HORRIBLE!!! I waiting over an hour just to talk to someone after filling out the pre adoption paperwork online before coming. I would strongly recommend staying away from this place is you value your time - find a friend somewhere else .

My experience with RCHS goes way back to the 1990's. This organization is extremely dedicated and devoted to providing the very best possible care available to their animals. I adopted a male cat of 4 years old "Merlin" when lived with me for 17 & 1/2 years of age. He was a dream. I ended up volunteering with RCHS which was awesome. Helping animals is a great feeling.

I met one nice volunteer on one visit. But I think they could use better unification of purpose. I saw areas which could be improved upon.

Very friendly staff and you can see they are volunteering there with lots of love and compassion. Nice to walk around and see all the dogs. They have color coding as well so you know right away, which color means what kinda of personality and needs each dogs has! I found that very helpful!

The only place I will ever adopt from. They are truly the best and only want the best for the animals and the families they help!

The staff were awfully nice and very professional. I didn't get to adopt the dog that I wanted to adopt, because for some unknown reason that dog has an issue with men, I was bummed out, but it's not about me, it's about the animals that they are trying to find the right home for and 'I' wasn't the right fit for the dog that I wanted to adopt. They are doing a great job of being matchmaker's, I applauded the efforts that they are putting forth to ensure the animals that are in their care, are going to homes that they will be comfortable living in and are compatibles with their new family members. I will be going back to see them, the next time that they have a dog up for adoption that catches my eye.

Thank you Judi and your great people. Also many thanks from the oppressed animals in Mexico. I wish the universe gives you long lasting health and energy to keep doing the good work.

I came here with good intentions to adopt a pet .. the staffs ( I guess the volunteers were courteous) .. but the interview girl was curt and rude.. I came to adopt a pet , I did not come to be adopted ..will never come back again

These people really care about the dogs and make sure you're a good fit with your new best friend for life. We couldn't have found a better BFFL and Freddy saw that we'd be interested in him. Great going and we'll be back! Takoda says Thank you too!! Update 7/24/21. Fenix Rescue AC from Obregon Mexico is here this afternoon and I had to make sure to bring some Karma to repay their good deeds. I follow Rancho Coastal HS AND Rescate Fenix AC now and contribute what I can, when I can. Today was beds and meds... And a little something to make sure they get home more efficiently. If you follow Rancho Coastal, try finding a little space in your time for Fenix Rescue AC, called Rescate Fenix AC in their home... And make a sorely needed donation. Thank you for reading and caring. ????????????????????????

Filled out an application for an adult male small dog who has been posted for sometime. We have one other female medium dog who recently lost her brother and saw a lot of similarities to the one needing adoption. After hearing about his compatible personality, receiving a 30 minute phone interview and verifying everything that would make us great adopters-house with fenced in yard, someone almost always home, indoor access full time, lots of experience with rescues and older dogs, lots of time to dedicate to the transition and standard of keeping money saved for vet visits and emergencies, the interviewer told us we would not be a good fit for the particular dog bc he showed "resource guarding" and should be only dog in home. Uh, many dogs demonstrate that and its nothing we havent dealt with before and couldn't work with. Instead he offered a dog that would be a better fit, it was also a small adult male which we agreed would be a good fit with our gal so we said okay and asked when we can set up a visit. But instead he ended the call saying he would put a note in to the "counselors to review the match" which would "put us in the queue" and may or may not reach out.(weren't you the counselor who did the review?).. Still havent heard anything weeks later and meanwhile both dogs are still sitting in kennels waiting for adoption. I understand this place is a nonprofit but it seems they are stringing things along for the money not for the actual placement of homeless animals. Will be going back to the rescue group we adopted our gal from who had a great screening process, followed up with a home check after two weeks and before the adoption was finalized, and is truly focused on finding dogs homes.

Very nice and caring people. I left them with my dear 17 years old Pom to put her to rest and stop her suffering and pain:-( Thank you for being there and providing your service.

This is Reggie! We got him about a month ago, and he is amazing! The office staff helped walk us through a nice socially distance meeting with our dog, and Andrew really took the time to ensure a safe first meet! I'd take half a star because he had a cold when we got him but our vet offers a FREE visit with his adoption and they chipped & licensed him- so 5 stars! Thanks for our handsome man!! EDIT!! Reggie got himself skunked his first week...at midnight. STILL 5 STARS! ????

Every time I try to adopt a dog they tell me one thing but after I submit the form they tell me something completely different. I have had a bad experience.

We LOVE RCHS! We adopted our dog from here as a puppy back in 2013, and have a memorial brick here for our beloved cat that passed in 2020. They have a great dog park and doggie daycare available, as well.

This is a special place and they obviously care about all their animals, even those who have challenges. We adopted Muneca (a medium sized dog) who was overly shy and obviously had some bad experiences in her past. The shelter was very upfront about describing her and what it would take to adopt her. They obviously cared about her and followed up twice in the first month that we had her. to make sure she was OK. She has adapted very well and is a valued part of our household. We deeply appreciate the love and care that RCHS provided her.

Thank you for finding a soulmate of a dog for my sister. She raved about you and the way you handled the adoption of her favorite 4-legged friend.
