Money hungry uncaring veterinarian clinic

After researching and visits to some other area vets, we went to Duval based on a dog owner's recommendation. Duval Animal Hospital was excellent. Friendly, efficient staff, careful with covid protocals, keeping clients well separated, and our Doctor was great - friendly, knowledgeable, and we are definitely new clients

I can't say enough about the professional and compassionate service I received by Duval Animal Hospital. I recently had to put down a beloved dog of mine and the staff at Duval Animal Hospital helped me through this painful event. The whole staff was helpful and caring!

Duval Animal Hospital has provided excellent care for my two shitz zhus for several years. My oldest was diagnosed with diabetes in August. Dr. Wilkinson and his staff were so supportive in my efforts to learn a new routine for her. I called in daily; Dr. Wilkinson or one of the techs called frequently. I can't ever remember getting that type of support from other Vets! They are amazing!

Do not go to this place! I've never had a vet take my animal out of the exam room to do an exam. We were there for euthanasia. When they finally brought our dog back to the room, she had both legs bandaged because evidently the incompetent helper couldn't find a vein

I really like the staff here. The veterinarians are very knowledgeable and the prices are very fair. They are very attentive to my fur babies. I've used a few vets in the area and this one is the best in my opinion.

Our dog has severe anxiety at times due to abuse as a puppy. Dr. Wilkinson worked with us to come up with the right dosage of the right meds and she is doing better every week. Amanda, one of the vet techs at DAH, called me every week for a month just to check in and see how well the increasing dosages were working. It's wonderful to see our pup so HAPPY! NOTE: We have worked with Jill Cruz, the best trainer around, on anxiety issues and consider medication a last resort. However, you can't completely train away anxiety caused by trauma.

We had 2 of our pets assisted across the “rainbow bridge” at Duval Animal Hospital!! Both times the staff was nothing short of EXEMPLARY with respect to courtesy, sympathy and caring of not only our pets but us as well!! Dr. Wilkensen is our doctor and we are very, very happy with his “bed side manner”. Duval Animal Hospital sets the “standard” for how a Veterinarian Hospital should treat its patients and family through “good” and “challenging” times!!!

UPDATE: We just scheduled an appointment for one of our three dogs at another vet for this weekend. The front desk help isn't the same as it was before and it's starting to feel like it's more about a profit than care for our pets. We struggled with the decision, but our last two interactions with the front desk person pushed us to make a change. This is the only vet we have taken our dogs to since we've had them and it's sad to have to start over with someone else. We always receive excellent service and I feel they really care about our pups. We trust the care we receive and are thankful to have them so close to home.

Duval has been our vet for a couple years now. They are caring, and devoted to your pets. We went thru 2 other vets prior to finding Duval and we were very impressed.

The receptionist was beyond rude to me. Did not see a sign on door stating to call on arrival and was not told when I made the appointment or when we got reminders for the appointment. The receptionist yelled at me me that I should have seen the sign on the door and would have to wait in the truck with a dig that did not want to get in the truck to go to the vet on the first place. The veterinary assistant WAS kind and tried to apologize, but I will not be returning to this vet for my dogs' care.

We have been taking a dogs there for over 10 years and they have always been very nice and always call the day after doing any surgery at the Hospital.

The front lady has no concept of professionalism! Very rude my husband went in with our dog and she rudely spoke to him about his mask in which he had no problem going to his vehicle to grab one and not one employee explained to him that he’d be the only one allowed with our little one while She get checked. When I arrived the same lady rudely asked me what I was doing or needed mind you walking in neither front desk ladies were wearing their masks! When I explained my husband and little one were in the back she said I couldn’t be back there only one person and stated it was policy! However I do not mind policies being in place but why is it that when you call to schedule an appointment these things are not explained I rushed to get there to be with my husband and little one for her appointment and when I called to explain why she needed to be seen and when they were asked if it was to soon for my little one to be checked they said no! During the appointment the doctor sent our little one away because it was to early! Moral of this complaint is when clients call and ask questions if you don’t know the answer don’t just give any response get the correct answer so people are not wasting time or money on something that is to soon to do! Also if your policies and procedures change then that should be addressed on the phone while making an appointment so again we are not wasting our time rushing to appointments if only one owner is allowed in the building!

Lack empathy. I underatand that its hard for them as well but they show a little compassion for people and animals. All they care about is money. Sorry excuse for a Animal Hospital.

I brought my dog in to get checked because she was acting abnormal, heavy breathing and panting. Dr. Overbey diagnosed her with a bad heart valve and put her on heart and blood pressure meds. About a month later she started having problems with breathing and panting again. I brought her back in to get checked. The Dr. said he couldn't find any reason for it, he guessed that she might just be hot, or maybe in pain and we should give her pain meds. I said I would like to know the cause and source of the pain. He said the only way to know that is to ask her, so I left. One day later she became really uncomfortable and was clearly having problems. So I called in to ask if I could bring her in for an emergency. The lady told me the best they could do is an appointment at 9:30 the next day for an extra $55. TLDR summary: I've spent over $8000 on various pets at this place, and in my hour of need they tell me to get lost. I'm now fully convinced this place cares about shaking you down for every cent they can and nothing else.

The Vet and staff are very helpful and professional. I will be happy when the mask and social distance requirement is lifted and we can be with our pets for their appointment.
