I had a great experience at City of Angels. I brought in my cat for a urinary blockage, which can be lethal if untreated. They took him in immediately. They gave me a very detailed estimate of the costs. The doctor called me to explain what was going on and how long he might have to stay in the hospital. He ended up staying 3 days, and the doctor called me twice each day with an update. They discharged him with clear instructions, and a few sample cans of the specialized urinary diet. They even ended up refunding me for some of the medicine he didn't end up needing. All in all, a very smooth experience, and glad I found them in this emergency. I'll definitely use them in the future (although hopefully no more emergencies will arise).

I called ahead of time the security guard tells me that they're closed I told him I spoke to somebody before I got there then they wanted to do a long process plus charge me a fee to see my cat at first I wanted to put him down but then I thought about saving him so then he talks to me in a tone as if it was inconvenience to him to go back and forth to speak to a veterinarian I had to go all the way to Pasadena by then my cat was suffering even more they were going to charge me $155 just to see him here it cost me $255 to put him down r i p Chuck I'm going to miss you everyday

I’ve seen them in action. Dog in distress and they came out and took care of the. I brought my dog here for dog bite treatment. They took care of my dog. It’s a bit pricy but I guess that’s the going rate for ER’s

My German shepherd (6 year old) service dog had accidentally sprained her ankle and had been limping for two days, on the third day being a Saturday, I took her to the Emergency hospital and waited for an hour and 30 mins waiting for the doctor to see her, but after telling them that she has severe separation anxiety they took her to the staff only side of the hospital without me which caused complications. The nurse then returned my dog less than 4 mins later, saying: “the doctor will see your dog shortly, we just can’t manage her yet with how she is right now”. After that I sat in a chair for another 2 and a half hours waiting for the nurse to come back and check my dog. Once she came back, they decided to muzzle her even though the only thing she did was bark out in fear, when they could’ve prevented this by letting her stay with me. What was even worse was that literally 10 mins later they bring her out again saying the doctor checked her and they will give me a call about the situation. Once I finished my conversation with the doctor on the phone, they then said that I had to wait for the medication which was taking too long because another pet owner had an emergency that apparently needed more attention than filling out medications which could’ve taken less than half an hour, (in which I still waited 45 mins for) in the end I waited for a total of 4 hours and almost 30 mins, in the end I feel as though after the first hour I should’ve received some medical attention, since I’m an individual with special needs and my dog need medical attention from the hospital.

Our dog Sheyna had a seizure that left her limp. We took her here to the ER which at the time was relatively empty. We quickly got the news of her terminal condition delivered very compassionately by Dr. Cashin who examined her. He offered various options but it was cleat we had the difficult decision to make to euthanize. The staff, Rosie and Ace, were kind, caring, empathetic and helpful. The situation we found ourselves in came on very suddenly but I couldn't have imagined a more thoughtful environment to have an end of life event. Everything was explained in detail and we had as much time as we needed with our little girl, Sheyna, before she was taken out of her misery. The room that was provided was serene and Zen-like which we much appreciated. Dr. Cashin was compassionate and kind from beginning to end and we stayed with her while she passed on. Big thank you to Rosie, Ace and Dr. Cashin. Highly recommend City of Angels for emergencies and end-of-life consideration.

This is the worst place ever. They told me the total would be $296 and I never received a receipt or anything, they never told me the real cost, after few hours they sent an email and the total is $596, this is insane, they just did some x-rays and the visit, my cat looks the same and they charged me this crazy amount

