Had an emergency for our family guinea pigs. Tried every other vet in the area. They took her and got a course of treatment that really helped. My family is very thankful for EHPHRS

Hard to put into words how terrible my experience was, almost doesn't seem real. I adopted my puppy from a shelter almost 4 weeks ago. Began looking into a daycare for one day a week while I'm at work. Called Emerald Shores Pet Hospital to inquire if they had day care. Indeed they did. Great, asked how much and was told $15 for half a day and $30 for a full day. Sounds good, what do you need from me? I was asked to send over a record of Rileys shots and could bring her in Saturday. Was kind of surprised there was nothing else, so I asked if there was a temperament test, anything else required? "Nope, we'll see you Saturday!" Saturday morning after not receiving any sort of confirmation regarding the email I sent with her shot records I called to make sure we were all good to go, "yep you're all set!" I SPECIFICALLY asked again, okay so just $15 for 4 hours, I can bring her in whenever? "Yep!" Arrived to the building on my way to work, was presented with some paper work that I CLEARLY should have read over further, but to my fault was in a hurry and just assumed they were basic "we're not liable if your dog is harmed by another dog" type of stuff. Two young ladies were working the desk that were nice but clearly new and untrained. I asked "so that's it?" "Yep!" A couple hours go by and I receive a call from the hospital. Surprised and scared as I was not expecting a call, she asks how I am and proceeds to go over an extensive list on the exams and procedures that my puppy underwent. To say I was confused would be an understatement. I just brought my dog for a day care? What is all this? The vet was extremely shocked this was not communicated with me, as she should have been. $280 bill. Shots were given that were not verbally communicated. Tests were ran that were not verbally communicated. This is not about the extravagant prices in comparison to other vets, this is about me bringing my puppy for 4 hours of day care, for $15, and unknowingly sending her to a "wellness check" to undergo tests, scans, etc. I immediately called a more knowledgeable pet owner, as I was so shocked, sad, and confused I didn't know what to think. The invasiveness, and inappropriateness of this event was shared amongst everyone. I decided to call and speak to a manager regarding my frustrations. This is where a terrible situation went to an unspeakable, will never forget, situation. The rudeness, the lack of empathy, compassion, understanding, was something I've never experienced from another person, let alone the manager of a vet hospital. Her reasons included new help, a hurricane coming, and of course, my negligence of not reading the paperwork. Not once did the words "sorry" or ANY form of apology get spoken. I will never get over how this place did not find the importance of having a verbal dialogue regarding what my puppy would be going through when all I asked about was brining her to DAYCARE! The manager said these extremely condescending words, "I guess we should have read the paperwork out loud to you." YUP, YOU SHOULD HAVE. She tried to guilt trip me into the things that were found, and I'm lucky she had the exam. Completely unable to understand the real issue of not verbally communicating to me what was in store. None of this even touches on the inconsisties in the medical paperwork, being charged a full day for 3 hours of stay, for keeping her leash and collar and not giving it back, for not even having her correct BIRTHDAY listed. I'm sad, I'm hurt, I'm disgusted. Stay away from here. That's all I can say.

We have been going there for years. They saved my dogs life when he was bit by a rattle snake years ago and they have continued to take good care of both my dogs. When I bring them there they both run in wagging their tails and to me that is a true testament of their care! We use them for vet care, boarding and grooming and I recommend all 3.

Brought my dog because he had fleas. I said I was going to wait while they do the exam (curbside ) then they called me and told me not to wait and they will call me back later with his flea exam results (they said an emergency came up even though I was the only one there ) . Well I knew something was up so I said I will reschedule and they will bring my dog out . Well they came out and and his head is bloody with a big bump and now we are on way to emergency room. This place will steal your money and kill your dog with no remorse. Don’t believe me? Try it out yourself.

The doctor and staff at Emerald Shores Pet Hospital are great. Our golden doodle Kona was experiencing diarrhea and vomiting which was speedily addressed. Kona was her normal playful self within 24 hours of treatment. Thank you ????.

We are on vacation and needed to get our lab some help on short notice. The people here were very kind and the doctor offered a simple solution rather than encouraging us to do unnecessary treatment. I truly appreciated the friendly and honest assistance we received.

This place takes advantage of people of the lack of knowledge in vetting and the fact that their animals can’t speak up about the pain. They get you to sign an estimate of the vetting which is 3 times higher than any other place around, then throughout the treatment they call with more things that aren’t really needed. They know that 9 times out of 10 people don’t know any better to question the treatment and usually in so deep they don’t want to move to another vet once they realize it. A couple of weeks ago I brought in a rescue animal for treatment as an emergency type thing, after a 1500 quote and completely shocked I left and went to another local vet office further away, this is where she explained how much of Emerald Shores bills was not needed, high cost and treatment was too aggressive. They were floored and saddened that this is the norm for them. They felt the same way as I did, this type of business is what hurts more animals in the future. Not to mention at a time when everyone has been out of work due to the pandemic. Seems as they don’t care what it takes to keep the lights on, even if it’s over treating your animal, and holding he or she hostage while going through the treatment. This vet is the reason that people don’t care for their animals like they should. They go to a place like this have one horrible experience and get a bill that sets their whole family back, then the next time the poor animal gets home treatment when they really need professional. This has happen on 4 occasions with me, and 2 other close friends in the community. I have been in the rescue industry for 20 years and it should be a crime to take advantage of people like this. They have a horrible reputation in the area that most people don’t review but please drive a little further or do your research in the area.

