On August 24th my family and I lost our beloved Xena, a 4 year old French Bulldog. We took her to the Yorba Regional VCA due to major health issues that went misdiagnosed as a GI infection on 6 different occasions when in reality she was dying of a large tumor between her intestines and her colon that had spread throughout her body. Our dog suffered and was in pain for 2 months while the VCA doctors neglected to try and figure out what was actually wrong with my Xena girl. We spent thousands of dollars on doctor visits, new foods, antibiotics, probiotics, and much more when what she really needed were x-rays and an ultrasound. Each visit my family and I watched that hospital rush dogs, cats, and other animals in and out the doors as fast as possible instead of ensuring each animal including ours was given the proper care. As we realized that this hospital was not properly caring for our dog we took her to another animal medical center where she was referred to BluePearl, where she was rushed into emergency surgery to remove the tumor and was given the proper care she deserved. We then took her home and cared for her until we knew she had to leave us because she was in too much pain. I can't help but think that if she had been given the proper care in the beginning, we might have had a little more time with Xena. PLEASE, if you took the time to read this post... make sure that your pet is receiving the best care possible, as these animals really are your best friend and it hurts tremendously losing them

Honestly a terrible experience. They are either incredibly overbooked or understaffed. Initial appointment was 45 minutes late, and when I asked how much longer it would be it took 10 minutes to even get an update. Once they finally took my pet it was another 1.5 hours for a brief assessment and an x-ray. VCA is usually a good hospital brand but this place is a nightmare. Unless its an actual emergency I would avoid this location.

Dr. Foresburg saw my French bulldog for an emergency consultation. I was so impressed with how much time she took to make sure my dog had the right medications and referrals before we left. She called The Eye Care for Animals on our behalf and insured the correct treatment plan for our dog even with a busy emergency clinic running. Her time and effort is beyond appreciated. Additional the team of Vet Techs were amazing and took time to answer all our questions! Thank you all again for all your help! It means so much to our family!

Only hospital in a 15 miles radius that would take my dog during an emergency, I am grateful for that. The IE seems to be understaffed. The vet definitely cared about my dog but I can second a lot of the comments about a seemingly understaffed hospital that leads to confusion, very little time having any questions answered, and mistakes that need to be corrected by diligent paw parents. This place is not affordable, $$, $76 for a consultation and $109 for emergency consultation, but it was the only hospital that would take my dog. The initial assessment was comprehensive. No one went over the post-op care I was just handed papers, a distinct contrast to the hospital he’s been going to for 9.9 years where they take the time to explain everything and answer all of your questions. It’s been a week since my dog’s initial surgery. My dog went in for his check up and is now being treated for possible necrosis with ointment and now he’s peeing blood after having his drainage removed. I do not feel comfortable with all the post-op complications to recommend this hospital at this time and hope my review will change but I want to provide honest feedback for other paw parents seeking medical help for their loved ones. Again lack of communication as to whether I should expect this after drainage removal. Both my dogs have had surgeries before with no complications so it’s concerning that he’s had swelling, possible necrosis, and now peeing blood. Update: the ointment did wonders, my dog is his jolly old self, going on 10 this December!

I began bringing my adopted 1 1/2 year old German Shepherd Dog to Dr. Steven Dunbar when he had his business at the shopping center in Yorba Linda. He was recommended by a very close friend of mine. I was complaining about how hard it was to find a good caring vet in this area. I had previously taken her to numerous vets in the area for her necessary shots and exams as a young dog but felt rushed and not a very caring atmosphere. I felt so relived having Dr. Dunbar as her vet. I felt I finally found a caring Veterinarian for my precious dog who had already been through so much in her short life. I was elated and confident with his training and caring ways for her. The staff were wonderful and caring as well. No stress going into the office for appointments they were scheduled with the appropriate time in between so never a long wait time. Then Dr. Dunbar moved into his new office Yorba Regional Animal Hospital. Every time I took my dog there I had paperwork shoved into my face and demanding that I fill it out before anyone would see her. I mean even if it was an emergency there was no way these girls at the desk were going to let you see anyone until that paperwork was filled out and your payment was verified. Wait time was usually long and I believe from overbooking. It was the most stressful office I have ever been to and unfortunately the closest for an emergency! Even though we had been coming there for a few years it was if we had never been there ever and they had a file on her! When he first moved there we made appointments specifically for him maybe 3 or 4 times but because he was always booked and was only available for certain days and times made it very difficult. So every time we came in we saw someone different because asking for that vet a year later, some were no longer there or the wait time was a week or more. Anyway, the feel of Dr. Dunbars practice was gone. It was cold and not a personal feeling at all. It’s like a machine nothing personal, rarely the same vet and if it was they never made you feel like you were anyone different than the one who had never been there before. Gone were those days of seeing a young boy or girl with a sick tortoise or lizard in the waiting room. Times had definitely changed and not for the good! Several years later I had to bring my dog in because she was elderly and was dying, I never wanted to bring her here but I had no other choice. It was the most heart wrenching choice and experience I have ever experienced and definitely the coldest due to the attending personnel. Papers shoved into my face as I was trying to explain that my beloved Shepherd was in the back of my SUV dying and I needed help to get her in there and put her down! But Oh No, VERIFIED PAYMENT FIRST, then help with my dog! Good luck for you that choose to have your precious pet seen here. I truly hope and pray it is a much better experience than ours!

