Our chihuahua, Dumont, was a scared aggressive dog who nipped at strangers (and sometimes us). Dumont spent three weeks in the Board & Train Program. At the conclusion of the board & train we also went through follow up training with Dumont. Dumont is now a well-behaved and confident dog and we are more confident in our ability to train him. Troy’s understanding of dogs and extensive training materials will help us continue to work with Dumont and be better dog owners. We highly recommend Paws To Train Your Dog.

I'm not a dog owner, however I attended the training of my Daughter Rhonda's dog Jakey. I was impressed with Troy's knowledge and ability to transfer it to Jakey, Rhonda and myself. Jakey is now a well mannered and obedient companion. In my opinion Troy is like having our own Ceasar Millan, right here in Phoenix !

I could not be happier with the changes Troy made with Jakey and myself. When we met Troy, Jakey would not listen to any commands, he was taking things and chewing them up, he darted back and forth and pulled when walking. Now we are both well trained and very happy. I would highly recommend Troy to anyone that needs help with their dog.

I was in need of a trainer when i first got Zara. She wasn't listening to commands, would jump on people, and would jump on the furniture. Finding Paws to Train your Dog was a blessing. After Troy trained Zara, she listens to all my commands, knew how to stay in her place when told, and she stopped jumping on people or on the furniture. She was even able to go to work with me and behave at work! I definitely recommend Troy for any training needs! He truly is amazing at what he does and treats your dog as his own!

We are so appreciative of all that Troy has done for our dog, Diego! He's helped with his aggression, which in reality was fear of other dogs. The training that we have received has helped Diego immensely, as well as made life more enjoyable for our family as a whole. Troy is the best trainer we have worked with and comes highly recommended!

We were looking for a trainer to help us understand our dog better and help him be more confident around other people and dogs. Troy gave us a lot of information the first time we met with him and immediately decided to do the 3 week program. Yomi, our dog, has improved so much. He's more patient during his walks, is not easily distracted by other dogs or people who come across him during his walks and his new raw diet has helped improve his skin dryness. We've learned so much in so little time and we are so happy Yomi did his training with Troy.

Troy was amazing and helped us drastically train our dog, Rufus! I was blown away with how much knowledge Troy has and he did an incredible job training our 8-month pup. Our pup, Rufus, struggled with paying attention and being overly excited when seeing other people/dogs. I was blown away to see how great Rufus has been since his 3-week board and train, and even our neighbors are blown away by the difference. Rufus is more understanding of commands, listens 10x better, and is overall a happier pup. If you are looking for a trainer, look no further because Paws To Train Your Dog is place you want to be! I can not thank Troy enough for making a huge positive change in our lives!

Having my 3 year old rescue French Bulldog work with Troy was one of the best decisions I have ever made!! The evaluation was worth every penny just to see what he could do in an hour! Then to trust him with her(my baby) for almost a month? Not a doubt in my mind that she was in professional and capable hands!! Since the training he has been helpful and nothing but a great resource for my frenchie - I trust him and all the teachings- and since working with Troy @PawsToTrainYourDog I have a better trained dog (and more importantly, he trained ME on how to be a better owner) - would make the decision to go with Troy 100x over!!!

We brought our skittish pup, Quinney, to do a board and train with Troy a few months back. At the time, Quinney was fearful of new people and not very obedient on walks. Of course, most of this was our fault--only we didn't know that just yet. Troy helped us to see how Quinney was communicating with us and what she needed from us in terms of leadership and stability. Since the board and train, Quinney has continued to grow her comfort with new people and regularly allows people to greet her without barking, fleeing, or peeing. We also are better at seeing when she's uncertain and advocating for her. As far as walking goes, we have improved greatly using the pack walk and Quinney seldom pulls or is disobedient on leash. Troy is the best trainer we've ever worked with. He's professional, honest, and adds value in every interaction you have with him. Highly recommended.

My rescue pup Toby was displaying aggression with new people which was very stressful and scary. I took Toby to Troy thinking that I would need to complete a board and train because of his behavior. At our first consultation, Toby was lunging at Troy and Troy was able to calm Toby and have him walking quietly on a leash with him within 10-15 minutes. I had taken Toby to another consultation with a trainer who was not able to calm Toby at all within 20 minutes. After Toby's consultation, Troy let me know the basis of Toby's aggression was fear and that he was not a truly aggressive dog. This information was so helpful in soothing my anxiety about him and our ability to rehabilitate him. Troy discussed the ways we can reduce fear and anxiety to reduce aggression. Troy presented information about his 6 week in person training and said that he did not feel we needed a board and train. I appreciated that he had thoroughly evaluated Toby and was presenting the option that he felt made sense for us and Toby. The previous trainer who had not been able to calm Toby had indicated that he thought a board and train would be best, and was clearly interested in the option that was better for business. Toby graduated today and has made amazing progress in the six weeks that we have been working with Troy. Troy cares about dogs and is intimately and acutely aware of how to communicate with them. Training with Troy means learning how to understand your dog, and gain tools for communicating clearly with your dog. I am so happy that we worked with Troy and so pleased with the progress Toby has made. I would recommend Troy to anyone looking for a dog trainer without hesitation. You won't regret it.

