It’s hard not to appreciate people who care for our cats. The good intentions were certainly there, in this case. I'm revising to reflect our Christmas miracle: After four nights there, Toby came home with his inflammatory bowel disease mysteriously healed! He has not vomited in the 12 days since coming home, without any medication!!! Obviously, we'd already tried everything you can think of and were preparing to schedule an endoscopy with biopsy, in a desperate attempt to diagnose and heal him. Our cats returned home more terrified than usual after boarding, probably because it was a new place to them. I've heard of the immune system re-prioritizing and initiating healing during sustained trauma. Or maybe it was that Toby sensed a special loving kindness there which precipitated spontaneous healing. Perhaps one or more people there are especially sensitive (?). They allowed me to go back with them, which was nice; and I recommend this, so you can see the accommodations. There was a strong odor because of the small litter boxes. Also, as soon as we left the reception room, there was a powerful atmosphere of doggie body odor. Possibly they have, or will, upgrade their ventilation. There are only four cat "rooms" (small kennels with tiny litter boxes). We had booked Toby because, for the past 12 months, he needed daily medicine to prevent vomiting. Misty, his mom, was booked to comfort Toby. We had to reserve two adjoining kennels, instead of one (presumably because the kennels are small), but both kennels were not actually available on check in. Their plan had been to give them free run of the cat room, euphemistically termed unit "#5." I explained that--like cats in general--ours, though big kitties, would much prefer to huddle together in the bed I'd brought, in one small kennel; so that's what they provided. They were not sure that the second kennel would become available the first day, but one did and, on request, they texted to let me know. But the booking was deceptive, as they'd planned to use the open room as a holding area--not suitable for cats. Medication administration and clinical observation are not as you'd find with vet boarding. Keep in mind that this is boarding and dog grooming, artfully called a "resort." They are not trained to give meds in difficult situations. Toby tends to be fearful and, though his claws were trimmed, he hissed and scratched. He's a big guy, and the caretakers were too frightened to continue his medicine. I asked that they put his pills in the wet food I'd provided, in the hope he'd eat it. They didn't try that---no explanation why not. They also misread (or possibly didn't read) the simple typed instructions I'd left for them, so they made a med error which was not serious in this case: gave two pills the first day, instead of one. They couldn't say for sure whether or not Toby had vomited while there. (We think he probably did NOT, because he somehow came home healed.) With vet boarding, they'll be honest about space availability, get any meds right, and tell you precisely what happened with your pet healthwise. This resort is very popular and can care for a large number of dogs at once. You might like them if you have a dog with no special medical needs. Not all vets board, but ours does. She charges $20 per night, including holidays, with the price for two cats together in a kennel equal to the price for one. At this resort, we paid $25 per night for each cat, their holiday rate: $200, as opposed to $80, for lower levels of both comfort and medical care. At least the resort immediately waived the fee for picking up in the afternoon---without us ragging or complaining. They did try in ways to be considerate and responsive. We appreciate the efforts that they made, even though their service is not for our needs. Tasha and John were both very nice when I spoke to them. I didn't interact with the others. Jay, the director, made a thoughtful response to my first review. That's always an excellent indication for any business.

They were so nice & made my Lucie's 1st time boarding a positive experience! I love the fact that you can get 24hr camera access for your pet & see what they're up to. I recommend if you're ever taking a long trip out of town, it was perfect.

I love Mount Pleasant Pet Resort. My chihuahua has anxiety around strangers and has had issues with other groomers before. He must love this place because he's always excited to go and he's SO relaxed on the car ride home. I know he is being very well taken care of when he's there and they always do a great job! (For reference, I have a small, short-haired chihuahua. He goes for a bath and nail trimming about once a month.)

It’s hard to review places like this because you are not in the back when they are grooming your pet. But I would highly recommend doing your research before sending you pet there. We have a long haired pet And asked for one inch to be taken off and my dog has come back with all BUT ONE INCH left. His hair is uneven in multiple spots. I can see the clipper marks on his body. His head it looks like they tried to cut it and gave up. So he’s left with a spot that’s shorter then the rest. The people were very nice and very clean facility but I am not happy with my boys haircut.

My sweet boy loves going to the groomers. I love that you can drop off at 8am and pick up by 5ish. Very convenient.

Carly had a blast! Loved seeing pics from doggie daycare while I was on vacation. Update- she contracted bordatella at Mt. Pleasant Pet Resort, sadly. She had the bordatella vaccine 3 weeks b4 her stay. It is not 100% effective...