I’ve been going to Yorba Regional since it opened and my pets have always been treated professionally and lovingly. I wouldn’t go anywhere else. Highly recommend.

I had an emergency with our 1 year old puppy. He was vomiting with a lot of blood. I called and the phone service said if it’s an emergency come right away. All of the local vet hospitals in my area referred me to the VCA YL location, as that is their regional hospital. I drove for 30 min in traffic. When I arrived they said sorry we can’t see you we are “at capacity”. It was 10:59am. To me it’s unbelievable. They had no suggestions as to where I should go etc. After leaving, I called to ask to speak with a supervisor. Of course no one was available and they haven’t called me back. How dare they have a huge “emergency hospital” sign displayed when they are clearly not set up for emergencies. Thank GOD I found care for my puppy elsewhere. I will never use or recommend VCA. Pathetic.

I was told my dog has a heart murmur. Following the vets instructions I scheduled lab work and imaging. There is complications with scheduling the imaging as it’s a third party. My issue came mostly from the lab work appointment. I received a call from the vet while waiting at my car describing what happened. The vet went over the basics and when I was asking questions about the echo imaging and issues related the lab work I was told “ok bye” about 5 times in a condescending tone in the middle of my asking questions. With the confusion of the other procedure and how to deal with vca and the third party testing company no one is able to make clear scheduling or what is next. My overall experience is that vca jams in appointments while they can get more pets in due to COVID restrictions of people waiting at their cars while they grind out work with less interaction with the pet owners. I have nothing against taking volume to make more money but when they can’t effectively execute the work they take on and the vet answers your questions like your annoying her that is the last straw. All that being said I do like the lady that came to my truck to bring in my dog. She was really sweet to my dog who don’t like going to the vet.

In 2016 they killed our 5 year old cat because they switched 3 different vets that could not get on the same page with his pneumonia care! We personally hold Dr. Olinger and Dr. Gould responsible and they had 0 compassion. Furthermore, billing tried to tell us on the way out right after watching him slip away in CPR that we had to pay the bill then and there with no options! I hope this place rots in hell!! Worst clinic ever!

if you love your pet, do not take your sick pet here. cruel, heartless staff. my dog was dying, and even though I was fully vaccinated and masked, they did not let me go inside to say goodbye to my baby. horrible policies and horrible staff.

I arrived at the hospital at 815 as a walk in. for a rabies vaccination. I realized I would have to wait but I waited over 2 hours for a 3 min shot. That was ridiculous.

They honestly don’t care’ as far as I am concerned it’s all about dollar signs’ they are rude’ and pretend to care! After 28 years you’d think you would get a call back when promised NOPE’ several calls’ several promises all BROKEN PROMISES!! Not only to me but my pet!!!!! I would not even take a dead fly to them!!!! Please’ please’ pay attention’ when they take your pet’ especially to what they do to your pet and make sure you know before they hand you a $600 dollar bill without discussion first’’ and a few weeks later your pet still is dealing with the same issue lack of sympathy here! It’s a shame what they have become’ and refuse to listen to the pet owner or CARE!!!

Unfortunately since boarding my elderly puppy here in luxury boarding (Visit Dates: From Friday, April 23, 2021 to Monday, April 26, 2021 Pick Up: Monday, April 26, 2021) where he is provided his own fairly large space as well as his own food from home, my puppy has become extremely sick. Immediately after pick up it was clear he hadn’t eaten all weekend and had uncontrollable vomiting and diarrhea. After one day home and still not eating he was taken to a more reliable vet where he was closely taken care of. However, still after two weeks his condition continues with the minimal eating/drinking and still uncontrollable bowel movements. Before coming to VCA my puppy was just a pretty good old pup. He would relax through out the day and got excited when his mom would come home. He was able to still go up and down the stairs no problem. And I was always happy that he was doing good for a 15 almost 16 year old dog. Since his last boarding his activity level has declined. Every day it seems worse. Please AVOID THIS PLACE if possible. Original:Good for boarding but don’t recommend having a “resort pampered pet bath.” My dog came back smelling and stained of urine.

I had a very exasperating morning when no vet facility in Coachella Valley would accept our sick cat, including the "emergency" hospital. We immediately got on the phone early on Sunday and found Yorba Regional. They assured us our Marco would be seen. They immediately took him in to assess and then he saw a veterinarian a short time later while we waited in the parking lot (COVID). The vet called us to go over our options and we decided he needed to spend the night. Dr. Olinger promised to call that evening (she did) and again the next morning (she did). He had improved so we made the trek back to pick him up that afternoon. He has definitely improved and is on the mend. The vet techs were awesome (he had 3 assigned to him). The communication was great and Dr. Olinger was responsive both by text and with her phone calls. We couldn't be happier and found it was well worth the 80+ mile drive to get the best care for our Marco. Thanks to Dr. Olinger and the Yorba Regional staff! Much appreciated!

