Please please please DO NOT take your pet here. I was shocked when my dog returned home yesterday from an ear hemotoma surgery with NO dressing or bandage on the wound and the ear was completely bloody. What kind of doctor sends an animal home with no bandages after a $1400 surgery!?! There were also no printed after care instructions, just a bag of pills and a very disoriented dog. We tried to call that night because we were so concerned about their lack of care but no one answered the phone. We called back this morning at 8am and were told we would get a call back from a vet or vet tech when they arrived at 9am. It is almost 2pm and we are still waiting. Tried to call back but we were put on hold. Seriously, even in an emergency do NOT take your pet here. I am so so sad to read about the owners whose pets have died under the care of this clinic. I am truly disturbed by my experience and will never subject my dog to this clinic again. Castro Valley Animal Hospital staff should truly be ashamed - they do not care for animals.

We have been coming here for a few years and their service continues to deteriorate. The latest issue included trying to get critical heart medication for my dog that they prescribed. They offered no help or support in getting the medication and just said “we don’t have it”.

You will get one price over the phone, just to get you in. When you show up, you you’ll get another price; we got 100% more expensive price. If you reject it, they will still charge you $55 for “examination”. What a style…

I took my cat there because she was inactive and scratching a lot. My first time there. The receptionist took her to see the vet. I waited in the waiting room. The vet came out about a half hour later and talked to me. She said Ariel could have fleas. They took some tests and told me i would get a call from vet later about the results. I got a call and was told Ariel was ok. The test results were not ready yet. She would call the next day. No call. I called them . No results yet. I told them please call asap. Very unprofessional. I called again and was hung up on. Not ok. My cat passed away. I wont go back there again.

To Castro Valley Animal Hospital, Kitchie Dasalla died tonight. He was released from your care in Friday. He wasn't even brought out to us in his crate I had to ask for it. His bandage was so tight that his paw swelled to 5 times it's size. He was thin and had cuts on his nose and scabs all over his arms. I was shocked by his appearance. I felt betrayed by you as I entrusted his care to you. He quickly deteriorated. I am angry because I believe that I should have been advised to not prolong his life with further treatment. I believe that your hunger for money was more important than the quality of my dog's life. You took advantage of my vulnerability. Now I have lost my pet and owe over $3,000.00. You should be ashamed of yourselves. I will be going further with my complaint. This will not stop here. You have destroyed my faith and trust and I will never forget it. I will tell everyone about your money grubbing ways. Stay tuned.

Just like what other reviews are saying, this doctor only cares about money! He first said my dog’s ears are not infected, then said they are infected. I asked why he said that and he replied with “I don’t know”. I asked him if he can show me what materials to use on my dogs ears and he said, “that takes too much time. I can’t do that”. He made me buy antibiotics and pain relievers when my dog did not need them. Avoid this clinic! Although the staff was nice, the doctor cares about money. Will not be going back.

I am updating my review to one star because I have called this vet ten times to have the x-ray images sent to my usual vet and was on five of those occasions assured that they were sent. I just walked out of an appointment where are my usual vet was not able to access the files because no password for the locked file were provided. I will be reporting this veterinarian to the appropriate agency with a complaint and I guess I will continue to call this veterinarian repeatedly until actual digital image files are sent as they are required. I’m starting to wonder if the promise made by Castro Valley vet at the time I agreed $700 imaging — that the files could easily be sent to any other vet — was a lie. I will be taking the documentation failures up with the Veterinary Medical Board, which states that “California Code of Regulation section 2032.3 states that radiographs are the property of the facility that originally ordered them to be prepared. Radiographs shall be released to another veterinarian upon request of another veterinarian who has the authorization of the animal owner” and that vets who fail to do so should be reported to the board. ——————————————————————- Old review: I am really grateful to this vet for being able to see our pandemic pup within a day and give me an honest assessment of her limp. I had already done my research and was almost prepared for the cost of x-rays which, looking at them component component, are a very fair price. The appointment was on time and the waiting room was comfortable. The vet was very kind and the staff were very sweet and even with my nervous small dog, they were able to make her feel comfortable which no other vet has been able to do. I’m super grateful that the vet took time to talk to me about the different possibilities that we might find on examination and on x-ray, and the various approaches that we would take for a sprain versus a broken bone and the kinds of things we might find. I am also super grateful that the vet uses a quality imaging company and the x-ray was read quicker than I could have expected. The staff took great care of my little pup, and my dog was so happy to come home but didn’t seem any worse for wear. To get quality images, we have to sedate a pet, and the price for sedation is the same as I have paid for any sedation anywhere else so it seems to me that this vets prices are absolutely fair and I am so grateful that they didn’t try to sell me on unnecessary cones, casts, gauze, all sorts of different things they could have convinced me of. I am very grateful for the peace of mind that having these images done quickly has provided, I know that my little for baby doesn’t have anything critical in her foot that requires additional medical attention. Was it cheap? Vets are never cheap. But I feel that I was taken very good care of today and the medical needs of my little pup were very well addressed. It is my bad luck that the diagnostic imaging also turned up some congenital issues that will probably need long-term management and that I need to consider deeply and have some second or third opinions about, but the vet was very upfront and the staff were extremely helpful and very willing to help me get the information that I need. Thank you Castro valley!

