My dog was attacked by two other dogs. She had several bites, was limping, and was in a lot of pain. When I took her to this clinic, the receptionist told me to wait outside and the doctor would call me after she examined her. The doctor called me and told me that my dog had some wounds that needed treatment, but ultimately she would be fine. After waiting for more than an hour, the vet staff told me they were discharging her. I waited in my car again and finally insisted on seeing my dog and talking to the doctor. My dog was listless and nearly unresponsive. When I questioned the doctor, she said my dog was sedated. In addition, her temperature was too low and her blood pressure was almost nonexistent. When I asked what they were doing for her blood pressure, I was told that they had given her fluids. Then I was told, “We can’t give her blood pressure medicine unless she’s in the hospital.” I was confused because I thought I WAS at an emergency animal hospital!! Apparently, my dog had crushing internal injuries. I took her there at 11:30 am and wasn’t told this until 10:30 pm that night when the Dr was trying to resuscitate her. I told them to stop because she wasn’t responding. My sweet dog died and she was only 2 years old. This was a traumatic experience. The vet staff was uncaring and unprofessional and I hope no one else has to endure this. -Gwen Wren

AVOID! Jaxie S. - Thank you so much for representing your facility in the worst possible way. I would highly recommend reaching out to another facility!

This place saved my dog’s life. After checking her into the ER on Christmas Eve, we truly didn’t know if she would pull through. The staff was spread thin on the holiday and dealing with up to an 8 hour wait time but they still provided the best care and put up with me calling every 5 hours for updates for the next two days. Calvin was so kind and Hollie is an absolute godsend who helped my pup through her toughest time with genuine love and care. I never leave reviews but I think it’s important people know that there is somewhere they can trust to treat their pets like their own. Thank you, MVS And special thanks to Hollie!

I brought my dog here at 9pm and he wasn’t even seen til 12:00am. We didn’t end up being discharged til 1am. He had serious symptoms of spinal injury. No one came to check on him once we checked in, no asked about him. I know we were lied to about them saying they called us to ask more questions, but they did not. I would not bring any of my pets here ever again. If I had an enemy I’d bring him here to die in a parking lot for lack of treatment.

Here’s why I will never entrust MVS with my dogs care ever again, and why you shouldn’t either. Our dog was showing some very concerning symptoms. We called ahead and filled out paperwork. After waiting close to three hours in the parking lot, passing the time by watching the receptionist file her nails and eat her yogurt (no, I’m not kidding), I decided to call and see what the hold up was. They said a more serious case had come in that took precedence. Mind you, we went three hours with no word or communication of this or had witnessed any dog in critical condition. I asked how she knew our dog wasn’t in serious condition if nobody has checked or assessed, to which she responded with sass and attitude talking over me while I was expressing my concern for their negligence. I mentioned the many reviews regarding negligence they had experienced that I had been reading while I waited. She ignored me and said it was “out of her control” and they’re “just receptionists.” I suggested she not file her nails or eat her yogurt where costumers can see her while they’re waiting for communication on when their suffering pet will be even acknowledged. If you want your pet to die a slow, drawn out death without help from anyone but MVS negligence, this is the place for you. If they survive until the assessment, I’d highly advise getting a second opinion. The amount of reviews stating these things are there for a reason. This place is an absolute joke. Go somewhere that takes you, your pet, and their own job seriously.

Arrived at 6 pm per our “appointment”. Waited for 2 hours until they called us and took our dog back. We were asked to wait outside and they would call us. 6 hours later and after us calling them several times, they finally told us “nothing” is wrong, that she is walking and acting fine. Well, our dog can barely stand up, staggers, and almost falls over trying to move. She can’t lie down because of discomfort. But, for 6 hours in a pen with them, she was “fine”. Never waste your time or money here. Not sure what they called themselves doing

I'm not going to go into all the details of why my dog suffered so much at their hand before he died but if anyone reads this please consider going elsewhere. I was told they were the best vets in the Memphis and surrounding area and the only ones who could do the surgery he needed so I took him here. One of the biggest mistakes of my life. I am haunted by this place and hope no one else has to go through what I did. Since speaking out about them I've come to find many others who have also had similar experiences with MVS. It shocks me that they are able to continue to stay in operation after what I've been told. I wish I had taken legal action but was so upset over loosing my dog I didn't want anything else to do with them at the time.

