I can’t recommend Barkmont highly enough! Kirk and Amanda were extremely responsive to our need for care of 4 dogs of varying ages and sizes while we were away last month for our daughter’s wedding. They stayed at our home with 2 dogs, and we chose to board the 2 others at Barkmont. All did well, and it was a huge relief knowing our pets were all cared for attentively! Thank you again so much for your attention to detail and kindness!

This place had a lot of positive reviews, so we tried it, but didn’t think it was a good fit. Our dog was definitely not happy here compared to his other sitters and returned covered in urine and we believe he caught some kind of cold while there. I think it’s pretty strange that they only have the cameras on in specific hours, and that the cameras are only in the play areas, not where the dogs are actually held. On the cameras off-hours, we saw the staff (who seem to be very friendly and good with the dogs!) bring the dogs out from some back area, take photos of them, then bring them back into the back area. We weren’t allowed to see the back area because of covid, so it’s kind of a mystery where the dogs are during the day and what conditions they’re in. No reason to think it’s nefarious, but why not have a camera where the dogs actually are, instead of just providing a short window of view time in specific play areas? At any rate, our dog came back covered in urine, hopefully his own, and seemed to have caught some kind of puppy cold while he was there, so obviously we won’t be returning. It wasn’t serious, he was fine, the staff is friendly and I’m sure they do their best considering all the positive reviews. But we won’t be going back, especially when there are so many sitters on apps who have more capacity for individual attention.

Update: Amanda called me back after her note and happily answered my questions. Thank you for your promptness! I called Tuesday about the puppy social package and an employee answered but he didn't seem sure of most of his responses. He said he would leave a note for the owners to return my call but they never did.

Hard to think they take much care with the dogs -- Especially hearing the scolding and banging around the building.

My dog Astor LOVES the Barkmont! I began bringing her there at just 4 months old for both daycare and over-night boarding. The facilities are clean and well-maintained. The staff pays close attention during playtime to ensure the safety of all pets. I also love the doggy webcam :) They also have bathing on-site, so after a stay, I get to pick up my Astor tired & clean. Rates are affordable compared to other Bay Area options, and the service is unbeatable!

The Barkmont is absolutely wonderful. They had my boisterous Vizsla puppy for a week of daytime "puppy socialization classes" and she came home a new dog. She's confident, happy, listens to her owners, approaches other dogs to play respectfully, and is overall easier to be with. It's clear thar every person who works at The Barkmont loves my pup when I drop her off. Thanks so much, Barkmont staff and owners!

The staff is always super friendly and willing to take the time to answer any questions I have. They love all (three) of my dogs and welcome them with so excitement! I love that they know my dogs so well and treat them as well as I do. No other daycare I’ve been to has made me so comfortable dropping my dogs off last minute. I would highly recommend Barkmont to any of my friends or family without hesitation :)

The people who run this place are dog lovers, witnessed the staff with the dogs and was impressed. very close and affordable...

Family was in the Bay Area for a weeklong trip from a couple states away. We dropped off our corgi for 3 days of daycare to allow us to explore SF a bit. The Barkmont staff were tuned in to our dog, and made sure he was adjusting to the new environment. We were able to check in during the day via webcam of the play areas. Our dog came home each night happy and exhausted. I definitely recommend the Barkmont.

A good place as home away from home for my dog. I can rely on them for safe boarding without disrupting my puppy's meal time, etc. My dog comes home exhausted - and we all know that a tired dog is a happy dog! The service is good, but a little expensive as a regular daycare/boarding option.

Takes good care of the dogs, my pup loves being there. However, at the price point I wish they'd do more with the dogs (walks, playing with them directly, etc) without having to pay even more.

Solid local dog hotel and day care. Facility is a bit small but the staff is great and the doggo is never disappointed!

The service is good. It seems like my dog actually likes this day care. I trust the staff, they are kind with dogs. The only problem is the price. It's too expensive.

It's fine for what it is - a place for our very active, playful, energetic puppy to socialize and play with other dogs. I don't really get the feeling that the staff cares all that much though.

My dog Zion loves going to The Barkmont. The people who work there are great and extremely nice to the dogs. The place has live webcams where you can watch your dog at anytime.

Wonderful people and wonderful place! My dog was one of the first to join The Barkeley and I've been very impressed by their friendliness, level of service and love of dogs. Maggie has a ton of fun and is very tired when she comes home. You can't ask for more than that!

The whole experience was so easy, the facilities is clean and thought-through, the staff is caring and communicative; I did not have to worry about a thing. It is all I could ask for.

We took our baby Chloe to the barkeley for a trail day and she loved it!! They give you a report card where they include pictures, videos, your doggys demeanor throughout the day, comments and the names of their four legged friends that they may have made during their stay. I am very happy with The Barkeley and have already told my friends about it who are excited to hear about a great daycare/boarding place for their babies. I am not looking forward to leaving my baby again but when I do I am very comfortable leaving her here knowing she is in great hands.

You couldn't ask for more caring and attentive folks to watch over your dogs when you have to be away. They are the best!

We've just started at the Barkeley but I'm pretty sure this is the place for us and daycare. Sensitive and attentive to our pups needs, I appreciate the cleanliness and number of different areas so your pup can go in the right one. I trust that she'll be safe and loved and I'm VERY excited that they'll be offering basic grooming soon so I don't have to run around to get her nails clipped.

Amanda was great. I needed to do a last minute booking for the weekend and she took our pup right in. She was professional and friendly. All the dogs we saw looked happy and sweet. When we picked our baby up she was calm and happy to see us. It was her first stay away from home and I wasn't worried a bit. Thank you Barkeley for being a perfect home away from home for Merkel.

Amanda and team do excellent work and their love for dogs shows. Not too many bells and whistles yet, but I'm sure they will expand their list of services as they receive more accolades and as their client list grows. I'm happy to see that there's a better place to go to when you can't take lovie with.

It was very, very clear that our dog Stella had a wonderful time during her week-long stay. It was also equally clear that the staff paid attention to her and worked to make her comfortable. I'm at ease knowing that we can leave her there in the future and she'll be well taken care of. The Barkeley know dogs!

My beagle stayed at The Barkeley for 12 days while I went to Europe. He loved it so much he didn't want to come back home with me :( We really appreciated the groupings of dogs by size and the consistent schedule implemented for all the dogs. My little love received plenty of tender loving care by a staff very invested in dog development. Normally, he gets separation anxiety because he is attached to my hip 24/7 but he was surrounded by constant care and other very nice dogs and really thrived in this environment. Looks like he lost a few pounds, too, I think from all the activity and other dogs he played with. The prices are very reasonable compared to other dog hotels in the surrounding areas. Strongly recommend. I won't go anywhere else for dog boarding.

What a boon these people have been! I recently adopted a shelter dog, and working her in with existing dogs has turned out to be more of a challenge than anticipated. Bringing her to the Barkeley has eased the whole situation immeasurably. And she has a great time here (you can watch your dog on the web cam to assure yourself of that).