I brought my Arthur here in the middle of the night for what appeared to be seizures. I was told I couldn’t come in with him, so I hesitantly handed him over to a girl. That was the last time I saw him alive. They told me they would call me on my cell to give me an update as I waited in my car. I was very upset because I couldn’t be with him. I waited for an hour when I got the call that he had a heart attack. They asked if I wanted them to save him, and of course I said yes. About 45 minutes later, no call , no nothing. I called them to see if Arthur had made it and they told me he was stable but not in good shape. Soon after they called and told me he had another heart attack. I was crying and in shock. By now I was standing at the entrance, wanting to see him as they told me euthanasia was what they advised. I was outside crying when a young man came out and literally told me in a rude voice, that they could see me on the camera. He was so mean and rude. He also told me to get back because I didn’t have a mask on. I asked if I could please be with Artie and hold him while they administered the meds for euthanasia. He said no. I was heartbroken. I don’t care about the Covid thing and whether I had a mask on or not. He was dying and this guy had no heart. I will never bring any pet to this place. I even asked if they could bring him outside for me to hold him. No again. But they did agree to put him on a gurney in the back outside for me and my family, who left work to say goodbye to him, after he was dead.

Exceptional- We are first time dog owners and were at a loss when our baby girl Serena became very ill. The staff was extremely caring and understanding. Thank you to the staff for their exceptional care of us and our little baby. She will be missed terribly but having VCA Yorba Regional Animal Hospital was a blessing.

I brought my Pomeranians to Yorba Regional Animal Hospital for over 17 years each. All of the vets here were wonderful. It was always a bit pricey, but there was always great care here. They helped me when both of my dogs had kidney disease in their latter years. They taught me how to inject my youngest Pomeranian when she was diagnosed with advance signs of kidney disease as it saved me a lot of money. My Pomeranian had to be injected 3 times per week for the last year of her life. I also loved how they sold me flavored thyroid medicine. They had flavors like cotton candy, caramel apple, and so on. It made it so much easier to give to my baby girl. All-in-all, they were the best! I'm currently in the process of buying another Pomeranian after 11 years of not having any and I plan to return to Yorba Regional Animal Hospital.

I had a stressful day today, my bunny was dying, I kept calling places to help me out with my emergency but each one just seemed like they wanted to hang up on me right away and didn’t care for my situation, I kept going in circles with the referrals given, and places just kept saying “we don’t do exotics” I was about to give up and cry, I literally got rejected by a whole list given by my original vet that was useless! But I called this place and a nice man spoke with a calm voice, seemed to care about my situation and mentioned a referral that actually helped and had an exotic vet. If it weren’t for him my bunny would be in so much pain and dying slowly. She’s at a clinic now, don’t know if she’ll make it but I’m so happy someone helped me in a situation where I felt helpless, and genuinely cared and listened to my situation.

Dr. Weiss is fantastic. He is so professional and called us a few times a day with updates while our cat was hospitalized. He took the time to really try and decide what was best for her and weighed all of the options instead of jumping into a treatment. He is a wonderful vet and I would give him 5/5 stars alone. The overnight receptionist we spoke with is the reason for 4/5 stars. She was quite rude and really could use an empathy class. The day time vet techs and front desk were amazing though.

Every time I call the reproduction department I ALWAYS get their voicemail with the expectation that I will NOT get a call back the same or the next day. So far, that has been the case almost every time. I do not recommend using their reproduction services.

My 9 week old puppy had parvo. I called the vet in advance letting them know I needed specific services fluid and medicine to stop him from vomiting and that I only had x amount of money for treatment. I get there they take my dog and then call me about testing which I explained he already had done and I had an invoice. They wanted the actual test results which was impossible to obtain from the vet who closed early because it was Christmas Eve. They then come back with an invoice that was between 3-4K and I explained to them that I knew what services I needed and that I had a budget as previously explained, they then presented another invoice between 1-2k again for services I was not asking for. They then ended up doing what I asked for 210.00. I got through parvo by the 6th day and on day 7 I called and asked how much would it cost for a Parvo retake test and was told I don't know. Your a vet and parvo is a very common disease, how do you not know your own prices and why cant you find someone who does know? I am going to another vet as many other posters mentioned this vet is VERY money driven.

This Animal Hospital is horrible besides being excessively expensive. Their prime concern is $$$ and not a pets care. My dog passed away there which may have been prevented if the hospital didn't delay his care

I’m currently in parking lot waiting to pick up my dog from boarding. We have been coming here for years and have a number of pets. Friday for drop off we waiting on hold for over 45 minutes. Today I’ve been sitting in my car for 50 minutes on hold. Twice I’ve been put thru only have the person hang up on me. The last time I asked to not be put on hold again only to be told I’m back in the queue. I really thought I had found a good vet. Too bad
