We brought out dog in for a check up because he was alternating quivering and panting. They immediately diagnosed valley fever ( he showed none of the symptoms) or pain. Following a spine xray ( perfectly normal) blood work was run. Low red blood elevated white. He had an infection of some sort. They would only prescribe a pain medication. In the meantime his valley fever results were negative. His symptoms progressed to death in less than a week What was striking about this service was the extreme lack of curiosity about what was wrong with our dog. We placed several phone calls to ask for a broad spectrum antibiotic- to no avail. DO NOT GO HERE. It appears that our dog was infected by something at the doggy park we visit. Other animals got sick but survived because they were properly diagnosed. No curiosity- no follow up. Sub- standard care.

Amazing care by the Doctors. No complaints always attentive and take special care of my fur kiddos. But, good luck trying to get an appointment with them. They have taken on too many clients for them to handle. This will be the 3rd time they have had to reschedule for more revenue appointments like surgeries. Then can’t seem to find an open spot you over booked? Absolutely unprofessional.

Because we like a one on one appointment they called when a cancelation allowed it . Our dog got his shots to update him and blood work for his upcoming dental care . They called later that evening to check on him and again because he was still not back to his old self . That was after 6:30 at night . We are very happy with the care he receives and all the people who care for him .

Took my fur baby there after a recent Acute liver injury scare. They got her in fast for a lab checkup. The ladies at the front desk were extremely welcoming. The vet was very knowledgeable and took her time to answer any of my questions. She also called me herself regarding my dogs lab work. You can tell the entire staff sincerely cares about your animals well being. I definitely recommend this place for your pets needs!

Staff is always very friendly, however its uneasy how unorganized things seems to be every interaction. Didnt get a call back on bloodwork had to ask ourselves, didn't get a checkup call during dental cleaning for my dog like I was told I had to call myself, and latest time was thinking I was a different client all together as well as not knowing my history of visits was uneasy. Although they're good for the services, ill find a new vet due to the unorganized handling of information.

Edit six months later: I adjusted my review and lowered the rating. I have worked in a vet hospital. I am very familiar with how busy it can get. I also consider myself a reasonable person. But when I call because my pet is sick and ask for them to be seen and you say that you can't see a sick pet for 2 weeks, that is unacceptable. In every vet hospital I have worked for, it was standard protocol to always leave a few gaps in the schedule for same day sick pet calls. Especially on a Monday. There are always pets that were not right over the weekend but not bad enough to go the the ER, but should be seen. Always. Even if it did get busy, you still offered to let them drop their pet off to be see between other patients. But to just say that they can't see a sick pet for 2 weeks, that is not ok. I will be taking my business somewhere else. I really do try to cut veterinary staff slack. I know how hard it is. Even with covid. But to have no room in your schedule for sick pets is unacceptable. Routine stuff can wait a week. Sick patients can't. Always have room for same day call ins. Always. Edit#2, they just called, 2 weeks after the above incident and left a message reminding me that my pet is do for a wellness checkup. So, you couldn't see my pet when it was sick but you want to see him when he is healthy? I don't get it... Overall, a good experience. The dental estimate I got was really high for a minimal cleaning. They require xrays, bloodwork, urine, etc. They are not optional. A minimal tartar dental cleaning on a young dog was estimated to cost more than $600. That is a lot! The regular wellness stuff was reasonably priced. No issues there. But man was I surprised when I got the dental estimate. Haven't decided if I will keep them as my regular vet. Nothing outstandingly awesome, but no horrible deal breakers either.

I love the Dr. Caldwell and the Staff at Alta Mesa, they are always so friendly and helpful. Dr. Caldwell listens and is very helpful in making decisions. I am sure their cost is pretty much the same as others, I don't know because I have been going here for almost 30 years. As long as I have had pets in AZ. Thank you Alta Mesa !

Dr. Fornara and Ray were excellent with Rocky. I was afraid Rocky wasn't going to be examined thoroughly since he dislikes being touched by strangers. Boy was I wrong! He got the full treatment of an xray, biopsy, exam and even got his nails trimmed. I'm very pleased with this vet and planning to bring Reno here, plus, I've already referred two friends.

The receptionist was very nice and professional, as we're the other staff.

Best Animal Hospital and have taken all my animals there from their initial bring home to end of life. Quality care and doctors are very knowledgeable truly caring about my pet's health. My pibble is very skittish when she comes but they are very professional even when she's sedated. Thank you! *Pet care program enrollee.

The entire staff was professional and polite and you can tell they really do care. Communication is a big thing for me and they did not disappoint. We will definitely be back and will be confident referring others here.

Although I have been with this clinic for 6 years since they got bought out by one of the big corporate firms they can never get your dog in within a reasonable timeframe for visits. Hire another vet or cap your patient load. This was the last straw for me I am now moving vets.

We had to say goodbye to our beloved dog Micki Lou and they were so wonderful with her. I cannot say enough about the care she received while she battled her seizures and aging. They were so thoughtful and kind and talked with her at the end like she was theirs. I am so grateful for Dr. Fornara and their kind staff. Their grace and kindness were much appreciated.

Alta mesa is wonderful. My husband found a 2 week old kitten and they were able to get us in within a few days when everywhere else was over A month's wait. Every time we bring our new kitty in they know exactly who she is. the staff are all very friendly I would highly recommend Alta Mesa

We've been here for years but it might be time to look elsewhere. My puppy came down with a parasite and had some yeast in the ears. They gave some medication for her to take for a week. We had a mini check up to see if the yeast was gone. The vet tech checked one ear and luckily I was watching her get ready to check the other one and she had the q-tip backwards!! Meaning she was going to poke my pup with the stick! I yelled wrong side! All she said was oh! Second upset, came with my dog throwing up one night and we took her to a 24 hour clinic. For them to still see the parasite and tell is that the medication given to us alone would not be enough to rid the parasite. It had to be accompanied by another medication. I was so upset a whole week we were doing something that wasn't going to work. We paid for medication and a vet visit for nothing! Its not cheap these visits. Now she is on the correct medication and has a follow up appointment scheduled and I'm truly considering after the check up to move on.

My pets receive such great care from the doctors and everyone at Alta Mesa. There are many vet clinics closer to my home, but I prefer to drive a little further because I know my animals are always in good hands here.
