Apple Valley Animal Shelter doesn’t even check the for microchips. My sister in laws dog got out and not even 5 hrs later they already had her up for adoption on their website claiming they “couldn’t find her microchip”. They do not care about your pets, nor do they care to find owners. All they saw was a dog that someone would have adopted immediately and could make money off of. At first they tried to tell her they didn’t have her, then another woman had to step in and say they did have her dog. The staff isn’t well educated on dog breeds.

Beware of getting an animal from this place! Definitely isolate any animal coming from this facility for a good ten days away from any other animals. After bringing home two puppies from this place they both had PARVO which ended up spreading to the other 4 dogs in the household. When I called to inform them I was told it could have been picked up from anywhere. So sad. I hope these puppies don't die from getting PARVO from this place.

I went to pick up a dog and the lady who I dealt with was mean and rude. I am planning to call and speak with the manager tomorrow.

My cat got lost in Victorville so I went here to look for her. The staff is very friendly. They took their time to show me around the facility. If you're looking for a lost pet or new pet this is a great place to start. I really liked it here was awesome.

A very nice, large, newer facility. Try not to go on Tuesdays as they are very busy. Went twice on that day to drop off to stray cats and waited 30 to 40 minutes each time.

Waited 2 hours for AC to pick up dogs. Donna was not nice on the phone when I called to confirm they’re coming. 10 minutes later someone else calls to say they will not pick them up & to let the dogs lose in the street since they’re going to close soon. SMH.

Came to drop off a dog that I found and the lady was super rude. I was asking questions about adopting the dog if he didn’t have a chip and she was so mean about it. I see I’m not the first person to post a bad review about the mean women at the front.

I can’t even begin to describe how incredibly rude the older lady at the desk is. Don’t take strays here. They will kill them.

Gave away our lost dog within 24 hours and when we showed up asking for him(we found his picture on the website) they said they couldn't get him back because "oh the kids like him already ????" ... They're supposed to keep the animals for several days so the owner can look for them, it even says so on their website and that's a common fact at any shelter everywhere. Wish I could give zero stars.

Customer service is questionable but overall okay. My first impression was the feeling when you're walking to the principal's office. The verbal prompts from the employees need some work in my opinion. They should greet you before redirecting you. Or before they start saying what you can't do instead of may I help you and answering questions and then advising of certain restrictions in place for health reasons.

Sadly, I had to have a dog put down that I had for many years. They humanely euthanized and offered cremation services, so now I have my dog back in a beautiful box with her name on it keep forever.

Wrote a review a while ago and realized it never uploaded! Anyway, a year and almost 3 months ago, we came to see a 8 week old ginger kitten. We fell in love with her immediately and she has brought so much joy to our family. Since coming home, she’s established herself as the alpha cat and protector of the house. They take great care of their animals in this shelter and I wholly recommend you coming here to meet your new best friend! Enjoy the compilation of our beautiful Kiki (originally Kelly) from 8 weeks to 1 year, 3 month!

I DO NOT RECCOMMEND SIGNING UP FOR VOLUNTEER WORK! Around 2 years ago I was assigned to work at this shelter as a volunteer and be paid money by my high school. I did not know at first that I didn't actually have a real job and only was a volunteer until I spoke with other volunteers. I worked 2 days a week for 2 hours a day (4 hours in total) and honestly they have to be the worst hours of my life. It was rare for me to ever work with other volunteers at the times that I worked. It was very saddening for me since one of my goals of working there was to be able to socialize and get to know some of the people. I only ever worked with one lady, and by god she has got to be the most petty and ignorant worker I have ever had to deal with. She got a huge grudge over me after I accidentally broke a plastic dollar store snowflake decoration while I was helping decorate. She would be extremely strict with me and get petty over every little thing I do. And what's worse is she does the same thing to other volunteers. This little boy I worked with was being treated the same way I was by this woman. This woman even took my one time excuse of telling her my back was hurting (due to my scoliosis which was scheduled to be treated soon but I was still pushing through and able to work) because she thought I was giving attitude due to me being slower and tried using this information get me fired the next day. I would ask her for my next task or if she needed any help. Majority of the time she would ignore me or give me a task but not tell me where the supplies are and just shoo me away. She even did this in front of my own mother. At least I was getting paid to be a volunteer. While the plenty of others who were doing this for free were just treated like a waste of time. These people- these CHILDREN- put their time into your hands and want to learn and work for you and yet you just decide to toss them aside and hope they quit. All we are is just 2 hours of extra help. But yet all they give us to do is water the dog dishes, which takes 2 hours if you're the only volunteer there. This shelter not only made me outraged but also depressed from the treatment I was getting. When I explained this to the manager (accompanied by my mom) she wouldn't even comment or talk about what I was saying. She would just stare and pretend to listen. Oh but when my MOM speaks she listens and responds IMMEDIATELY. I felt very silenced and isolated. They even complained about me just standing there and playing on my phone. I NEVER played on my phone. I would only use it to check the time. I'm only standing if I'm waiting for the lady to give me more tasks because I cannot find her and don't wanna go into forbidden areas. Even the volunteers that I would rarely work with (that also get better treatment than me) would notice her behavior towards me. I literally cried just trying to do my job. So I finally quit and took my final paycheck. It is NOT worth volunteering and NOT worth working there in general. For my first ever job experience I shouldn't have to be so traumatized and scared to even get another job all because of a lady who has no patience for children nor is qualified to even handle them and a manager that never listens to what these children have to say.