Today I called to ask for information regarding euthanizing my dog. My best friend, my girl who I’ve had since 8 wks old-I’ve cared for her and loved her the best I could. Now at 14.5 years old she’s refusing water, she won’t eat, her hair is falling out-she’s leaning on walls. My baby didn’t get to her old age over night, but I assure you she hasn’t suffered-which brings me to why I called this vet. Our vet is currently out of town and it’s Saturday-so in an effort to prevent her from suffering until our vet returns to town on Tuesday, I called to ask about the possibility of doing it today, how much it would cost etc. the insensitive receptionist began to interview me as to what was wrong with her, I answered her 5 initial questions-including whether or not I was a current customer-still unsure as to whether they could fit my my girl in today or not. I explained that I was happy to answer further questions and go over the long list of medications that I administer to her daily as well as the hand feeding I do for her daily if she could just tell me whether or not an appointment today was possible. She curtly explained that they don’t “just put dogs down” there. THANK YOU for being so amazingly sensitive to your pet community and for accusing pet owners of attempting to kill their beloved furry family members. I’ll be talking about this experience and mentioning y’all by name once my heart heals. I talk for living by the way. Shameful behavior. Let’s rewind here....I called this place as a LAST RESORT because my baby is having to be put down (I’m thinking they couldn’t mess that up?) but let me share my very first experience with this vet and reconfirm some of the reviews. They took out all of her teeth after giving an estimate for one. They didn’t call me and tell me, they didn’t show me the teeth-nothing!!! Her sutures looked like they were tied by a 2 year old....I have the estimate , the receipts and the certified mail to PROVE it was at this vet! So Emerald Shores Pet Hospital-you can comment and say you can’t find me in your records and/or deny any or all of this-but I am happy to put a copy of all of that documentation here on Google for everyone to see.

This Pet Hospital saved our little 5 pound Pomeranian, Kalamity Jane! There are no words to describe how great and reliable all of the staff are. They are reasonably priced. If they would not have picked up the phone as we frantically were looking for a nearby vet and seen her with no hesitation, our sweet little angel, only 3.5 years old, would not be with us right now. Emerald Shores Pet Hospital was caring and attentive to our dog the whole time she was there. They gave us detailed updates that explained our dogs conditions and kept us well informed. We went down to Panama City Beach, Florida on a Saturday with Kalamity for a family vacation. Monday morning, we took her to the dog beach at Pier Park. That evening, she began projectile vomiting and shaking. We knew something was not right. We started calling pet hospitals. While other vets would not take her because they were "to full", Emerald Shores in Santa Rosa Beach, Florida said they would see her as soon as we could get there! It was such a miracle to find such caring and trustworthy animal caretakers in our situation. It was about 30 minutes from Panama City. We got there around 5:30 pm that night. Long story short, Kalamity had extreme dehydration and had gotten into a lot of sand at the beach. PSA: DO NOT TAKE YOUR DOG TO THE BEACH!!! The sand had blocked her GI tract which resulted in excessive vomiting and no pooping. After further testing, Kalamity had to get surgery to remove the blockage! We had no idea that sand could be that dangerous. Kalamity received surgery on her stomach by Dr. Sherri Dubuc, DVM. She worked extended hours and did a great job making sure Kalamity was well taken care of! The surgery was a success and they monitored her recovery. All of the staff were an answer to prayers. We got her back on a Friday night and took her home, to Georgia, Saturday morning. She is now recovering and getting stronger everyday! We are so thankful to have our perky Kalamity Jane here with us! Thank you Emerald Shores Pet Hospital Resort and Spaw staff for taking care of our little girl!

I've never received this level of care from any medical organization. The veterinarians are thorough, diligent, compassionate, and truly concerned about the health of their patients. I was kept informed of my pup's condition and demeanor on a daily basis during his hospital stay. I felt confident that the staff left no stone unturned in order to diagnose and treat Cooper. I'm extremely grateful to have discovered ESPH after an experience with my regular vet who was inattentive regarding what turned out to be a very serious problem.

We quit boarding our dogs here because of the constant up charges. Needed to board them again and decided to give them another try. Sorry we did. Almost $500 for two dogs for 4 days!!! Had to have extra shots and tests and exams to “make sure they are healthy enough to stay here”. They could have easily notified me when they received shot records to give me the opportunity to get the additional shots they require from our regular vet but then I wouldn’t get to contribute to the Cadillac payment. Never again. I was in a position where I had no choice but to leave them. There wasn’t time to find a new place and I had to leave town in emergency. I’m not the only one who feels this way. Read the rest of the reviews and make your own decision.

I brought my dog here to be boarded for three nights because my vet was booked. I was told over the phone it would be 45 a night and they confirmed with my vet that the only thing my dog needed was a fecal. On my way out of town I took my dog there to be boarded and the paper work said that he also needed an influenza vaccination and a wellness check. I questioned the need for the wellness check, and was told it was because they needed to do a wellness check to give him a vaccination. I don't even need a wellness check to get a flu shot. So instead of my bill being 150 it was now 250. I had no other choice so I left him there. When I returned to pick him up there was another added charge of $15 because he was not neutered. Basically I paid $100 a night for my dog to be boarded. I am not happy with the lack of communication, and all the added charges.

The good doctor here truly treated our 13 year old St. Bernard pup as her own. She was immediately knowledgeable about the situation and severity. She knew exactly what was going on, and was very honest and direct with us about where things stood. The thing that meant the most was that when we had to leave her over night, and we all knew that everyone had done everything they could, the vet stayed with her and called us as soon as it happened. Not being able to take her home was very hard, but it is a huge comfort knowing that she was with someone who was trying to do everything possible to keep her going. I will happily return here in the future when our next dog has their life on the line.
