Purple Paws Pet Clinic Coronado, California

Purple paws do not answer the phone, have not returned voice mail messages, Allivet has attempted 12 times to email them for a refill on my pets meds! And called them 3 times only to get voicemail. This has nothing to do with Holliday season! I went through this last time. One pill was over $100 but I can get 180 for less than $50. Now to get them to approve the meds is a different story. Guess it’s time to change vets!

Your pet deserves better! This place is owned by greedy business people, not veterinarians. In fact, there's rarely a doctor present or available to speak to. They are extremely expensive and unprofessional. I had been going there a year and they still all referred to my female dog as "he" and "him." I recently spent $4700 on FHO surgery. A traveling surgeon performed the procedure since they don't have a resident surgeon, and they literally sent us home with ZERO instructions. No rehab information, no checkup call to make sure she was OK, nothing. I called several weeks later to schedule a followup appointment, which was supposed to be included, and they tried to charge me for it. I'm done.

Dr. Paar is great! They take time to explain things, and give great love and care to my Bengal Cat. Their prices are reasonable for the location and I was pleasantly surprised :)

I am selective about who I trust with my dogs and since becoming a client at Purple Paws almost a year ago, my pets have experienced high-quality and consistent vet care at every appointment. Dr. Paar and the veterinary staff are thorough, caring, and helpful. Very thankful for Purple Paws!

I have cared for dogs for over 20 years. My rescue is 5 years old and had been vomiting and with diarrhea for three days. Most vets could not see her for several days. The wait time at the emergency room was over three hours. I took her to Purple Paws for the first time. We were received by a very friendly and courteous staff. They immediately took her in. The veterinarian called me with the diagnosis. She explained the cause of the symptoms and the treatment plan. She patiently and professionally answered all my questions and was genuinely understanding of my concerns. This place is simply the best veterinary clinic in San Diego County!

I took my dog bella here and She is usually TERRIFIED of the vet! The staff was so welcoming and friendly and calmed her down immediately! Dr. Paar was so amazing and knowledgeable and I couldn’t have asked for a better experience! We will be going on back for sure!

We are pleased with the care our nervous dog receives with Dr. Paar. She is responsive and works with us to make a care plan that fits our needs and our dog’s needs. She also was very good to our elderly cat when it was time to send him over The Rainbow Bridge during COVID. They did everything in their power to make his final moments peaceful, and to hold space.

Save your money and do not get your long-haired cat groomed here. I took my Persian cat here to be groomed and not only did the price increase each time I talked to the staff, but the grooming itself was poorly executed. What initially began as a $115 grooming session eventually turned into $200, with a groom that I could have done better myself. An hour after I dropped my cat off to be groomed, I received a phone call that they would need to sedate him in order to conduct the grooming, which would be an additional $72. I was a little irritated because I had force-fed him medicine that they had prescribed him specifically for this visit the evening prior and an hour before the appointment, which I had been assured would help the grooming session go “smoothly.” But I figured he was already there, and if it resulted in a good groom it would be worth the cost. About two hours later, I received a call that they had over sedated him and would then need to charge me another $30 to do a reversal on the sedation. At the time, I was busy handling a toddler and said a quick fine before hanging up the phone. However, I do not understand why they would charge a costumer for their mistake. This really frustrated me, but had the groom itself been done well, I would have let it go. Once I got my cat home, not only was I still dealing with a cat with as much shedding hair as he had prior to the appointment, but he still had knots under his front legs and behind his back legs, he wasn’t properly shaved around his butt to prevent things from getting stuck from the litter box, and he had diarrhea several times due to the many medications that he received. What was supposed to make my life a little easier only added additional work once I got home. I had to bathe him (twice), properly shave around his private areas, brush out the remaining knots, and wash my couch covers and bed spread due to him getting sick. I would have been better off throwing $200 in the wind. Prior to writing this review, I called and left a message to express my grievances and requested a call back, which I never received. ***Edit to add: Yes, I am absolutely positive that it was your vet clinic. I have added a picture of the receipt. If you don't have this on file, that is even more reason customers should NOT be using your services.

Absolutely love Purple Paws!! My dog Skipper is really nervous when it comes to vets. Thanks to Covid I couldn't go in with him to his first appointment here for his shots and I was really nervous. They reassured me he would be fine and the lady who came and took him back was so nice. He was so excited when she mentioned lots of treats. ???? The vet called my husband and talked to him about the visit and told us everything they did and what he needed. They were very thorough and really put my mind at ease that he was getting the best care. He came out smiling and wagging his tail and was so happy. I will recommend them to everyone I meet! Very reasonable prices considering the area as well. He wasn't even sore from his shots which tells me they were very gentle with him and he enjoyed his time. Anytime I call and ask questions they are always eager to answer and give me the best care advice. A million stars! First of all, covid safe and professional. Secondly and most notably, my dog loved his first visit so much he wanted to go back inside with the staff. Haha! Will be using this vet for our two littles during our time in SD.

This place is absolutely amazing. Doctor parr is so knowledgeable and friendly and made me feel so comfortable about the decisions I was making. Staff is amazing and has your best interests I’m so pleased to have found this place to care for my animals .

Recently started going to purple paws, very happy with the experience. Dr. Paar is excellent and very knowledgeable. She spends a lot of time explaining the procedures. They have very reasonable prices.

They took in my pet ChiChi in as she seemed very ill. They were great with her and I will be bringing all my dogs in for future care. Love ❤ love them.

Purple Paws is amazing. I am super glad we chose them to care for our Bengals. Customer service and patient care is awesome. They were always attentive and always willing to answer our questions. We are moving out of state and so badly wish they could move with us. We love them so much that if we are ever back in San Diego we will most definitely seek them out for any future care of our pets. Thank you so much to the doctors and staff for being so kind and great. Kit Kat, Daisy and Charlie will miss you as will their humans.

The service me and my pup are provided is always amazing! The staff are professional, caring, and knowledgeable. Being able to find a vet I trust that is local to me is an honor. Wouldn’t go anywhere else now that I’ve experienced PPPC!!

They showcased amazing service and they were helpful to my dog , Most place are close and I’m glad to had chance to visit them and have my dog stay in a safe and nice place for his medical service.

I quite literally cannot say enough positive things about Purple Paws. They're amazing and have done a great job of taking care of my 14 year old girl and me. One of the few vets I've come across that realize you need to take care of the people parents too. Great prices too, their prices are lower than places I’ve been which are not half nice!

I always have a great experience when I bring my Aussies to Purple Paws. I feel that any questions I have are answered thoroughly, and I have always been able to get in quickly. The clinic is beautifully designed, too!

I love Purple Paws Pet Clinic! Dr. McCalley is fantastic! In fact, the entire staff is wonderful and very caring. Whenever I have an issue with one of my two pugs, I can always get an appointment the same day that I call. I REALLY like that. And, I also really like their wellness plans. It helps to spread the cost of the annual stuff (exam, blood and fecal tests, vaccinations, etc.) over the course of a year. I highly recommend Purple Paws to anyone who loves their pet and wants quality health care for that pet.

I had such an amazing experience here. my dog was very happy with the service great price great staff and the wait was very short. Good care and very nice office. Prices are very high and they are always leaving things out of the cost so by the time your done you may pay 50+ mire then qouted.
