My dog had indigestion. She has had it for a few weeks nothing severe. I called on Monday to make an appointment and was seen on Friday. The appointment took over an hour and a half, Dr. Sarimento was extremely rude and unprofessional. I spoke to a Tech who had a print out and took notes on that paper, The Dr came in with loose leaf binder notes and stated I was hear for chronic face swelling... After a few minutes of asking questions and not really listening to why I was there I had to tell her I did not appreciate the snide gestures when I was trying to remember an off medical test and time frame, considering I've been coming to VCA for 6 years without issue they should have had my records. I pushed back on the Dr. being rude and misdiagnosing me to which she became defensive for being understaffed and having emergencies. After 10 minutes of not listening to my concern I was presented by the Tech a list of procedures worth over $900 delaying me from checking out by an additional hour while stating oh you know we wouldn't want anything to be happening and playing on the heart strings. I've been here before, a vet tried to rip us off for 1200 when my pet just needed a few strong antibiotics, turns out after getting a second opinion diet seemed to be an easy solution to try first. I have since been fighting the charges with the office manager and hospital manager both whom have not reached out to me, and continue to ignore. I have had great service before, even just a few months back which they should have had records for, needless to say I won't be back as long as they continue to operate not for the well being of my pets health, but for lining their pockets with unnecessary medication, blood work, ultrasounds and X-rays when my dog just might need a different type of food. Also the type of food doesn't have preservatives, but they wanted her to go on something that has a 2 year shelf life.... I won't be back.

0 star rating!! I took my senior dog here to get a mass removed that had opened and all the doctor did was send us home with a $280 dollar skin antibiotic shot. I called to inform southside that it's getting worse, the doctor was about to give me another antibiotic, when I declined and said "tumors wont heal, this needs to be removed!!" So she told me she cant do it and to go somewhere else then ended the phone call. I have been with Southside for many years and I can honestly say that I'm extremely disappointed in VCA Southside Animal Hospital located on Central and Baseline. Ever since VCA bought it the service has changed for the worse. I wont be using them anymore. Or any other VCA locations because its obvious they are money hungry and dont care about the animals or clients. If they cared they would have helped my animal.

Decided to try them out, back in March , as We rescued to dogs. Not once did we speak with the vet. Their process for treating and giving feedback was horrible. Cause when we arrived someone eventually came outside took the two dogs from us and when they returned we couldn't even get a simple answer regarding what they weighed. Got a heartworm prescription, paid our bill and left completely disappointed. I called to ask about a different type of heartworm pill and requested a script for that but was denied. There was no educating regarding this breed, their physical assessments were minimal at best and we've decided to go back to our previous vet.

The front desk lady is very rude! Her name is Carol. She tried to cancel my dogs appointment because I didn't call from outside the office. Be ready for her horrible customer service. We paid thousands and thousands of dollars to help our animals stay in good shape only be to be treated like dirt from Carol at the front desk. Right now all the customers are sitting in the office looking all disappointed. I don't mind getting my dog's dental work done there but I'm worried when I call for my appointment day Carol will not answer the phone and cancel my appointment because she's too busy answer another call while customers are outside calling and waiting. For her to pick up and let us in for our doctor appointment.

It's very unfortunately, my appointment was scheduled on very hot day in the afternoon, I rushed my 2 dogs and arrived at this vet office on time as scheduled, but my two dogs and I couldn't get inside and have to wait outside, the temperature outsude is 112. Their people can not even tell me when my dogs can get in, even we got there on time. Outside the asphalt parking lot is burning. They never notified me their office visit process is different. And only told wait outside or get in the car and don't block the way, which made me feel their business behaviour is really bully, how could I trust my dog's health in their hands.

I called to schedule an appt for my dog at our clinic at 67th and Indian School. No one answered the phone. I called another location to verify what Google was reporting and was told that yes--they were permanently closed and have merged with this new location in South Phoenix. We live in Northwest Surprise and had not been notified of this. I called the South Phoenix location to ask if they can transfer the Care Club I paid for (a year's worth, in advance, last November--$1500) to a closer clinic in El Mirage. I was told no. I had been under the impression we still had several vet visits left and immunizations on the plan that should have been covered, as long as they were used by November. I was told by the woman who answered the phone that our plan had "exceeded the amount paid -$1500" and was no longer in effect because the dental services we used it for in November came to $1600 (more than what we paid in). So the plan is no longer able to be used and we would have to pay for vet visits and immunizations out of pocket. This is really bad practice. They are going to lose me as a customer and our dog as a patient, after 10 years of loyal services. We will find a new vet who honors their contracts!!! Do not go here, they will rip you off and not honor their Care Club contract.