Apologies for the story time here but I wanted to be as thorough as possible with my experience. Had one of the rudest/traumatizing moments in my life from dealing with this emergency room on Father's Day of all days. Went in because my puppy Jacki wasn't eating and was throwing up, got some tests done and took her in for observation. So far so good but this is where it all goes south. I got the bill and I told them I there is no way I could afford this and they blatantly said, multiple times, "we're GOING to take you to collections" We're coming out of a pandemic, figured they'd be a little more understanding. After some time we worked out a payment plan under the condition that I take Jacki home right then and there. Mind you, the person explaining this to me is doing so out in the wide open in front of everyone that is waiting for their pets putting my financially burdened situation out there and almost purposely saying this with an overly loud voice. Heavy set person with dyed hair and tattoos. That's not even the worst part, and I appreciate them trying to do me a solid in making this payment plan work, at the end of the day I was just happy to see and hold Jacki again. As soon as we started heading home she started whimpering and crying and I thought, "maybe she's finally hungry and has a bit more energy now." Fast forward three hours now Jacki is in pain, making the weirdest noises I have ever heard in my life. Her breathing was erratic and had a shivering kind of rhythm to it. Her whimpers became yelps of pain and cries for help. I called them back and they told me to bring Jacki back but now also outlined the price of doing so. At that time it dawned on me that these people aren't here to help your pets. They are here just for your money. Jacki died in my arms 20 minutes later. I feel that this emergency room is completely responsible for this and could have done a better job with explaining what was actually a really dire situation. I feel very strongly that once I told them I could not afford the treatment that they wanted me out of there as soon as possible. At one point the same person with the dyed hair gave me two options, "you can take her now if you pay whatever you can right now or you can take her later. We're going to take you to collections and you're going to have to wait a couple of hours." This place is so unprofessional so please, I beg you, if you have an issue with your pet please take them anywhere but here. They are totally taking advantage of the situation that there are not a lot of options for pets in need on a Sunday. I STRONGLY feel that once they found out that I was not going to be able to pay the full amount at that exact moment that they just wanted me out of there as soon as possible. To top things off, they said they would email me the prescriptions right away and to be fair they were really busy and I desperately wanted to get out of there. I called them within 20 minutes of leaving, "ok, I'll be sure to remind them. I was the one helping you so I have your file ready" still never received anything. I called one last time to tell them what happened and that I would not need those prescriptions anymore because Jacki had unfortunately passed. Their response, "ok, I'll make a note of that"

This place never ceases to disappoint. Watch out for misdiagnosis and inappropriate medications that will threaten the lives of your pets. Would you take a child to a hospital that had a reputation of doing that? Had to go to this sorry excuse for a clinic because its the only 24 hour emergency in the area. So it gets one star for that. As for pet care: The treatment received from this sham of a clinic was laughable. Read the 1 star reviews, spot on, pet lives for $$$ We won’t ever be back so i don’t care to complain in detail, but suffice to say that The doctors here are cold hearted and couldn’t care less if your animal dies right there on the spot as long as you rack up a big bill.

And I just want to say thank you to the Dr. Centola and the receptionist Mariela, they were the best, took excellent care of my puppy! I appreciate your help! The company should have more doctors and staff like them!❤❤ people who actually care for the animals! The dogs or any other animal we have as a family member at home!

Word can not show how thankful I am to them for saving my dog life. My dog had a accident while I was away from home. She cut her mouth on something sharp causing her to bleed like a fish. I return home and found she was hurt and bleeding. I took her to the vet down the street from my house and the refuse to help due to they not having any doctors on duty but there were nurses that could have help but choose not to due to too much blood. I took her to another vet 3 miles away and they refuse as well due too the doctor was leaving for the day in a hour!!!!!!! And the care she needed would take longer. They halfass wrap the wound anfd told me I needed an 24 hour hospital. I found this place on google and brought her here. My dog had been bleeding for 2 whole hours and was barely hanging on when I got there. The staff rushed to my truck and yoom her in and work on her for some hours and was able to save her. I'm some thankful for them saving her. I wish all Vets were like them helpful kind and even when I had trouble paying they still work on her and work with me to get her help. God bless this hospital!!!!!!!!!!