One star is too generous. Spent close to 8 hours there and was told my pet was not in need of any treatment. The staff did not communicate with me during the wait period and you have to wait in your car. Got home and my pet is in intense pain and will be going to another vet as soon as they open.

Our dog was attacked by another dog and her eyeball was hanging out of the socket and lots of bleeding. We called ahead of time to see if they could help us as we lived 30 minutes away. We were told yes. When we arrived then they made us wait outside. It only took me 5 minutes to fill out the required paperwork that they could have taken over the phone on the way there. I tried to call 30 times from outside to let them know that it was ready. I finally got some one after 15 minutes and they said that they would come get the paperwork. 45 minutes later they came got the paperwork but would need time to enter it into the computer. The parking lot only had 1 vehicle in it so they were not busy, they were not in a hurry, this place is supposed to have been an emergency facility, and the staff was not very helpful or caring. Luckily the Cordova station animal hospital was just a mile down the road, took our dog right in and had her fixed up quickly. I will never use or even try to use memphis vet specialists again. The most awful experience of my life.

Called because my dog hurt her leg and was in pain and they refused to see my dog. So my dog has to stay in pain for 2 hours waiting on the vet to open at 8am. 24 hour emergency vet is not what it really means. They obviously don't care.

It was one of the worst experiences I have ever had! The staff was rude and condescending. I took my cat in because he could not walk and was having seizures and in severe pain.. The doctor did not do any labs or diagnostic testing on my cat. I requested the doctor call me and I never received a return call. Basically said he had a fever but did not know why. Said he was walking fine and he wasn't. Stayed there for 6 hours waiting in my car while others came and went Gave him a antibiotic shot and meds to take home. I took him to my regular vet 3 days later and he had to be put down. He had cardiomyopathy, had thrown a blood and that is why his back legs were still paralyzed and he was not walking.

The nurses and doctors were amazing with my fur baby. He was attacked by another dog and had some lacerations to his face. It wasn't a true emergency but my partner and I thought it'd be safe to get him checked out. My only complaint is the lady in the pink scrubs up front. She had a bad attitude. I simply asked a question about a payment and she got an attitude. Then we had a question about the vets orders and she got an attitude about that too, other than that our experience was good.

We appreciate everything you did for our Roxypooh (Carr). I knew she was in good hands the minute I met Dr Poppel. Such a kind, warm soul who will be forever in our hearts for his love for our puppy. We thank you from the bottom of our hearts for finding answers we needed. Thank you for the lovely card you sent to us. You're all quite wonderful. Suzanne & Perry Carr

Spent 7 hours here Sunday evening for their results to determine my boy only had an upset stomach. Charged us $800. We took him to a different vet today for a second opinion. It is not an upset stomach or “GI tract” issues. My boy is internally bleeding. My boy spent 7 hours with these vets, where they supposedly did X-rays (where they charge a $70 “X-ray interpretation” fee), ultrasounds, everything and yet they missed internal bleeding. Edit: to add, the vet we went to for a second opinion said they could not understand why they put my boy on the medications they gave him. Please be aware.

