So far so good... Will update my review as I progress through surgery and my entire experience. First impression is that x-rays are an absolute fortune here. For digital x-ray equipment that's less than $500/mo to lease a single x-ray should not cost more than $50 with remote analysis. A human can get an x-ray for $15 to $20, a CT scan for $100 to $150, and an MRI for $250 to $300... A pet should not be 3,000% more expensive. I'm prepared to spend the $18,600 on my Yorkie's hip replacement, he's worth it to me, but it saddens me to think of how many pets are put down by their owners just out of the enormously high cost of procedures like these. That's a lot of lives lost and sadness created. Very nice facility, very nice staff. We're driving back and forth from Flagstaff for our puppy...

Great service! I appreciated the time they took to explain diagnosis and a treatment. Dr. L is big Jolly man and my dog instantly took to him. Staff was accommodating and personable, they offered water/coffee while I waited. They do a great job in keeping the facility clean and does not smell like a typical vet office. I suggest light reading on your dogs anatomy and physiology so that you follow along with the the Doctor and ask questions. Thanks for everything!

Dr lirtzman and his staff are top notch. He is a miracle worker for dogs that need tplo surgery. Our dog had two separate surgeries on both back legs a month apart. We did everything that they said to do for healing for about 3 months Now our pup is able to do everything he did before his injuries. We are super happy our dog is out of pain and running around again. I can't recommend Dr lirtzman and staff enough to be able get our dog walking again.

Brought our 3- year-old pubby to have both back legs checked out due to weakness and possible tendon tears. The ladies were extremely patient with our corgi/healer/hound mix. The doctor/surgeon was extremity patient with us and spent time explaining things. Felt very comfortable bringing our fur baby to Animal Spec Group.

We’re almost five years out from having Dr. Ross fix up my dog’s knee with TPLO. After seeing another surgeon, we drove further and paid more to have it done by him. She can run and jump like nothing every happened. Extremely happy with the outcome.

So thankful I was referred to such an amazing vet/team! My sweet dog (who happens to be deaf and has a lot of special needs) had TPLO surgery and received exceptional care! And as an overprotective dog mom (also a nurse) all of my concerns and anxieties were at ease with how thorough Dr. Lirtzman explained everything and answered all of my questions. Not to mention the staff - all the way from the front desk to the vet techs who are absolutely AMAZING! They were so loving to my girl and tentative to her needs and Beth was kind enough to text me with updates and helped resolved up some tummy troubles Tuli had a few days later. I was so confident leaving my girl with them overnight and couldn’t be happier with how smooth everything has gone! Absolutely would recommend, they are THE BEST!!

The staff here goes out of their way to care for the animals. Very friendly, and compassionate staff. Dr. Lirtzman is very wonderful, takes the time to discuss and talk like a real person to patients families. I have visited multiple times and also feel very well take care of and respected.

Brought my Labrador Cooper here after we found out he had a full CrCL tear and so glad we did. With Cooper being 7 years old, he still has a lot more lakes to jump into, camping trips with the family, and more trail runs with me. I wanted to find the best care I could, regardless of price. Cooper went from not putting his leg down to now being headed to almost a full recovery 5 weeks later. Every interaction I have had with the practice has been 100% informative and also fun. The staff has a great sense of humor and Dr. Lirtzman takes all the time he needs to make sure your questions are answered. The night of the surgery, Cooper had to stay there and I got recovery photos/updates as much as I wanted. I was even able to watch the actual surgery via a webcam. Thankful to have this team taking care of Cooper and all the attention he received.