Troy is the absolute best! My dog Nala was leash reactive and fearful. Troy explained dog psychology and allowed us to have a deeper understanding of what Nala needs to be at peace. He never lets you leave a session without you feeling 100% confident in the session and is always happy to answer questions. Training is a lifelong process, but I’ve already seen so much improvement in 6 weeks. 10/10 recommend Troy!!!

A long overdue review! We took our pup Bitsie to Troy for anxiety and (perceived) aggression towards other dogs. We learned her anxiety and "aggression" were fear based, and how to help her overcome and support her with our behavior. Troy is a true dog lover and expert! He will not B.S. you about "fixing" your dog, but rather educate and teach you as an owner about why your dog behaves certain ways and how you can help modify that behavior through informed training. He's passionate, and I felt that he always advocated for Bitsie's best interest, which is so important when trusting someone else with your fur kid! *Biggest thing* It's important to understand this training is a long term investment in your pup and their happiness (and frankly yours!), not a "quick fix." It takes work on the owner's part to see lasting results. Luckily, Troy provides the tools and resources, and we know if we start seeing a regression we have the lifetime support to get back on track. Thank you, Troy!

We adopted a feral and very shy, and confused dog from Mexico. This was not our first dog in the family. But even after training and owning 6 previous dogs we just weren't getting anywhere with Kina. We struggled for some weeks trying to understand her and I'm certain she was struggling to understand what we were asking of her. After 6 weeks of working directly with Troy he was able to help us better understand Kina's actions and what they meant; to teach Kina a host of commands; and now we are able to enjoy Kina and have her be an important part of our family. The training journey has not ended but we are now on a solid foundation to move forward because of Troy's knowledge, techniques and hands on work (with the owners and the dog). Thanks Troy!!

Troy is knowledgeable, kind, and he is also effective. I’m only a few short weeks our dog has gone from running our house to living happily under our rules. We now have a peaceful and fun dog instead of a demanding and loud one!

Dogs have been a part of my life for the better part of two decades. I have been able to train every dog I've owned, so I thought I was a natural born dog whisperer! And then I got Bailey... None of my normal training tricks worked, so I chalked it up to me being frustrated and her being extremely stubborn. I was half right. My wife and I decided to enlist the help of Troy at Paws to Train Your Dog. After the initial consultation, we opted to pursue the "Good Dog! Program." Each week was methodically built upon the previous, and our skills/toolset grew to match. We realized that he was training us just as much as Bailey! Her issues had nothing to do with stubbornness and everything to do with how we communicated with her. As long as you have patience, make sure to practice, stick to the program, and present a calm demeanor, you will succeed. Now, Bailey is no longer pulling on the leash, is much calmer around other dogs/people, and generally well behaved.

Troy at Paws to Train Your Dog has been incredible to work with. Our 9 month old puppy, Koda, is so sweet and SMART, but we were having trouble with her high level of energy. She caught on to tricks really easily, but it was difficult to teach her obedience... turns out, we just didn't know what we were doing! Troy is patient, kind and extremely knowledgeable. He understands dog behavior and knows what to look for when he's interacting with your dog. We told him this morning that we could come to him every week for a year or more and still learn something new every time! He's truly opened my eyes to a better way of training your dog. My pup, Koda, took to him (and his dogs) instantly. She even stayed with him for a week while we were traveling and I felt at ease knowing she was safe, but not running around doing whatever she wanted the whole time. I see now more than ever that structure is what dogs need to be happy, and my dog is happier and less stressed than ever. I'm so pleased with the amount of progress we've seen in just a few short weeks and I'm excited to take the training tools we've learned to teach her to be an amazing dog when she's grown.

Troy has great insights into dog behavior. We first came to Troy with our first mastiff, Rasmus, who developed behavioral anxieties after being attacked by another dog when he was about 10 months old. We needed someone who could help us bring out the best in our dog after he started showing signs of what we thought were aggressive behaviors. There were a few issues happening with our dog that Troy instinctively picked up on including his health. Troy helped us effectively unpack what was happening with Rasmus and continually gave us the tools we needed to help him relieve the stress that he felt when out and about in the world. Troy was so effective in helping us decipher our dog’s behavior that we saw light at the end of a very long tunnel. Unfortunately our sweet dog had some major underlying health issues and we had to make the decision to put him down. It took us a year to decide to get another mastiff puppy. Before we committed to this new endeavor we contacted Troy to see if he would be available to help us train him from the get go. We got Ronan when he was 9 weeks old and met with Troy when he was 12 weeks. We are so pleased with how Troy has helped us manage our more than rambunctious, curious, mischievous, playful, and over-zealous 7 month old puppy. Ronan is a confident and well-adjusted puppy. We are so happy that Troy is our dog trainer. Troy is truly an advocate for dogs and wants what is best for them. Troy is quick to respond to any concerns we may have and supports whenever and wherever needed. Our experience with Troy has been nothing but satisfying. If you are looking for a trainer that has a holistic approach to training Troy is your guy.