Your facility required that I had my dog vaccinated for kennel cough before i brought her in. Got that done 3 days in advanced so her vaccine more than likely wasn't in full effect yet. My dog now has been hacking for 3 days after being there and itching nonstop like she has fleas, she has never been groomed before this and she doesn't leave our yard (which has been treated for fleas). Will not be taking my dog here ever again.

I was very excited to pickup my girl after the grooming the very first time in the town. Speaking highly of them but I got very disappointed picked her up in a rush noticed later on the bad cut and came back. The face ears and nose weren't trimmed and a little bit of her ear was cut off luckily Ms Janice fixed her. I will ask for her from now on.

My groomer called me after my hubs dropped off my little precious to ensure right cut! Reassured that our tiny was calm and doing ok. Reminded with all this drop off and virus stuff that they would text when she is done. Yolanda is the best.

I do love this place. Our dogs have always been well cared for. But unfortunately with 2 dogs being boarded with daycare is just too expensive. Many other pet resorts of the same quality are including daycare in their boarding or at a very reduced fee. Due to that, we wont be able to consider you as a week long stay any longer. Sad about that as our oldest has been coming their since a puppy. .

I took my dog to get groomed here last week. I noticed that he had a pretty bad cut on his belly when we got home. Nobody bothered to mention that this had happened. We’ve taken him and 2 other dogs here many times before and never had this problem so it’s pretty disappointing.

I came in excited to get my dog’s hair cut because of the great reviews. Only good point: the cut is nice. Unfortunately, my dog came back with fleas. She didn’t have fleas when I dropped her off and she’s never had fleas before. No one mentioned it when I came to pick her up. It’s taken me a couple of days to sort through this. Her haircut ended up costing me a lot more because of having to gas my house and car. I’m very disappointed in the quality of the environment and how they fail to take care of the conditions of the dogs that come in. When I called, out of courtesy to let them know, I hopefully expected to hear something like “bring her come back and get flea bath” or offer some sort compensation. I didn’t hear anything expect an half hearted apology and explanation about how it wasn’t their fault, it must’ve been a dog that had come in that day. Won’t be going back. 7/12/2020 EDIT: the owner was very professional and apologized for the unfortunate events that happened. I received a full refund for my groom and happy to see how it went. I changed my one star review to three, only taking off for the bad experience.

I live in Sulphur Springs and tried 3 places in SS to get my dogs groomed and all 3 were at least 3 weeks wait. I called Mt. Pleasant Pet Resort and got in within the week. I had never been to this groomer before. I WILL NEVER GO ANYWHERE ELSE AGAIN. THEY ARE ABSOLUTELY TOP-NOTCH AND WONDERFUL!! I have three mastiffs. They looked beautiful when I arrived, they smelled wonderful and the every staff member I talked to on the phone or at the facility was extremely nice. Thank you for being a wonderful local business. I can't rave enough about the outstanding serving.

I job shadowed here when I was in the 8th grade and ever since then I haven't stopped dreaming about working there. The building was so clean and the animals were well taken care of and I even got to experience some of the things that they do to make sure their clients go home happy and prepared for the next day to come.

Seems to be a good clean boarding facility and the staff were all very nice. However, I have 2 complaints. First after going there to tour the facility, I made a reservation for my 3 dogs to be boarded on a weekend 3 weeks ahead. I gave all information and was assured they would expect to see them on that particular weekend. When we arrived on that day...no one knew anything and there was no record of my reservation. Also I was not informed of a late fee for pickup after 2pm. When I inquired about this I was told that it was in the website. I should not have to refer to website for this pertinent information. I will however, use this facility again as it is top notch. The staff just need to be more efficient on records and information.

We've been clients of MPPR for a few years now and have always appreciated how they have taken great care of our pets. The place is clean, and the staff are friendly. However, one of the best attributes of this facility wasn't apparent until our most recent boarding experience. One of our dogs had a medical issue while at the pet resort (a pre-existing condition unknown to us, and of no fault of MPPR). The staff immediately notified the owner of the boarding facility, who notified the vet that is attached to the pet resort building. We then received a call from the vet who informed us of what happened and they had already put him on medication and were taking great care of him. They even moved him into a larger room that would be less stressful for him and frequently checked on him. If this had happened at another boarding facility, we might have had to cancel our vacation to come home and arrange for his care. This is a rare benefit that should provide a great comfort to those that need to leave their pets in the care of others on occasion.

I had never boarded my dog before but after meeting the staff I was confident he would be in good hands. He stayed for a week and was in great shape when I picked him up. I'm sure will trust my dog with the Resort again.
