All of these places say they are committed to helping the cats and their owners of Kern County find good homes. Not one single place had room for a sweet rescued cat that I'm unable to keep. Offering money, donations cat, or food doesn't help. The response is the same everywhere. Just because the animal is socialized and neutered/spayed, doesn't mean I can keep another animal in my house.

I’ve had wonderful experiences here but it stinks that they always tell me no. I have tried taking kittens that I’ve rescued here and even tell them I’ll donate if they take them. I had a lady one time tell me it’s best to just leave the kitten where I found it. Seriously? I expected a better answer from someone working with animals.

This is the place I recommended to people....I found or she found me, a large dog I couldn't keep where I lived. I paid the $35. Fee turned her over to the S.P.C.A. Maybe her owners reclaimed her. Idk. This place gives the best chances for dogs and cats.

I'm sure that the directions to get there were quite accurate but they are currently closed open by appointment only if interested in adoption you must do it online now but other than that to be experience was good

I got my bestfriend here. You fill out an application, and then they call you to come in. Once you're there, they let you spend as much time as you want meeting the pet, really deciding if they are right for you. I did not feel rushed at all. They had spayed her, given her shots, and microchipped her. Adoption fee was 100, which is insanely reasonable considering all they had done for her. Thank you!!!

These animal shelters and adoption places all do a good service to the area. I admire their work and donate frequently to their cause. But they all had the same answer, "No", when I needed to place a sweet cat that I rescued. Just because the animal is socialized and spayed/neutered, doesn't mean I can keep another animal in my house. Offering another donation/huge bag of pet food doesn't help, either.

I just wanted to bring something to your attention, and see if it’s worth bringing to the light. Since California is considered open and allowed to be full occupancy inside business, i was taking my daughters down to adopt a pet at the spca on Gibson when i arrived it says you can’t enter without a appointment and i just don’t understand why they’re keeping there doors closed when everything is at full capacity and i started thinking how much they’re loosing out on people wanting to adopt/save a animal. Well i called there phone number they had posted outside and it takes you to a automated voice that tells you to pretty much file for adoption on a pet online and i just don’t think that’s the way to go bc i have younger daughters and i take them down there to view dog and do meet and greets with multiple of them to see how they’re with children. And then i decide on the best fit with my family. I just find it truly terrible bc all those dog/cats are probably missing out on great homes. SPCA OPEN YOUR DOORS

Very rude service over the phone. The organization as a whole works for a good cause, but staff members who don't enjoy their job or care to answer questions for the public need to stay home.

I brought a small dog to the SPCA. In parking lot 2 ladies had just adopted 2 small dogs. I asked them if they would like to adopt my small dog. They held it and fell in love with the dog and accepted the dog. Beautiful Karma.

Called them to pick up a lose duck in my neighborhood and they recommended that I call a kill shelter. They weren’t much help.

Giving 2 stars because of the amazing work that the SPCA does overall, but some of the staff at this location are very rude. We reached out to get suggestions as to where to get our newfound pup specialty health care in the area as suggested by the vet we took her to. Found the dog on the street and figured SPCA might have some leads as to whom I may contact next, but left SPCA feeling like I was the bad guy here for wanting to give her a home and get her healthy. Silly me... I thought the TV commercials were the worst part of the SPCA experience.

GREAT organization!! Adopt an animal today! Give an animal a place in your home, and in your family... and love it forever! The staff is VERY helpful and the place is clean and well run. Its centrally located and is a staple of Kern county's commitment to helping the animals who live here. This is a no kill shelter and they provide constant support throughout the adoption process. I've had my dog for 8 years now and any questions or concerns I have are always answered promptly and professionally. Please give a pet a forever home, straight from the SPCA! ????????????

Money hungry, dirty, disrespectful. The level of intelligence is also largely questionable.