They don’t pick up the phone! Have their teen employees work with the customers. Brought my puppy to get neutered, they did a poor job stitching the wound, which eventually got infected and had to be restitched. Gave me the wrong size e collar. They charged me for after care. The main doctor brings her kids to work ! Very unprofessional.

Money money money!!! Greed comes first- such a demoralizing clinic not only to its human clients, but the animals too! We had a scheduled appointment at 6pm to take our dog to have him checked after having hypoglycemic episode and when we called back to confirm we were told we were not on the calendar. We asked if he could still be seen because of their administrative error and was told we can come in, but now it’s consider an emergency and the our planned visit normally that would’ve been $46 is now $95? Who in the world does business like this? It’s not even the money, but the pure greed! Instead of admitting fault that they had double booked our appointment and should’ve taken us in without additional charges, they decided to take advantage of a unfortunate situation to make a quick buck and putting our puppy’s life in jeopardy. I’m not posting this because we care about the money, it is because of the immoral approach in which they tried to do business. Money is top priority with this vet clinic, so please be aware if you choose to go with them. I am taking my business elsewhere and so is the rest of my family!

HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE!!! do not take your pet here. I took my dog Leo here after he was having some very scary symptoms. He had a bunch of tests and exams done and they had NO answers. He would see a different doctor every time so I had to explain EACH time what was wrong with him (dont they take & read notes??). It was hard to move forward when I had to start from the beginning each time. Horrible communication between staff. Whatever. Doctor finally said its PROBABLY food allergies. I struggled for a year trying to find the right food for him, even putting him on a homemade diet. No changes. I finally decided to take him to VCA Lewelling and OMG from the start they seemed so much more invested in figuring out what was wrong with Leo. They took a completely different approach and tested for things the vets at castro valley never even mentioned. FINALLLY SOME ANSWERS!!! I started taking him to VCA end of May 2021 (its now Aug 2021) and since then i've been calling Castro Valley to send over his medical records so his new vets have something to work with. THEY FINALLY SENT IT TODAY!!! OVER TWO MONTHS LATER!!! and i called so many times! at least twice a week probably annoying the poor technicians (who are really nice) but each time they would tell me "oh we'll tell the doctors" and each time i would speak to a different technician and have to explain everything from the beginning again (POOR COMMUNICATION) and nothing!! apparently they had sent them out in June but VCA and I NEVER received them and each time i would call they would explain they were already sent.... again each time... i would have to explain.... alll over again.... no we never received them please send again. they would tell me it was a process and each vet would have to sign off.... ok then whatever please just do it!! i called again today for the last time explaining my experience & frustrations and the technician tells me "ok ill just email them to you now" YAY!!! but what??? are you serious?? it was that easy??? each time they would explain its a whole process???? so annoying!! I HAVE BEEN WAITING. whatever, i FINALLY got what i & his new vet needed and im done with them. i dont ever leave bad reviews but this is about my dog's health and wellbeing and I dont want another pet owner to waste their time and money like i did. Technicians are nice sure but it seems like there is just horrible communication and lack of genuine care. AVOID GOING HERE.

DO NOT TAKE YOUR ANIMAL HERE. WE BROUGHT OUR KITTEN - after 5 minutes the vet recommended an emergency surgery. 2k dollars later our cat was completely depleted and he did not actually do an accurate review of our kitten's condition. After 2 second opinions we found that surgery is not something that is even the correct approach. I would suggest taking your animal to any other vet prior to choosing this location.

They don’t give you information that you’re supposed to know. I told them my cat was still nursing and asked if she was still able to get vaccinated and spayed and the lady on the phone said yes. They didn’t tell me that she wasn’t supposed to eat and they didn’t tell me that if my cat is still nursing she can not get vaccinated. So when I went it from my appointment the next day they made me wait 45mins for them to call me and say my cat can’t get spayed or vaccinated when the lady over the phone could’ve told me. This is why I called before to ask and make sure and because the lady didn’t know what she was talking about they made me waste my time.

