Petco Encinitas, California

One of the absolute worst Petco stores you can visit. Ever since the change in the main manager (the old manager was very nice and helpful) you can tell this store has gone downhill FAST. The people seem like they're not motivated to work and it really shows when they seem like they'd rather want to jump off a bridge than work there. To me this starts and ends with the manager. Otherwise, you would have more enthusiastic workers. The selection is limited due to this store being a lower volume store so you'd have better luck going somewhere with better management and a bigger selection. The only good manager I ran into was a couple kind gentlemen in aquatics, the taller one, who was the assistant manager, unfortunately told me he was leaving the store after I've seen him working there for over a year. They were both very kind and knowledgeable but unfortunately I have not seen either of them there since.

It's Petco. Nothing more needs to be said.

Their bird section has gotten pathetic. One short little section in one aisle. Tons of cat/dog products not to mention fish. I quit going in there for my bird.

I think the one young man working b4 8pm close would do well to have a supportive co-worker on shift and available to help.

Found everything I needed

Very unhappy with the service provided to me by this particular Petco. I made an appointment online for grooming. I did not receive the requested service after driving out of my way for. What i got was a bath and a flea dip for for fifty some dollars. I drove over 35 minutes to get there. They told me they would have her for 2 and a half hours. I ask how they would trimming her her nail, they said buffing was in the computer. So, i left thinking my dog was going to be groomed and nails trimmed and complete. No such luck. I went home to get my son so we could go out and eat while the dog was being groomed. As soon as I walked in the door I received a phone call saying the dog was done! I asked what did you do in such short time. I was told my dog was bathed. I could have done that myself and for a lot cheaper than $53.00 I will never step foot in that place again!

Be careful customers bring really BIG dogs inside.

Very happy with Dr. Steed and how she took the time to explain everything to us. We have an older dog who is having seizures.

Everyone was really helpful and knowledgeable. Due to covid many items were missing.

The people here are always friendly and helpful. The prices and selection don't seem great to me, but maybe that just depends on what you're looking for. I saw tons and tons of dog leashes, but only 1 harness for my pup. I tried to find a nice indoor playpen...all they had were the ugly black wire crates. Lots of kinds of dog shampoo, but not the one I wanted, which is the only shampoo the helps my dog's itchy skin.

I had a hamster and I took him here and his name was adolf bigglesworth and he was the best hampster but than he died in a kayaking incident and I tried to buy a duck here and they wouldn't sell me a duck! ): ):

Management needs to open restroom in the Encinitas location! I use the Thrive Vet clinic attached to the store on a regular basis, and every time I try to use the restroom, there is a sign saying "Restrooms are broken". Each time I ask an employee about the restroom status and all I get is a flimsy excuse. If Petco doesn't want to provide good customer service, that 's on them. I deeply resent the employees at the Encinitas location treating me as being totally stupid.
