This veterinarians office is just worried about money. I took my canine there on December 30th for a heart worm test. Once I received the results they continued to show me a pricing sheet for different heart worm preventatives. Which were outrageous in pricing. I then asked for a written prescription stating it was much cheaper to get the prescription filled at Sam’s club pharmacy for a year supply. They then stated that I needed to pay a fee in order to get ma written prescription. I paid the fee and went on with my day. I later went to get the prescription filled at the pharmacy. To learn that the prescription is on back order from the manufacturer. They refuse to give me a new prescription for a new heart worm preventative without another heart worm test run on my 7 month old puppy. This is absolutely absurd and unheard of. All this place wants is your money to pay for their new building. Take your business elsewhere. Also, the staff are rude. Why would you want to instill more pain on a puppy who just had a test?

They want people to be responsible pet owners then charge outrageous prices so that you can't afford to take your pets. it is evil and sad. It cost me $213 for a broken toenail on a dog. They are just screwing over the people in their own community.

They will do experimental surgery on your animal without permission then send him home to bleed out internally and bill you 3000$ dollars never ever take or return your calls

The visit was fine but they gave my dog an incorrect vaccine that I did not ask them to give. When I inquired about it, they were dishonest about what happened and the vet (Kathryn Bell) refused to see me to discuss what happened. They sent out an office manager that was rude and dismissive. I had been here previously and had a great experience with the other Dr Bell, but after this incident, I will be going elsewhere and suggest others do the same.

Called for an urgent care appointment due to my dog being sick. Throughly explained that he wasn’t eating and drinking with being lethargic. Told they close at 5pm, call back the next day then hung up by a rude receptionist. Won’t be coming back after not caring for my dog being sick

Took my service dog in for his rabies shot that he gets yearly. Now normally we have no issue's however this time we had several isses. The first one being they wouldnt Listen About letting me Restrain my animal when giving him his injection.Instead they thought it was appropriate to put my service animal into a head lock And poke him not once but four times. Now he has a knot that is causing him pain to the point he is snapping at anyone or anything that touches it. This is not like him ever. When i called to talk to them about the problem they want me to come back in and pay another office call for there mistake. Now where is that right in any part of the world. I can say that i will no longer use them for my vet needs for any of my animals especially for my service dog that is used for mobility. FYI i cant use him for mobility if he is in pain to the point of snapping. Thanks for not only making it painful for my service dog but impossible for me to safely be able to get around till he is better.

I paid the 12$ fee to be able to order my dog thats on hospice medication online and hillcrest refuses to verify or fax papers to be able to order her medicine but blaming the online veterinarian site so because of that my dog which again is on hospice hasnt had her pain medication in 3 weeks.. it just shows they care more about the money than the pets they treat!!!

My dog had a seizure last week and I brought her in right after that. I got there at 4:50 and they closed at 5. When I got there the receptionist said they can’t do anything. So I went to hicks instead and they were closed and still took care of me.

Tou-che'...YOU cleaned house and fired all your 'boarding' staff after multiple debaucheries with my pups; and many others. We all know that's TRUE, and so do YOU!!! People know the truth about you folks...it's a small town, not like KC. Are you even reading and/or acknowledging ALL these negative reviews that substantially support any and all verbal allegations I have against you folks...which again, you have neither acknowledged nor apologized for, ever!!! BTW, you can call me Jon...just don't call me late for dinner, Doc. I'm not a real doctor, so I guess we have something in common, eh???

I took my dashhound in for a back injury and to get his shots for his tags. When I looked at my bill for the services provided on that date. I was charged $20.00 for a city tag because he is classified as a unaltered dog. I called and questioned this and was informed that they didn't know that he was already fixed. How is it possible that you can't tell that my dog hadn't already been fixed. Then tell me that you will have to talk to your manager to see if you can correct my bill.

Dr. Rachel Chall diagnosed our six month old puppy with elbow dysplasia and HOD. Although that wasn't the diagnosis we wanted to hear Dr. Chall was very knowledgeable, easy to understand and VERY patient with all of our questions. She even called us back on a Saturday to answer more questions. She didn't rush us and had very well thought out answers and solutions. Thank you Dr. Chall! You made a tough situation easier to manage. Hillcrest Animal Hospital and the Poplar Bluff area are lucky to have such a great Veterinarian.

I wish I could give them zero stars! My husband and I were traveling through town with a litter of pups, and one of them was lethargic and acting very strangely. I called this clinic and explained the situation and told them I thought the puppy was actively dying. The person on the phone told me they were booked, and even if they could fit me in, I would have to wait 3 hours. I explained that I didn't think the puppy had 10 minutes left, much less 3 hours. The person on the phone told me, again, how busy they were. I asked her if I was just supposed to let the puppy die, and her response was that they were booked. I was dumbfounded that a veterinary clinic would not see an emergency such as what we had. Oh well, we ended up going to Animal Care Center and received kind, compassionate care, and the puppy is doing great!

Had to edit this review as I think I went a bit over the top and was unfair, yesterday I'm new in town and it's this place is as weird as all heck or maybe it's just that time of the month. There were a few things that I was a bit annoyed by. However, they really did great with my dog, Scylla and that's all that matters. It wasn't over priced either. I will be coming back with my entire mangy menagerie.

My dogs got into something they wasn’t supposed to, and we didn’t have the money to cover it entirely, and told them we could go to the bank and be back or we could pay them Friday. They belittled my wife, laughed at her and pretty much spit in her face. Prices also jumped up drastically since last year. Definitely finding another vet after them belittling my wife.

