Our dog boarded over night here with grooming services. When we picked him up he was weak, lethargic, and couldn’t even look at us and had no interest in food. He obviously went through a traumatic experience considering 100% of the time he was a happy and super energetic big black lab who lives for food. He needed help into the back of the car when we picked him up. When we tried to ask why he was so lethargic the groomer and the owner both were VERY defensive and said “we don’t hit dogs here!!”. Normal people do not act defensive if they didn’t do anything wrong. Rufus was never the same after this visit. He ate grass a lot and eventually had to be put down due to severe internal bleeding. I love my beloved pup and wish he and I changed places that fateful night we left him here for boarding. I can’t imagine what hell he went through at this establishment. Hell.

The people take real good care of the fur babies. They are very nice and friendly. So many beautiful animals that need a forever home. Make it happen and take one home today. Thank you Kritter Kamp for Blue Barry Muffin and Marshall. We’re all very happy with our fur babies ❤️

We love Kritter Kamp! Everyone is so kind...we adopted “Charlie” about two yrs. ago...he had been at KK for 3 1/2 years and at a other shelter for 2 years! His name was “Jordan” at KK. He’s so happy and so loving in his new home! Charlie is still a little shy and reserved but we love him no matter what. Blessed that we all have each other now♥️ Thank you KK

I can't really say I didn't go in but I've heard nothing but good things about kritter Kampala. If I went inside I probably would rate it a 5.

We found Sassy at Kritter Kamp over four year ago and the staff was amazing! There is plenty of room for the animals and they are well taken care of. We are now ready to extend our animal family and we are going back to Kritter Kamp. I highly recommend this rescue. Whether you are bringing by donations or looking for an addition to your family, you can't beat this place!

Boarded my cat here twice. The first time the facilities were acceptable (not stellar) in terms of cleanliness, but the second time they were not. The only reason I left my cat there was because it was during X-mas week and every other boarder I called was full, and since my cat was placed in a separate, cleaner area away from the other cats - although there are some that live there and roam freely - I figured it would be okay. After picking my cat up, she had stomach trouble for over a week. Once that settled down, I noticed she was losing clumps of hair, down to the skin, in many places, which has continued. I'm working with a vet to narrow down the cause and have her on medication, but I'm certain she picked up something during her visit to Kritter Camp. It's extremely affordable and the staff is nice, but it definitely needs to be sterilized more frequently with that amount of animals. We won't be back.

I got my dog there; she is the BEST. We board her there when we vacation too. We stopped in recently to donate food and I felt like she got to visit her old friends. Great place.

Great place, friendly & professional staff with quality service & the upmost professionalism.... Little rough around the edges but don't judge this book by its cover... My horse & canine were well taken care of & i would recommend them to anyone who cares for their animal as if they were apart of the family....

I adopted Coco through Kritter Kamp and Betty and her staff were super with info on the dog and all vet care that was included. I had lost my Pom/Chi Tiny Girl and was heartbroken and it took me over 8 months to recover. I worked with Coco for over 2 months and he got the potty training down fine. I was impressed by the way Betty gave info to me on the dog and her overall positive attitude. I also dropped off a donation for Kritter Kamp last week as i feel I need to support this rescue. I am also a pet sitting service in Citrus Heights so it is important to have a rescue like Kritter Kamp as a resource for my customers. Thank you all again for the love of my life !, Rose Connolly, Always Available Pet Sitting, C. Hts, CA

We boarded our dog here at the last minute as our regular Pet Hotel was full and we had to go out of town. Our dog is an eleven year old Border Collie mix. She was orphaned at two days old and has had food aggression issues all her life. Other than that she is a good dog. She has been boarded many times. We boarded her for five days at Kritter Kamp and paid $137.00. When she was picked up it was made clear that she was not welcome back. They claimed she was so aggressive they had to move her from the indoor/outdoor run she was in to an outdoor run with a dog house. She has never slept outside in all the years we have had her. Additionally, she had feces matted in her hair on the back of her right front leg and on her chest near her right front leg. Dogs do not voluntarily lay in their feces. We do not believe she received much, if any, care while she was there. Kritter Kamp never contacted us to let us know she was having any difficulties. When we board her at her usual Pet Hotel she is given a bath and sent home clean and happy. It really wasn't necessary for Kritter Kamp to say she is not welcome back as we would never take her there again nor would we recommend them to anyone.

In response to Pamela Blankenship. I would like to take the time to personally write back to you, for it was me and your Husband who had the discussion about Cleo. When Cleo was first dropped off, your Husband mentioned that she was only food aggressive. This was not a problem to us because we've dealt with many dogs that are either dog aggressive, food aggressive, kennel aggressive, etc. After the first day or so of Cleo staying at our facility, we started to realize that she was more than food aggressive. She showed her teeth and snapped at everyone here, including me (Even though I'm the one who actually pet her and introduced myself to her when she was dropped off). Furthermore, when I walk past the dogs several times a day, I always show love and affection to those boarding. When I would simply even call Cleo's name; she would snap at me. I vended for Cleo many times and attempted to give her a good report to the rest of the staff. However I was told to let your husband know that Cleo could no longer stay at our facility due to her amount of aggressiveness aside of food aggression. When your Husband picked up Cleo, she was outside playing during her playtime. Our boarding dogs AND rescue dogs NEVER ever sleep outside. I can assure you that with our many repetitive customers that board with us know for a fact that their dog or dogs do not sleep outside. Also your husband was never told that she was sleeping outside in whatever you thought she was sleeping in. Either there was miscommunication, your husband lied to you, or you are making up things due to anger. Unreasonable. Back to Cleo's pick-up. I told your husband that although we were able to feed her and I was the only one that could let her out during her playtime (because she somewhat liked me), we've never seen so much aggression in a boarding dog. I then guided your husband to where she was outside in her play-yard going potty before her pick-up, and explained to him why we were no longer able to put our staff in danger of Cleo. Being that we love to help our adoptees and boarding customers with their dogs, I asked your husband questions about her kennel history, to see where the issue was. I asked him if she has ever stayed at a kennel before; which he replied yes, but she has also been overly aggressive with other kennels too and that you guys were running out of options. He then mentioned that you guys have had this issue many times before with her being so aggressive when staying at a other kennels. He then sighed and said you guys are running out of options and that he would like to vacation more, but due to her aggressive behaviors, that was becoming less of an option. Maybe your neighbor would have to watch her; he said. Now although Cleo is no longer allowed to stay at our facility, I do wish you the best of luck and advise next time to not assume what you or your husband may think happened. But instead to ask the person that dealt with Cleo's behaviors and overall stay at our facility, which is me. -Sierra

I found my new love here. The dogs are all treated as personal pets and not a burden. This is not a shelter but a sanctuary. They also offer boarding services which is perfect when I need to go away and can't take my new best friend

The workers are super friendly and they take the time to get to know each dog. We told Betty what kind of dog I was looking for and she was able to recall off the top of her head each dog that fit my preferences. I was very impressed by her attention to detail on each dog. I hope more people are able to adopt dogs from Kritter Kamp. If not, then at least donate. I did both haha!