I'm not normally one to complain, but this was ridiculous. I was scheduled for a routine checkup and vaccines. I also was having some issues with my dogs skin I wanted to get checked out. My appointment was originally at 11:30, but they called and asked if I could come earlier at 10:30, which was perfect. My dog and I showed up at 10:18 and was brought in almost immediately. Here's where it gets frustrating. We didn't see a staff member until 10:50ish, and all she did was get preliminary questions and say the vet would be in shortly. Fast forward to 11:45, almost an HOUR, and the vet comes in. We do a check-up and evaluation, and she says that they will get my vaccines shortly and we will be on our way. Fast forward to another 15 MINUTES later and the vet tech comes in - not with vaccines, but with an estimate of pay. We work out the details and she says it's FINALLY time for vaccines. BUT we waited another 10 MINUTES. When it was finally time to leave, we had been there over 2 hours. The kicker was, when we were checking out, the staff seemed to be having a "luncheon" and didn't have a care in the world. Is this the reason you asked me to come in an hour earlier than scheduled?? Why would you ask if I can come in earlier than my scheduled time and then make me sit in a small room for 2 HOURS with my dog?? By the end of the appointment I was so frustrated I was almost to the point of tears. And don't even get me started on prices. They tried to sell me on getting special food and allergy shots and special shampoo, when I explained at the beginning of the appointment that I was low on funds and could only afford the basics. My initial estimate was almost $500, but after much haggling and talking, we ended on just under $250 for a check-up, vaccines, and some allergy meds. I have a follow-up scheduled. but at this point I am probably going to cancel and find a new vet. They were great when I first started, but today's visit left a sour taste in my mouth.

This place has no regard to work with their patients and owners by failure to communicate when any issues arise and forcing the patient and owner to wait up to an hour outside attempting to resolve any issues that they fail to resolve. In addition, they are willing to make animals and owners wait outside in their parking lot in 115 degree temperatures instead of allowing patients and their owners inside their building.

This has been the worse vet to go to, they don’t communicate anything! The first time they didn’t prescribe pills anymore I was never told instead had to wait a week to get pills thru chewy who then STILL had to get an approval from this vet! NOW I need to take my dog in to be seen but it was never communicated me as well! Now my dog has to wait again some weeks before getting medication !!!! And of course no help from the staff! Never want to take responsibility this is not a good place to go! They don’t care about your pets just your money

I've been going to this clinic for years. Since Dr. Yocham was the owner. Now the past few times I've called for an appointment, they are always booked. I've even been turned away when it's an emergency. So much for loyalty. How I miss the days when Dr. Yocham never turned away a sick animal.

They were wonderful untill VCA took over now they are horrible. You make and apt and still wait in the car for an hour before they take you in. Also try and make you have appointments for everything. They saw my dog 6 months ago and will not refill her heartworm medication because they want me to bring her in again. She is very scared without me and last time I sent her in without me she is still scared of men since.

Great place to take your loving pets they care for them as if they belong to them. They keep you updated on what they are doing and what they suggest for treatment and how to get you the same treatment that is needed but for the best price. All the staff was great very respectful, polite and helpful every time I spoke with them or when the called me to update me on what they were doing.

called to make an appointment for my cat who was sick last week, couldn't get an appointment until a whole week later. i arrived for appt at 2pm, called the number to check in but no answer. had to call two more times til i got an answer. was able to check in and they told me to wait for a call to bring her in. i waited 30 minutes then called to ask what happened but no answer. called one more time before i got an answer. the front desk told me they had tried to call me but i didn't pick up (i hadn't gotten a call from them at all). he put me on hold for 10 mins to "talk to the vet techs." never got back to me. at this point i was waiting outside 40 minutes in blistering heat with my cat who was panting, waiting to be allowed inside for an appointment i made for the top of the hour. called them again, was put on hold, and finally he got back to me for details. i was very angry and I complained about the absurd protocols and professionalism of this clinic, only then he said they would see me. finally at 2:50 i was able to take her inside for the check up. they just looked at her on the outside checked her vitals, and said she was fine. $75 bucks for 10 minute lookover and 50 minute wait in horrible desert heat. THIS IS THE EXPERIENCE FOR A REGULAR VISIT. DO NOT BOTHER TO TAKE YOUR PET HERE, ESPECIALLY IN AN EMERGENCY.