Very nice place. Love Dr. Mason. He does great with our biggest dog and he explains what needs to be done very well. Highly recommend

So very disappointed! Had our rescue cats boarded & 1 that hadn't been fixed, fixed...so not happy! Pd extra for Lazer surgery so this precious rescue kitty could have ean easier recovery! Her belly looks worse than regularfixingwe have had on our others....We knew we shouldn't have trusted this vet again! Scammers & lots of lazy workers here! Got our kitties back filthy & loss of a couple pounds! They were so stressed they were shedding beyond all reason! Got charged a deposit twice just to be let down even more so! Go some place else ppl!

I had an appointment for 9:00 a.m. for my dog’s heart worm preventative shot. After checking in, there was a short wait before we were seen. We were in and out within 15 minutes. Excellent service.

Takes forever for anyone to answer the phones. Then nobody knows anything there and they have to go ask someone else.

I have been very pleased with the care that my two young dogs and cat have received at Hillcrest Animal Hospital. My adopted puppy and kitten were neutered and spade there last fall, and neither paid much attention to their incisions. I appreciated that my vet called me after each procedure to make certain that all was going well. Hillcrest keeps me notified regularly of any vaccinations or other care that my three pets need. Appointments have gone very well with very little waiting time. The staff are courteous and friendly. I definitely recommend Hillcrest Animal Hospital to anyone who wants quality and affordable care for their pet(s).

Took my perfectly fine cat to simply be spayed and was informed she had went “brain dead” and did not make it. I understand things can go wrong but I was made to feel that this was all my fault even though she wasn’t in my care. I have heard horrible things about this hospital but have tried to give them the benefit of the doubt. After my own personal experience and the way they handled the situation, I will never allow my animals to go back to this hospital.

I brought my 16 week old husky to this vet and they provided him with his first round of parvo and his rabies shot He could not walk for 3 days afterwards. I called the vet and explained my concern. They were going to charge me to look at my dog the day after giving him his shots and was going to charge me for a vet visit when they hurt my dog. I will never take him back there again. If you want quality service for your animal and you want them to be treated like family do not take your animal here. they only care about money. Not the well being of your animal Since I have taken my dog to hicks and they have treated him like family and made sure everytime he has had his shots that he has been ok afterwards. You will not get the same kind of care at Hillcrest They just want your money

The staff was very rude and pushy. They brushed it off as busy but when I went in the room with my sick puppy the vet said they hadn’t been rushed. The Vet was nice, but seemed side tracked and was very inattentive. Over all I would not go back, and if you’re planning on going definitely do not go.

Love them, their staff are friendly and helpful, they will do anything in their power to help your babies. Their vets and staff truly care about every animal that gets brought in there. Very reasonably priced also.

My family and myself have used this vet for over 30 years. Due to ownership change, the service has drastically changed. All docs will take lunch, together, at the same time for an hour and a half leaving no doc at the vet. Thus, creating a bottleneck for service. While I understand the docs must eat just as any human, staggering a lunch hour might be a better idea for flow of business opposed to clients being turned away and then having to wait for over 30 minutes just to be checked in once they return after lunch. This has happened to me on multiple occasions. While there might be underlying facts that I am unaware of, sometimes a persons lunch hour is the only time they have to run errands. The most recent experience I was faced with was related to this type of scenario. I arrived to have a male GSD checked out for a slightly limp he has had for a couple of weeks, nothing life threatening. I was informed that a tech was not qualified to look at the dog and a doc must. However, all docs were gone to lunch. Nevertheless, I politely said okay as I was asked to return at 1245 to beat the 1pm rush for when the doctors arrived back. I followed the instructions that were given to me by the front desk and upon my return, I was asked if I had an appointment. I explained the earlier morning scenario and how I was told to come back at 1245. I was then told that they are not taking any walk ins and I must come back on another day. At this point, given I have experienced this on multiple occasions, decided to pull my dogs records and I have now switched vets, which is unfortunate after the years we have been with this company. Also, the new vet had stated they had four other new clients that switched from Hillcrest within the last two days. Also, I have had two minor surgeries with my dogs at this dog with the new owners care. One was to have a small infected hair removed from ones skin, the other was to neutered. Both dogs now pant at a relatively fast rate at times post surgery. I had the vet look at my female (the first surgery) due to this issue. I was prescribed some pills and said if it hasn’t been corrected within 3-5 days then to bring her back immediately. Five days went by, I called to confirm to bring her back. I was told to continue giving her the meds and watch her for another week. This condition, while does not happen as frequently... as in every night for hours but still multiple days a week for various times... still occurs. I have not sought further treatment/cure from this vet due to how it was felt “pushed off” when I inquired regarding how I needed to bring her back “immediately” if it wasn’t fixed after 5 days.

Absolutely love this place! They are very professional and caring. We've had multiple procedures done here and haven't had one problem. If I take one of my girls in for something without the rest they ask about the others by name. No matter how late I've called, they have always been incredibly polite. ????

HillCrest is always very professional and quick to get you in. Anytime I’ve had to take my puppy in we see the vet techs and the vet. Super nice staff and very helpful.

This vet used to be amazing but something changed for the worse a few years back. I took my new puppy in to get his shots which was 3 rounds and each time the vet looked him over and said everything was fine as the breeder I got him froms vet certified as well. Fast forward 7 months to when I got him fixed and the bill was way more than quoted when asked why they said one of his testicles hadn't dropped after specifically telling me 3 different times prior they had by 2 different vets there. Also depending on who you speak with their policy has now changed so heartwormer cannot be sold without a heartworm test.

Adopted a female cat from animal control and was told spay is mandatory. Okay. Fast forward to today when I picked up my cat from her spay and realized I was charged 30$ for a feline abortion 2nd trimester. I was never contacted nor informed about possible pregnancy. I do not support abortion of any species but was forced to pay for one. This is legal theft and murder. I can not believe how cruel this clinic is. Do not use Hillcrest. They murder innocent animals.
