It meant a lot to me to take my cats to a good vet for once. I know they have their best interest at heart and answer all my questions especially about meds. They have a genuine love for animals too and I appreciate that too.

My pup has been going to South Davis Veterinary Center since she was 10 week olds. The entire staff is wonderful and attentive in every way. Couldn't ask for a better team to help me take care of my little troublemaker.

South Davis vet is professional, clean, and friendly! I have never been dissatisfied with their quality of care, and often recommend them to anyone in town. Dr. Schawel has been a top-quality doctor for my pets for years and has helped us immensely. I love how much he loves our chihuahuas!

The staff are excellent and very helpful! They are also very responsive to all my extra questions over email. I use this vet for check ups and yearly teeth cleaning for my two chihuahuas.

Been going here for years. Love the friendly doctors and staff. Have always received excellent care, reasonable consultations, and thorough follow up. Doctor even sent us a condolence card when we had to put our dog down. Can't comment in prices vs other places, but the care is first rate.

Their prices are reasonable and they have honesty and integrity and will tell you the truth about your pets needs and not just try to sell you on unnecessary treatments.

I love the vets and their staff they take wonderful care of my babies. I was frustrated with the on line resources at first but after a few tries, I think I got it down. Was able to order my flea medications. They came in very fast. It is very nice to have a vets office close by. I have a special needs cat and he gets excellent care. Help is just a call away. Dr Yackey and Dr Bradley and group are the best.

I've been a client with them for probably about 4 years now for both my cat and my late dog. I began going there as a poor college student and have stayed since coming into better life circumstances. I have nothing but excellent things to ay about them, and when people ask me for recommendations or advice, I always refer them to South Davis Vet or their sister clinic in West Davis. They have been nothing but patient and empathetic with me and my pets throughout the many ailments and procedures. I'm not a quick client - I ask a lot of questions, some of which are fairly particular - and am always provided thorough answers. If they don't have time in the moment, they communicate that kindly, set up a follow-up conversation right then, and follow through as promised. Furthermore, they are patient and careful with my cat, who gets incredibly stressed at vet clinics and is a bit of a terror - as in, cannot even have a basic preliminary physical exam without sedation if I'm not present (and sometimes even if I am). I've seen vets and vet techs get exasperated by her antics and/or seem affronted all my questions, but I've never encountered that here. They approach each case with good humor, compassion, and respect. A few examples: When my elderly dog suddenly began having major seizures, they fit us in on an emergency basis as soon as I could get her there. When it came time to put her down, they didn't give me a referral but instead came to my home personally so she could be with familiar people in her final moments. Her last breaths were content and calm, and that means more to me than words can express. A year or so ago, a colleague called me in tears in the middle of the night to ask for advice about making decisions for her cat, who was in critical care at UCD. I was able to provide her my personal insights on weighing the options in life-threatening circumstances, but obviously wasn't qualified to speak specifically to her cat's health issues. Although my colleague was not a client of theirs, I left a message with South Davis on her behalf that night, asking if they could please spare time for a phone call with her as soon as possible. Sure enough, I received a call first thing in the morning (like 7:30 in the morning) from one of their vet techs who was ready to consult for this situation. The cat in question had, regrettably, already passed before the night's end, so they never connected with my colleague, but I am still impressed by their willingness to help out someone in need who had never employed their services prior. More recently, my cat began to suffer acute respiratory issues and had to spend the entire night an an emergency vet, who ended up sending me home with a cat who could not remain stable at home. This emergency clinic was good overall, but had actually prescribed me a form of critically important medication that is not available locally for whatever reason. I ended up relying on South Davis to adjust my cat's treatment plan to instead use a more accessible drug. They spent quite a bit of time with me across several phone calls throughout the day and provided the information and guidance to get what I needed from the emergency clinic. This ultimately allowed me to get my cat the meds she needed to stabilize without being subjected to another traumatizing vet visit. They also followed up the next day to see how my cat was doing, and set up a phone call appointment to further refine her treatment plan without me having to ask. I've had pets all my life and have worked with many different vets over the years, and this clinic is the best I've had the good fortune to work with - both in terms of the quality of care at a single appointment and the consistency of this quality throughout the years. They are committed to compassionate, comprehensive care customized to each patient's needs and each client's life situation. I realize this is a novel of a review, but I hope it sheds some light on the excellent standards of care South Davis Vet (and their sister clinic, West Davis Vet) upholds.

Due to the pandemic, the staff have you park and send a text. They come out to retrieve your pet while you wait in the car. An examination is conducted and the vet comes out to your car to discuss the results of the exam. I found this to work well.

The front office is very rude. They have called me and asked why I missed an appointment and I have been in and back home. They ordered food I paid them and when there was a problem they wouldn't help resolve it. I have gone to appointments on time in the past and waited up to 20 minutes with no other customers waiting. Seemed like a party in the back. The docs are excellent but front office is a nightmare

Always fair priced. Show a lot of caring about our animals. Good hours and days of service.

We got our corgi neutered here. They were very kind and helpful. Hes a very timid dog, so they let us be there when he was waking up to keep him comfortable. Wonderful staff!

The staff here is awesome! My cat, Chicken, is incredibly scared around new people, but they are always very kind and caring with him, and they even said how they looked forward to our visit. I can trust their recommendations. Following their advice, Chicken was able to lose almost two pounds, and I learned about the Seresto flea collar which has worked great for him.

Wouldn't trust our pooch to anyone else.

Just okay, they care a niche about your Pets and can perform all the standard veterinarian tasks. My fervent experience in an emergency situation leaves a bunch to be desired but I imagine its the same with most general practionare veterinarians. Certainly a number of things could be improved.

Best vets in town. They care as much about your pets as you do.

They are very caring and competent. We had to put out cat to sleep, and they made the process peaceful. They were very kind with our little sweetie and with us.
