Came to look at kittens and cats we are missing our cat because we were in an accident in Bakersfield California and our cat was with us. The staff acted so strange asking us why we think our cat is there? didn't want us to even look at cats they were telling us the cat section was closed but yet on their website shows they have plenty of cats up for adoption they only showed us cats that had ringworm!!!! very strange, terrible place!

What a great organization, they are ALWAYS busy so be prepared to wait. They are doing a huge service to so many pets in the community and would love to get them placed in loving homes!

They wouldn't answer the phone I tried several times my dog run away that I got from there and they said to call them if you need them to help you with your dog see my dog has a chip in her and I couldn't get them to answer the phone to help me get her back I really don't care to much for this place thank you

The shelter has helpful staff and volunteers. It was orderly despite operating during a pandemic ‘shutdown.’ They spayed, vaccinated, microchipped, and provided starter food, coupons and a vet wellness check for my newest member of the family - amazing service for $20 holiday special. *Update* 1 year later - she is the most lovable, trainable, loyal 4 y/o rat terrier dog. She was timid and scared of the world when I adopted her and brought her home to my 2 cats. Now they are all besties, and we couldn’t be happier. Can’t wait for many more years with our Dixie girl.

We found our forever dog here. Couldn't be happier with the service they provide. You don't have to jump through hoops here like other shelters do to adopt. The facility is very well organized and clean. There are people always cleaning and caring for the animals. I would definitely come back to adopt again when needed.

I would come back and adopt another dog here, about 14 years ago I adopted my dog Marilyn Monroe and she is still alive to this day. She is a part of our family. I don't know what I would have done without her. People who think that they can't adopt an adult dog who's already grown up and can't trust them. They are wrong... I know dogs that are adopted are more grateful and I honestly believe that they love you even more because you save them. You gave them a home. They know it, trust me they know it. So before you think again of just buying a dog, try adopting a dog first. It'll make a difference in your world and theirs.

Spent 45 minutes there with my granddaughters while the lady inside let her pick kittens one at a time after she changed her gloves very special

I was in need of dog food. I had seen a post on OfferUp about free pet food so went not knowing exactly what to expect. I think my dogs must be chunky monkeys because the food got them through a week not 2. But I'm not complaining that's exactly what I needed. I was just in a tight financial situation. The staff members were friendly and non-judgmental. ???? ---I got my pit from here. He drove me crazy for a while. but he's my buddy now. He saved us from what could have been a bad situation a couple months back.

They were so helpful in regards to having My dog neutered customer service was excellent phone representative was very knowledgeable and friendly. She gave me all the answers before I had to ask the question.

This place is a wonderful organization dedicated to serving the needs of animals in our community. I recently adopted a wonderful pet after fostering her for several months. The Kern County Animal Shelter made sure the dog was vaccinated and checked regularly for distemper. They communicated with me and kept me up to date on what to expect and what to keep an eye out for. I highly recommend their services to anyone wishing to adopt a pet into their home. Their Wednesday clinic is also highly recommended for vaccines, microchips and evening adoptions. I have so many wonderful things to say about this place. The staff truly cares about their pets and their volunteers are wonderful at contributing their time to show the animals of our local community love and dedication. Thank you for all that you do.

Went there and they were closed on a Saturday because of staffing problems there was a notice on the door but they did not change their message on the machine and I had came all the way from Acton California

Worst service ever! They had no sense of direction. Waited for over an hour for someone to finally say that we need to be checked in on a list. I will never go back here. Staff didn’t seem to know what they were doing!

Murci's Mission of Spokane, WA owes the shelter superheroes at KCAS endless gratitude. 2021 has been one of the worst years for sheltering and rescue, but these guys aren't letting that slow them down or break their willingness to go the extra mile for animals in dire situations. Susan and Sandy in reception and shelter supervisor Lisa we see you and we thank you. Albus is safe because you cared and stuck your neck out for him and for us. ????

Want a dog or give up a dog? This is the place. As for cats, they're completely worthless. Go try other places, but definitely not here.