So, I brought my darling Safari the Memphis Veterinary Specialists after my family tragically realized our cat (almost full term pregnant) had become extremely lethargic during intense labor. My husband raced her to the closest 24H ER. They were short on staff I guess, he ended up waiting outside for about 4 hours with no update which is understandable considering it was soo late at night. I took off work early to race to my girl once I found out we had no idea what was going on. Only to realize how much it was to even get her seen (once again, understandable considering its an emergency vet) However, still no actual progress on my girl. I'm aware pet care is not cheap by any means, but lets be honest - no one is prepared to throw $1800-$2000+ for a C-Section/Spay in such a notice. The pricing was outrageous, especially in a pandemic. We ended up being left with no choice but to leave. Dr.Fowler did everything she could to work with us considering the situation, but the price was still between $900+, not including the original $500 just to have her seen by professionals. My dearest thank you to Dr. Fowler for trying her hardest & seeing how much we love our Safari & genuinely wanted help. Before leaving I asked if i could call incase Safari had an issues before I found another place to save my bestfriend.... This ABSOLUTE ANGEL ON EARTH, named Hollie, assured me she would be here for my family in our time of need & answer any questions we may have.. Even just over the phone/helping me keep my girl safe since we had no other choice but to take her home. Now, this girl went above & beyond. I mean, I'm pretty over protective when it comes to my fur babies & I was 100% comfortable calling her with ANY questions. She always answered on the First ring, calmed me down & reassured me when my Safari ended up birthing stillborn angels, told me what was normal/what I need to look for. As many others have felt when you find out one of your pets is expecting, the excitement & support for new life coming to your family, preparing to welcome all of them with open, loving arms, being proud of the mother for being able to give us such a blessing - to end in such tragedy is heartbreaking.... Especially when it puts the mother herself in harms ways without the means to have her taken care of.. Thanks to HOLLIE, I was able to keep my bestfriend stable & even happy during this time of great loss until I was able to have her in surgery this AM.. Knowing that there genuinely is good people in the world who actually care & are amazing at what they do is just.. relieving. Hollie, you gave my family & I HOPE when we needed it the most. My bestfriend of 8+ years wouldn't be here thanks to you... I will forever be in debt. WE LOVE YOU!!!! Couldnt have done it without you. At the end of the day, it's not about money - it's about putting our fur babies in the right hands in times of need. I highly recommend this place solely for the heart of who is working in this establishment. Thank you.. Safari is fresh out of surgery & doing great.

My ver referred me to this buisness because my tiny 4lb baby had blood coming from both ends. Not blood in her vomit, not blood in her stool, it was blood. I called ahead, they said they would be ready for her. No instuctions were givin by phone. After arriving they had me sit in the parking lot for an hour and a half and never once even laid hands on my pup. After an hour of waiting they then start telling me they were afraid it is Parvo and she would have to wait to enter. Never even offered to test her ahead of entry. Lost my cool on the ladies there. One lady assured me they were taking care of more critical pets But that was said without ever seeing my dog.. how can you triage a patient without examining first? I took my pup to someone who would treat her like a patient not an expendable creature. Turns out my baby has severe internal bleeding from a toxin. The new vet was appaled that we were made to wait when her tiny life was just fading in my arms in my car. Im am never going to give this place business. They treated me like we had no matter in their world. I was/ am so ????

We arrived at 11:30 with a pet with a dislocated paw. We had originally taken her to our vet and they recommended this outfit. After arriving we didn’t hear anything till 2:30 and were told they relocated the joint and they were going to do a quick x-Ray. After four hours we finally got a call with an update. It then took another 45 minutes for them to bring her after we were discharged over the phone. I understand things happen, but the lack of effort and communication from these folks is unprofessional. I would highly consider other options in the Memphis area for vet care. Beware, I’m concerned that this business is paying for their 4 and 5 star reviews.

My dog passed away a few hours after Memphis Veterinary had us waiting for hours without even an assessment. We called before we were on our way & filled out the online paperwork work. We explained the situation & what kind of state she was in just to be told they take cases based on severity. After waiting a couple hours we made our way to another vet in Arkansas before Memphis Veterinary called and said they'd be outside do check her in. Her temperature was extremely high and her lower back and legs were paralyzed. She passed later that night. No one came out to even look at her and assess how severe her situation was. Her respirations we're very high. She needed oxygen. She needed to be cooled down from a 108 temperature. She needed help while we watched 3-4 other dogs walk in while she lost mobility. Disgusting.
