I was looking for a low fee spay/neuter clinic and had to look far from my town because the services were impacted and local vets were price gouging ($1000 quote for my free barn kitty.) My experience at Canyon Veterinary Hospital made me feel like I had gone back to a kinder and gentler time. My kitty and I were treated with such kind professionalism and the price to spay her was so reasonable. I wish I lived closer to make you all my permanent vet! Thank you for providing affordable spay/neuter services and the overall positive experience.

Great vet, great customer service

First time coming here and let me just say that I wish everyone had a vet awesome as Dr. Barrett! From the moment we arrived at the office we had a great experience! Having been to other vets where they pull and grab your pet trying to get them into the office, it was very refreshing to have them be considerate about our pet being nervous coming in. They took their time getting him comfortable so they could examine him and at the end of the visit he was almost jumping on Dr. Barrett! I will definitely be recommending this place to everyone!

Dr. Barrett is the best, I rescued a dog from an animal shelter and they performed the worst spaying and/or neutering procedure, if Dr. Barrett had not intervened my dog would have died. Joy is now 6 years old...And in the best health. I also take my cat to this location and cannot say enough positive comments about the doctor and his staff.

This is a fantastic place to take your pet. We really like the Dr Barrett a lot. The office has an old fashion feel which might be a little off putting to some, but the care is top notch!

Hands down, the most honest vet I have ever met. Dr. Barrett is simply wonderful with my cats. I am so happy AND relieved to have finally found a veterinarian I trust, and bonus, he makes me laugh. Dr. Barrett is so knowledgeable, and actually looks at symptoms first, instead of ordering a litany of tests. How refreshing. I knew there had to be a vet out there somewhere who actually understood animals the way he does. I wouldn't go anywhere else. Once, I called the emergency vet I use in times of need, as my cat was acting a little off, and wondered if I should bring him in to them, or wait until the next day for my vet, and mentioned that I use Canyon Veterinary, and the young man said, "Oh, Dr. Barrett is your vet, he's the best", and said to just wait for him. That is a good review in itself.

I have been going here with my pets for almost 30 years and I wouldn't think of going anywhere else. Donna and Mary are the kindest, most knowledgeable and the absolute best in every way!!!! Dr. B is the most down to earth and thorough vet I have ever had the experience of dealing with. His bedside manner is above reproach. He listens to you and takes into consideration your situation and feelings as well as what is best for your pet and then is able to work with you to provide the best appropriate treatment for your pet. He always takes time to talk and does not make you feel rushed. I have greatly appreciated their understanding during the tough times (when I had to say goodbye to my babies) so that I could say goodbye in a way that I felt comfortable with. They are truly the BEST!!!

This is the BEST vet in Castro Valley I am sure! I went to Grove Way where our dog was neutered. Ever since he had skin issues, allergies. They always charged for the follow up visits and would guess his condition. I got tired of paying for meds and visits without resolution so I decided to get another opinion. This vet automatically knew what type of allergy our dog had. Gave meds that worked in matter of hours and this is the ONLY vet I will take our dog to!

We have 4 buddies, 3 dogs and a kitty. We take all of them to Dr.Barrett. He has a vast amount of intelligence from years of experience which he aproaches every matter with. He actually makes you feel good about spending your money there because you know your pet is getting the best possible care. His staff is awsome too. Very responsive and knowledgeable as well.