It took me awhile to write this review because my husband and I have been incredibly heartbroken over the loss of our 2.5 year old mastiff Hank back in May. I didn't have it in me to write my experience with ASGS till now. I felt that it was important for me to write this review so people are aware of our experience with ASGS. My dog Hank was complicated he was diagnosed with valley fever and 2 torn MLC's. After the second torn ligament we knew it was imperative Hank recieved the proper care he needed from the best surgeon. After reading the google reviews and meeting with Dr. Lutzman we were impressed and believed we were in good hands & it was worth the extra thousands of dollars rather than by another surgeon less expensive. I was concerned with 2 torn ligaments that Hank would have an extra hard time recovering and the doctor told me it wouldn't be easy but should be a smooth recovery. Hank had the surgery and we were told the next morning that all was good. The following call we received was not so good. We were told that it seemed as Hank had aspirated during surgery and we needed to pick him up and drive him to the emergency room that they recommended. As this was happening my other 2 year old goldendoodle was experiencing autoimmune complications and was sent to the ER later that evening after Hank was admitted. If you are a dog lover you could imagine how heartbreaking this was for my husband and I considering these 2 young dogs were our children and in critical condition at the same time in the hospital for separate reasons. The ER held Hank for a couple days and then believed he was good to come home, after a couple hours of being home his tongue had turned blue and we had to carry him into the car and drive him back to the ER where he was taken away and went into cardiac arrest and died minutes later. Corona was happening so I was not allowed to go with him into the vet and the last I saw of him was his panicked face watching me leave. Meanwhile my other dog Elly was inside the same ER on feeding tubes with no one being able to figure out was wrong with her so we started to prepare for her death as well. Between the 10k bill from the surgery center and the emergency visits between both dogs we began to feel hopeless that there was only so much we would do. During this course of time the emergency vet clinic was extremely professional and sympathetic towards our situation with outstanding communication. Without communicating with our regular vet what happened they took the liberty of reaching out and saying they were so sorry about Hank and Elly was in their prayers. Did ASGS ever reach out? That is where my 1 star review comes in. I was so surprised I had not received a phone call checking up on Hank or if they were updated by the emergency vet about Hank to give condolences that I decided to call them and let them know with tears that Hank was dead and my other dog was dying as well. The lady on the phone was sweet and gave her condolences, they sent a small bouquet and card signed by the staff but not Dr. Lirtzman. NOTHING from Dr. Lirtzman meaning no phone call or even a signature on a sympathy card. I was shook by this. My husband is a physician and I have 2 friends in the vetinary fields and all believe that this was not a common situation and he handled it with disrespect. I'm sick to my stomach writing this review but people need to know the bedside manner of this doctor and the true nature of his character. In my opinion at the end of the day he cares more about making money than his patients. I would say he is successful in what he does and I would assume he communicates with his clients post-op when he is successful but when he is not successful he is no where to be found. To end this review we lost our baby, tens and thousands of dollars and a phone call from the doctor that performed a major surgery on our dead dog. Dr. Lirtzman I hope that you read this review and learn that one phone call goes a long way and could have made all the difference in the integrity of you & the practice you represent.

Dr. Lirtzman and his staff showed more care and individual compassion for our German Shepherd than any veterinary specialist we’ve ever dealt with. For the rest of our lives, they will be the standard that we judge all other vets and specialists against. Thank you for taking such good care of our Daisy and her broken leg.

From my first phone call to me checking out I was happy with everyone and my interactions with them. We brought our kitten Barry in for a consultation for a fractured pelvis. Dr . Lin was thorough and genuinely excited to see a cat! Matter of fact the whole staff was. Lol. Dr Lin listened and understanding. Matter if fact she recommended a non surgical approach! We consulted with a couple of other places who didn't even see our kitten just his xrays and they immediately wanted to do surgery. If we need more specialty visits we will drive from East Mesa out here! Worth the drive! Thank you!

We went to Dr Lirtzman for a second opinion and it was a very professional, impressive and enlightening visit. I was impressed that a surgeons first recommendation was NOT surgery. He has the animals best interest at heart and appears very knowledgeable in the field.

Went here to get a second opinion for my baby dog Tucker. We drove an hour to see the Doctor and very happy we did. Couldn’t be more happy with the quality and professionalism of all the staff. It truly is above and beyond. I called and the receptionist called my previous doctor and got all the previous X-rays and medical records for me. The Doctor reviewed our babies case before we even saw him! Everything was organized. The doctor even had a little drawing of my dogs leg when I arrived. Can’t say thank you enough and how appreciative I am of everyone! You all do amazing things and you made this Dog Mom so happy and blessed!

Bailey, our 115lb Chocolate lab had 2 TPLO surgeries here. 1 in 2017 and 1 in 2018. The admin staff here are awesome, the Vet techs are awesome. After the surgeries we received frequent follow up texts with pictures, and calls on how he was doing. Dr. Lirtzman takes time to explain all options for surgery and is VERY personable. We wish he was our regular Vet. The outcomes of the surgeries are exactly as he explained and our dog is back to high activity with no problems. Highly recommended.

This place is fantastic. Dr. Lirtzman and his staff are the most loving, caring and compassionate team you will ever meet. If you pick this team and doctor to operate on your dog you struck the jackpot. Their are not enough words that my wife and I can say to express how lucky we are to have them perform a full hip replacement on our dog Peanut.

Amazing! Our pup was very sick and he went above and beyond. Our vet reached out to him and he got our pup in immediately. He personally called several times to check up on our pup and asked us to email pictures so he could see the swelling going down. Thank you for helping our pup!

Friendly staff, they make sure you fully understand what is needed and they give you the options to accomplish that goal. The surgery was a TPLO in both knees first one no problems until she messed up her other one, second one same thing no problems. Working now on getting her strength back. She is back to acting like a happy dog again. The surgeon made sure we understood what was going to happen and after the surgery showed us video clips and x-rays sharing what he did. He is very proud of the work he does, and is very happy to share his work. I would absolutely recommend using his services and would not hesitate to return again for any orthopedic procedure my dogs need.