Troy helped us train Bogie, our beagle puppy. With Troy’s help Bogie (and Bogie’s humans) learned basic obedience, leash skills, nutrition, & much more. Our sessions with Troy were very informative & Bogie is a different dog. He listens, is much calmer, & well behaved. Troy was great about answering our questions & is very responsive when you reach out for help. Troy is very knowledgeable & tailors his training to what your dog needs, he isn’t a one size fits all trainer. We are incredibly lucky to have found Troy - we are better dog owners & we have a happier dog!

Troy is professional, responsive and caring. What sold us on Troy was life-long support, access to his boarding facilities and participation in group classes. He is no-nonsense, clear, and his results are backed by years of experience. We worked with multiple trainers before finding Troy, and are glad we did. Where others could not help, he did. However, don't expect to be passive in this process. Training our dog has been hard work. Be prepared to dedicate time, energy and a whole lot of patience to the process. Real, lasting results to help your dog are not easy to come by when dealing with tough behavior issues - but Troy guides you through the process, takes his time explaining his methods and supports you throughout the way.

In 2016 we decided to adopt a Border Collie named Kip. Within the first week of him being in our home, he bit at least one person and snapped at several others. Needless to say we were concerned as we have an active home with three …

Troy has been an amazing help with our new puppy! He has spent just as much time educating us as he has working with Stanley. His knowledge and commitment are second to none! He has worked with us to understand his needs and cues, and how to make the transition from shelter to his forever home, a smooth one for Stanley. Troy has always been available for follow-up, with email advice after the training to encourage us and answer any questions that have come up. I highly recommend him for puppy training!

We adopted Bailey in February 2017 and discovered she was very lovable with humans, but seemed fearful of other dogs and had trouble listening to commands. Walks were a nightmare and we felt in over our heads, as we also found out we were expecting our first child right after we brought her home. We found Troy and enrolled Bailey and it was amazing! Within the first day, he was sharing a picture of her socializing with other dogs and being a good girl with the leash. He helped us feel comfortable and in control, so we never felt overwhelmed or frightened when we had our son. We continue to have Bailey train and board with Troy and couldn't be happier we found him!

Troy is an amazing dog trainer!!! We adopted our dog Sadie 6 years ago when she was around 2 years old. It was very obvious she struggled with a lot of anxiety and fear. Probably from having been abused by her previous owners. I knew the best thing for her and for my husband and I was to seek a professional dog trainer. This poor dog was scared of everything!!! We would put her in her crate every time we’d leave the house and she always found a way to get out or she would chew on her crate. It was so stressful for us at the beginning! Anyway after doing tons of research, I had contacted and met with multiple dog trainers in the valley. When my husband and I met Troy, we just had this feeling that we FINALLY met our guy! Everything about his views on dog training aligned with exactly what we wanted. So we decided to do the 2 week dog training where she stayed with him for a dog training bootcamp. Troy would send us videos and pictures of Sadie to show us how she was doing. Then when the time came to pick her up, she was a completely different dog! So calm, and relaxed. It was incredible!!! We couldn’t believe it honestly. She was exactly what we were hoping she’d be like. He crate trained her so she loves being in her crate while we are gone. Makes her feel very safe! Since then we’ve had 2 kids and Sadie has been amazing with our girls. Such a calm family dog. We are so happy to have met Troy. He’s honestly the best out there! You won’t regret hiring him to train your dog!!

Can’t say enough good things! Let me say, we’ve had our boy Trigger since he was just puppy, we raised him with a lot of love and attention. However, he slowly became, what we thought was, aggressive, and we didn’t understand how that happened or how to control this lunging 85lb dog in public. We met with Troy for a consult, who greatly understands dog psychology, and realized Trigger is not aggressive, but rather very anxious! The first step was understanding what was really going on with our dog. We did weeks of personalized one on one training, with great results. Troy was very knowledgeable and understanding, but also strict (which we ALL needed). It is not just about training the dog, it is also about training the owners. We all still need to practice on our own and make it into a life habit. But thanks to Troy, we have the knowledge and tools help our boy.

Troy has done so much to improve the quality of all of our lives, we came to him because we could not handle our dogs, we are staying at a retirement park, the dogs were reactive and snipping at people, we knew we needed help. Our dogs were anxiety driven and reactive due to lack of leadership/training from us and us not knowing how to help them relax and calm. We dreaded walking our dogs. In 3 weeks, our dogs have learned more than they had in 6 years and 4 dog training classes at Petsmart. We have a long way to go, but I look forward to each week when we can go to training. Troy is a giver in this world of takers, he gives support and is very knowledgeable. The people in the retirement park we are staying at, stop us and comment on the changes they see in our dogs. It is amazing. I highly recommend Paws to Train Your Dog. You saved our sanity. Thank you Troy Ceelo, Phoebe, Elsa, Diane and Randy Manulak

Troy really helped my wife and I understand what our dog needed and how we could help him. Setting ground rules and constantly working with our puppy has helped bond us closer and understand each other! None of it would have been possible without Troy!
