Unlike any shelter I've ever been too. These kitties are not caged, but roam freely. Such a positive experience.

The staff here works tirelessly maintaining a loving and safe environment for cats that don't currently have homes. They are a no kill center so they will take care of the cats until they pass if they aren't adopted. It is a well maintained place and the people there are very friendly and caring. They are my go to charity and my choice at smile.amazon.com. Our recent visit was to donate all of the items we still had after our last cat, Noah, passed 2 weeks ago. If you are thinking of donating to a shelter I highly recommend this group!

I called several cat rescues just seeking advice and some resources. This is the ONLY return call I got. The nice lady answered ALL of my questions and pointed me in a couple different directions. Thank You!

This is a truly magical place, built and maintained by the love of cats and their humans. Even if you aren't ready to be adopted right now, visiting Hermitage Cat Shelter will make your heart purr. The cats are lovingly housed in a series of large rooms with cat-friendly furnishings. The cats all seem to be comfortable with their surroundings and fellow residents; the layout allows the cats to become comfortable both with other cats and with visits from strangers. Even the cats who don't choose to be petted are comfortable with people walking around. There are SO many beautiful, friendly cats that it's easy to fall in love over and over again. The staff is helpful, caring, and obviously dedicated to providing a safe environment and finding secure, loving fur-ever homes for their charges. I was adopted by a wonderful young kitty: without words, he informed me that it was time to take him home. No matter what kind of cat you're looking for -- young or old, tabby or calico, frisky or laid back -- you will find several kitties here to fit the hole(s) in your heart.

A gem in our community. No-kill and saving hundreds of kitties a year. Great staff and volunteers.

The Hermitage is a wonderful place to visit with cats to adopt and to sponsor. This is an ideal no-kill sanctuary environment for cats of all ages. Many cats are looking to go home and many call this their home. They all seem as well cared-for and happy as they could be. I will come here for my adoption in the near future and to visit the wonderful kitties again.

Adopted a fur baby today. Leisurely walk around looking but when I sat down, I just waited to see who would come to me. Didn't take long and several came for pets. But the one I brought home chose me. I'm sure We will be very happy together.

If you're considering adoption here, prepare for a long list of personal and legal questions for you to answer. And you may not get a response, in my case, I was ignored. I tried calling back to inquire but never got a legitimate response. I've been treated better at any other local adoption home.

I volunteer at the shelter. The shelter takes in strays, ferals, and kittens. Provides Veterinarian care, daily maintenance cleaning, and provides a cage fee environment for them.

I have been trying to get ahold of someone at this shelter for over a week now to see if they will take in a cat and her 6 kittens. They told my aunt they would take them in after I filled out an intake form but I still received no response. I have left several messages for over a week but no one has gotten back to me on whether or not they will take these cats in. I feel like I've wasted my time waiting for this shelter to give me an answer when I could've been contacting other shelters. I was going to give a generous donation on top of the intake fees for the cats too but they don't bother checking their messages or taking 2 minutes of their time calling people back. Bad experience!

Wonderful experience and education from the caring staff at Hermitage, the year was 2016. After 5 years and many happy memories together, our fur baby sadly passed away (cancer) in 2021, but as soon as our family is ready to adopt again, we will adopt through Hermitage.

My son went in to look at kittens. He really liked a kitten named Arnold Palmer. We filled out the application (which specifically asks which kitten you'd like to adopt), the person at reception advised the application would be looked at and reviewed at the end of that day or early the next morning. My son was crushed when he logged on to the site and found that Arnold Palmer had been adopted by someone else. Why get a child's hopes up for a specific pet when it can be adopted out from under them. Very disappointed in the customer service. The cats however are very cared for and loved. The picture is of Arnold Palmer w/my child.

I originally adopted my cat from here and used to have positive experiences and constantly recommended to friends until now. Recently my cat fell ill, she stayed in the animal hospital for two nights, was returned for me in worse condition, and spent over $3,000 on the bill. As a college student, I would not have spent so much money on a cat that wasn't important to me. As a last resort I asked the hermitage about surrendering her because I was aware they had a medical facility and hoped she would get seen quickly as this was an emergency situation. I asked if it was possible I can adopt her again once she is well, the assistant said it may be possible because considering my circumstance. It wasn't until later a manager told me I would not be able to adopt her or see her and I would be put on a "do not adopt list." These rules make sense for people who decide to surrender a cat because they don't want them anymore but this was not the case for my cat and I. When I ask if I can know if she is even still alive or has recovered I am told I cannot be given that information. This information was also not told to me when I signed the intake form which is what they are using to enforce these rules. This cat had become a major part of my life and helped with my anxiety, to know an organization so passionate about cats is not willing to let me know how my cat is and not allowing me to adopt her again is very disappointing. I still don't know how my cat is.

We visited Hermitage Cat Shelter and Holly gave us a tour. There were no cats in little cages they all had pretty much the run of the place in their special sections with access to outdoor patio spaces where are the kitties could you the goings on outside and catch a few rays. There are nooks and crannies everywhere throughout the building and lots of little hidey-holes and "trees" and scratching posts and elevated pathways. All of these were in use by the various kitties during our visit. The entries and exits for each area had sanitizer provided, especially useful for the covid-19 times we are in currently. Special needs cats had their own special places. Most cats had a color coded collar where one could learn something about it. One could stay and watch the cats interact, or sleep, as long as wanted. And one can choose a companion animal of their very own from here. This facility is one of the best I have ever seen where animals that have been lost might end up. The staff and volunteers were very caring and understanding of their charges. If one is looking for that special pet, we would certainly recommend a stop at this place where at the very least you will learn something.

I've been using the pet pantry on and off since August of 2016. They helped me with my kitty when she was dying. You won't find too many places in Tucson that let the animals roam like the hermitage. Whether your looking for a new feline friend, want to volunteer or need help finding pet resources. This place is simply wonderful

Clever and cost effective barriers. Hermitage follows all guidelines to keep people safe. Dropped off a regnant, fearful cat they accepted from PACC. I know she'll be OK in their care