This place dispensed a wrong medication to my dog for treatment of leukemia!!! Please double check and triple check the medication when the staff hands you the medication!!! They gave us a wrong medication which is for another dog who shares the same first name as my dog, Cooki. His name is Cooki Gilson instead of Cooki Chan (my dog's name) and his full name was printed on the bottle of the medicine????. I'm not talking about a vitamin! The medicine is a chemotherapeutic medicine for cancer which is practically a poison! Even handling them requires putting on gloves so how could the staff be so careless?? The first two weeks of the chemo pills are of totally different colors than the subsequent ones. I highly suspected that those are not actually the one my dog was supposed to take. After the first two weeks of therapy, his condition deteriorated. Cooki’s lymphocytes counts increased from 9000 to 12000 and his kidney function value got worst as well!!! It was not until the subsequent medicine was taken that his white blood cells count eventually came down. My dog's blood works have been showing continuous improvement after the correct medications were started. Therefore it makes me very suspicious that my dog wasn't taking the correct chemotherapeutic medicine for the first week although there's no way to confirm and the staff of course did not admit any wrong doing. I am so glad that our senior pal is still here. The fortunate thing was that they didn’t kill him!!! I'm very disappointed and very unhappy!!! How could this have happened? We are planning to file a complaint to the veterinarian board!!! Someone needs to investigate this!!! This is serious!!! If our pal is a human...do you know how serious this is? They are very unprofessional and careless!!! They were supposed to send all the tests results to our regular vet after our very first visit but it didn’t happen until we caught their mistakes which was at least 2 weeks later. Our regular Vet, the one who referred us to this specialty group said “I didn’t know that Cooki is on Chemo now.” OH My!!!! We are very very upset. How can you trust them and send your furry friend to them again??? We want to contact the owner of this practice and we think the owner need to take this seriously! They didn’t do any refund of the wrong medication or any other compensation to us!!! Zero!!! Zero!!! Unbelievable!!!

3 reviews 1.0 star rating 7/23/2016 If I can prevent even one person from going to this hospital and experiencing what I recently did, I will be proud. Our beloved dog went in for a biopsy and came thru it well, we were sent pictures of him sitting up and he was able to walk. During his overnight stay he started to go lethargic which turned into a week long life and death ordeal. He suddenly had issues that he'd never experienced before walking thru their doors, things that had been completely checked out prior to his biopsy and did not exist. Branter was his doctor and she was simply too busy to focus on our urgent situation. After 6 days in hospital, they got him back on his feet and sent him home, but that only lasted a week when he started bleeding in his gastrointestinal tract and was rushed back to the hospital. Branter was there and sent us an email which essentially said that she should've had him on the medication to stop this from happening but they can fix the problem with treatment...12 hours later he was in cardiac arrest and passed away. The original condition my dog had was NOT immediately life threatening in any way, it was something that could've been managed with diet and medication. He died from the treatments they did to fix the bleeding that would've never happened if he was on the proper medication. This is 100% veterinarian error in my opinion. The fact that he went from a happy dog, walking twice a day and showing no outward symptoms, to dead in just two weeks is unforgivable and devastating. I sincerely hope our story will deter others from risking their animal's health at this hospital

Best equipped facility in LA with more specialty doctors than anywhere else. Great experiences here after 6 years of service at various occasions. Sadly, some medical conditions are beyond current technology and not every patient has a successful outcome, but the doctors will be upfront about the pets chances.

I went to this hospital with a critically sick dog. I was told I should put her down but I refused. I was called later be told that she was doing well. I went to see her and she was up and doing fine. Dr. Cole was caring for her and he is wonderful. She was there 2 days and the bill was $4000+. When I got home I noticed she was limping so I took her back in as she was just fine before the heart emergency. I was told it was a soft tissue damage. Later I was concerned that I might not have enough meds as I had ordered them and they were being shipped. I went in to buy 2 pills and was told one was $19 and the other was $9.00. I chose not to take them. Accidentally, her doctor saw us and came to see her. We chatted, he petted her and looked her over and we left. Two months later I got a bill marked past due for $114.00. I called and was told I was being charged for the meds I didn't take and a doctors examination that I didn't have. I can only say that I am deeply disappointed. The prices that they charge are outrageous! When your dog is in crisis they have you by the throat. That is bad enough but when they deliberately charge for services and meds not rendered it's disgusting. I wrote to Dr. Miller who owns the operation and he ignored me. All I can say is Dr. Cole is a wonderful doctor but the facility is a money gouging ripoff. If you go there be prepared to pay thousands! Remember I was told to put her down and had I listened she would now be dead. That was November! She's doing just fine! BE CAREFUL!!! The help are all wonderful and the facility is clean but their billing is over the top. Frankly all critical care centers are ripoffs but if you can afford it, this is as good as any. However, be prepared to pay for anything they choose to charge you for whether or not you had the services.
