wonderful helping me with my dog Lulu’s health issues. I have had many animals and many vets through the years but Dr. Chapman has been the best!

Felt as easy and kept my kitty at ease too. Knowledgeable staff! Great experience. Comfortable knowing they're right down the street.

Expensive, impatient, rude, lost vaccination paperwork, long wait time, do not return calls, over $300 for inconclusive results, lied to by female vet- blonde , and tall, dark-reddish haired technician, when I had gone in for a "free" check up (they quoted & wanted $800). At least I got Apoquel!

We've been going here for 6+ years now. Its about 30 min drive for us but its worth it. The doctors and staff are excellent and the hours are convenient for scheduling appointments and there is always someone there for emergencies.

Dr. Tsai is the only vet I will take our french bulldogs to. He is honest and great with our dogs. His staff is very helpful and files all of our puppy insurance papers for us, you get what you pay for with these guys which is why we love them and won't use anyone else.

I used to live a few blocks away from this place. Had been looking for a place to take my highly neurotic and non-very-nice-to-strangers small dog when she was having health issues. A friend recommended the VCA in Point Loma saying …

Worked with a great vet assistant and a head vet, both compassionate caring females who helped us out with our puppy who was feeling under the weather. There was no wait time and they were very fast and efficient at their job. We went after hours for emergency for all this and the experience was great, excellent vet clinic! Thank you for helping make Oakley feel better!

About 6 years ago our escape dog Bodie was hit by a car. We rushed him to VCA and they saved his life. After a couple of weeks in the hospital we brought him home. A few days later we noticed a giant swelling in his flank and brought him …

To us this is the best pet hospital in all of North county. The entire staff is great! They really do care about you and your pet. I cannot say enough about how great they are. I will and have recommended them to everyone I know. They saved our Jake's life. The vet called us to keep us informed everyday and everyone took great care of our boy.
