Dr. Ted and his Team have been phenomenal throughout a very scary week for our doggie and his parents. Our pet is usually very energetic and loves his walks. I knew something had to be wrong when he didn't want to go on a walk anymore, so we took him into Companion Pet Care to get him checked out. We've been going to this vet since 2012 and have loved our experiences there, and have been very lucky that our dog has been so healthy. However, this week, Dr. Ted discovered that our dog had large masses growing on his spleen, which was deteriorating his red blood cell count as well as making the rest of his organs uncomfortable due to the size of the masses. Dr. Ted arranged an imaging appointment the following day and recommended surgery the day after. Dr. Ted prioritized our dog's health and had the perfect balance of compassion, understanding and transparency throughout the whole process. The surgery was successful and our love bug is home recovering very well. They have been calling regularly since the surgery (two days ago) to check-in on us and our dog. I cannot fully put into words how grateful I am for this stellar team, the great work they do not only for our furry family members, but their humans as well. I will never forget the quality of care they gave us in such a dire time of need and will always be so grateful for them.

The caring attitude and service this place shows it outstanding. From Dr. Burghardt to all the staff, I've never seen such genuine concern for their patients.

Dr. Burghardt is a gentle, kind pet lover with lots of expertise. He and his staff listen well and are ALWAYS welcoming to our dogs. He also is sensitive to cost & will recommend less expensive alternatives to treatment, which is very much appreciated.

This vet and his staff are amazing ! He is personable and caring. I brought my best friend -Bob the dog- in on very short notice on New Year’s Eve for care to make him comfortable for the special time I have left with him. The entire visit left me knowing he is in goods hands and loved

I took my fur-baby Nickolas in so they could take a look at his teeth. He was having discomfort in the nose and mouth area. They took excellent care of him. Even brushed him while he was under anesthesia. They cuddled and loved on him. Dr. Ted and his team are wonderful. I drive from Vista to Encinitas because their care and service are superior. It should be noted that I drive with a cat yowling in the front seat the whole way so you know it's worth the extra effort to get there.

We’ve had a long relationship with Companion Pet Care, to save you the long tragic story, my dog Chocolate has been coming to them since she was a young dog and I acquired her later in life. These people have been such an amazing support with everything we have gone through, getting her in quickly when needed… every times and that’s been often. We drive 30+ min to go to them and it’s worth it. They have treated my girl like their own, crying with me and cheering her on. I have always enjoyed our level of personal care, which is not always the case at vets. Strongly recommend them. Thank you for all your care.

I am honestly shocked by all of these positive reviews. Every interaction with this vet has left me in tears and completely distraught by how expensive their tests and recommended treatments are. In order to save some money we started ordering our dogs medication through Chewy.com (same prescription, same brand, but about half the price) and the vet refuses to approve the medication, insisting that instead of paying $50 through Chewy, we pay THEM $150 for the same prescription. I can't believe they get away with this. Save your money and find a vet with a conscience to care for your sweet furry family members.

Each staff member who greeted us--from clerical staff to vet tech to the doctor--was professional, courteous, genial and kind toward me and my dog. You can tell this is a mindful and dedicated practice from the top down. So grateful to find you all.

Dr. Ted Burghardt and his staff are simply wonderful. I brought my Australian Shepard in because he was limping and would not let me check his paw. I was very concerned there was something in it. A very pleasant staff member met us in the parking lot and took down our information and took my dog in for an exam with the doctor. He was able to check the paw and determine that there was nothing in it. The doctor actually came out to my car and let me know what he had found and also provided a small packet of information on arthritis and a list of common supplements that I may want to try for my dog. He took the time to go through the packet with me and answer any questions or concerns that I had. Even though the place was very busy, Dr. Burghardt never made me feel rushed. He gave me his undivided attention until all my questions were answered. I highly recommend Companion Pet Care to anyone searching for a great veterinarian.

I always feel confident about bringing my animals here. Thy are friendly and responsive and always professional. I can communicate easily with the doctor and his staff.

The staff is absolutely caring of my two dogs. Most recently, I was in and out within 10 minutes for one of the dog's shots. I know they are taking great care of the dogs during each visit.

We've been going to CPC for three years for our dog, and have always found the entire staff to be caring, responsive and patient. With our latest "incident", Dr. Howland nailed the likely cause of a sudden ridge of crust on our dog’s nose quickly and with minimal stress for the dog (who does not like going to the vet). The provided solution worked perfectly. Plus, the team there is more than willing to recommend a solution from Chewy, Amazon, etc., if appropriate. Happy have them in our corner.

I got my first puppy at 8 weeks old back in September 2020. I took him to an initial checkup and from the beginning, everyone at companion was so sweet. Everyone who knows me knows I ask a ton of questions - the doctor is very patient in answering all of them and explaining things very thoroughly! They provide amazing service and I always know my pup is loved and taken care of every time he needs to go to the vet. From all the amazing follow up calls, to the little go home package they sent us with after his neutering - it’s really in the details and this place checks all the boxes. They care about your animals as if they were their own and what more could you ask for in a vets office. I can’t speak on pricing since I don’t know what average costs are, but I’m never shocked by my bill or surprised by the cost. I feel as though the pricing is very fair - but knowing my pup is in the best hands is PRICELESS. ????

Ted is by far the best vet I have ever brought my pet to. If I could give him more stars, I would. I'm incredibly picky about my vet care (as I'm sure we all feel like we are) but he far exceeded all expectations. My dog actually enjoys going to visit the Dr. and loves all the positive attention from the staff. The follow up attention is incomparable as well. They really make sure that they are they for you and your pet is doing better. To top off all of the amazing affection and care Ted and his staff give, they are also the most affordable vet I've been to as well. You really cannot ask more for your babies.