REVIEW PART 1!! If I could give this review 0 stars I absolutely would. Yesterday, February 13, 2021 I took in my Guinea Pig for an emergency appointment because I thought that she MIGHT be having an allergic reaction to something. The vet called me, agreed, even though I had stated the last new food product I had given her was on the 4th of February, 10 DAYS AGO. If you know anything about Guinea Pigs you know that because their stomachs are so small they digest things extremely fast, hence the large amount of feces they produce. I had explained to them that I did not think it would be the treat considering it was so long ago but they wrote it off as an allergic reaction anyway. Not knowing what to do and overwhelmed with emotions I accepted the charges when they discussed the estimate with me and had them administer what they thought would MAKE HER BETTER. Listen I am no vet, but I do have a wide variety of knowledge when it comes to Guinea Pigs and I definitely was not 100% on board with the fact that it was was an allergic reaction. However, since all appointments are done on the phone and there were other dogs waiting, the process of checking her out seemed extremely rushed like they just wanted to get me out of there because she's a small animal and therefore not that important. Leaving the vet I felt unsure about the meds they gave me and even called them back later for clarification and they said yes to continue with the use of the drugs. A couple hours later after the appointment I had notice her overall swelling had gone down from her being at least 3x her size, however, her belly still seemed extremely enlarged as though there was something wrong with her internally that they did not feel around to check for, which is what I paid $95 for them to do the exam on her.

Dr.Brar killed my cat. This is not a place you want to take your pets to. Look on the reviews on Yelp and just see how horrible this vet is. They killed my pet and aren’t taking any accountability.

Everything ran very smoothly. Due to covid19 they're doing drop off apointments which are still fine. I brought in my cat and they confirmed information. After that they took him inside and checked him out. Brought him back and told me everything they needed to do for him before his procedure and gave me a complete breakdown of what it'd cost. No problems in any part of the visit and my cat was his normal self afterwards

Our girl was hospitalized recently and we were worried sick. There’s no overnight staff which we weren’t used to but Dr. Brar got her xrays done quickly but the next day Dr. Saghn did an awful job. No full analysis of the blood work or xrays and when we picked up our girl we were the ones who had to ask the discharge questions. We had to keep calling to reach her because the tech who we spoke with said they wanted her hospitalized for another 3 days???? But after calling and getting a hold of the vet because she was y’all busy for us, she told us we could pick her up today. When we picked her up Dr. Saghn gave us zero next steps. Never coming back here again.

Very unhelpful. I really don’t recommend it at all. They try to charge you the max they could without giving care to the pet. Castro Valley animal hospital is the worse ever.

I am so happy that I came here. They were so nice over the phone and by person. I had an appointment at Hayward animal clinic and they turned me away because they said that my dog was not let them examine him. I don’t understand why this people work as Vet if they can’t handled a dog. I called Castro Valley animal Hospital they took care of my dog. I will be coming here for sure. Thank you!!!

Our almost 14 year old Yellow Lab mix transferred over after our long time Vet retired. The last year was spent navigating quality care as our senior dog declined in health. He bounced back three times in part to the patience and guidance of the Vet professionals (and excellent hours!). When the time comes to add a new addition to our family again, we will return with confidence and reassurance, it is met with the same care. **new patients: FYI, many of the images are the old location next to Golfland, they are no longer there. Check them out at their beautiful , new location.

Used to be great. New ownership and staff. Never going back again. Brought in my cat with a severe limp. Dr. said he didn't know what was wrong and didn't know what to do. I emphasized the injured leg. He said he didn't know and recommended an x-ray. Sure, an x-ray sounds good. I received a call back with estimate. 600 dollars... A few years ago, this same cat had emergency surgery to save her from an 8 inch long cut along the abdomen. Emergency surgery, anesthesia, two days recovery, etc... 350 dollars... Today's "emergency exam" consisted of a 5 minute visit, total. The cat went in, briefly stood on a table and left again. No vitals, no range of motion check, nothing. All that was taken was my 95 dollars. I don't know what is going on at Castro Valley Animal Hospital, but it is not the same place it used to be. Stay far away.

My furry son went in recently for his vaccinations and checkup. They're being extra protective and taking the dog only but I would have liked to go in with him, just like one parent with the child for their vaccinations at the hospital.
