Needed a vet for an older dog w/ear problem. Averill really came thru! Called & texted to make sure my pup was feeling better. Will 100% make them my regular vet after this experience!

I went to this vet on 11/5/21 as my 3 y/o male cat was exhibiting signs of FLUTD. After a $300 visit where he was prescribed an antibiotic and sent home, his urethra fully blocked 24 hours later and I had to rush him to the emergency vet. The emergency vet explained my cat had been treated for a UTI (which apparently occurs in <1% of young, male cats with those symptoms) instead of FLUTD and that the vet should give me a credit for incorrect treatment. Not this vet. I had a hell of a time even getting them to return my call on Monday to get a script for prescription food. An all-around bad experience that's reinforced my mistrust of vets in claiming they want the best for the pets they treat instead of just the cash from their owners.

Averill Animal Hospital has cared for our pets for 15+ years. I trust Matthew Nelson implicitly with the health and well-being of my pets. The staff is attentive and respectful. I couldn’t ask for more from a vet.

Hands down the best veterinarian clinic in Atlanta. They have always been extremely helpful, professional, and provided exceptional service.

I just adopted a dog from the shelter and the staff at Averill has helped me through the health issues we’re dealing with. I just wish I could go in with my dog so that I could ask questions as the exam is taking place. The dr does call after the exam, but I would feel better being there. (I realize this policy is due to COVID).

The staff at Averill always treats my concerns with priority and care. Dr.Nelson takes time to give you the information you need to make the best decisions for our fur baby’s health

We've been to 3 vets with various (sometimes the same) issues. Averill is the only place that put 2 vets on the job to determine what the source issue was and not just treat the recurring symptoms. So grateful to know that these vets looked at the WHOLE picture and not just the one symptom we brought our kitten in for. Yes, the initial vet techs did make me feel a bit rushed when going over all the symptoms. But when I received a call from the Dr. later that same day I did see that they had in fact captured everything I had said. Tests were required - of course - no doctor is psychic and we shouldn't expect them to be. I'm happy to get as much confirmation as we can. Their care and attention to the WHOLE animal saved us hundreds and hundreds in what we be return visits - not to mention catching his source infection early. If not for Averill his infection would no doubt have overtaken what a vet could do for our little guy in future. So grateful for good thorough doctors who really see my pet.

My seven year old terrier mix (Izzy) has separation anxiety. The staff at Averill handle her perfectly. During her first visit the assistant sat on the floor to help Izzy calm down and gain her trust. When Dr. Baker arrived Izzy had stop shaking. I came here through a referral then realized Dr. Baker was the same Vet Izzy had 5 years ago. Izzy anxiety was always less with Dr Baker. Glad to find a place with great staff.

We have been going to Averill’s for 12 years and everyone has always been kind and helpful. Jimmie and Jennifer are truly wonderful with our dogs and the Docs are very knowledgeable and conservative in their care. Our dogs are excited to go to the vet and literally drag us into the building. Whenever we have had to board them for any extended period I am confident that they are being well taken care of.

I am thrilled that I found Averill. I left my other vet and brought all 3 of my dogs to see Dr. Nelson. We could not be more pleased. We love Averill and literally every staff member that we have encountered has been a delight. Great job Averill!!!

I have tried to raise a concern about one of our pups for several years now. The doctors are not listening to us, the vet techs only listen with a half an ear. Constant answers and recommendations for more testing. That's all this vet clinic does, pull more money out without any resolution. I have no other choice than to transfer all of my animals under someone else's care. I want to say that Banfield Pet Hospital is better than this vet. I have tried to ask for the pets to see Dr Nelson. I got stock with someone else again. How good is the clinic where there is only one good doctor? Julie Lugo

I’ve been taking both my current dog (Westie Bella 15 yrs old ) as well as my previous dog (Dalmatian Abby 14yrs old when passed) to Averill Animal Hospital since the early 90’s. I’ve always been pleased with the service, professionalism and knowledge they provided. As well as attention to detail they have always given me. Dr Averill himself. As well as Dr Nelson for years. And assistant Jimmy. It’s only been recent (last 2 yrs) that I’ve had to visit other clinics because of the distance I have to travel to get to them now. Moved further away.

I had an appointment on the 27 of July with this vet that I had used for years. When I got there I found out that the vet services had been sold to your company. The new vet tech that came in decided what all my new dog would need. Among this was to be a fecal that had been done by a different vet along with a deworming just 3 weeks prior. He didn't ask me, and if I didn't see and protest this it would have cost me an extra $ 87.oo. I also told the tech that we were having some skin issues and that I wanted a medicated shampoo wich he ignored. When the vet came in he was good and we talked about a few things. I really did not like the tech. Today I had a 3:00 appointment for follow up shots. I did not get an appointment reminder as in the past, and the tech came out to take my dog in. I could not go in as at some point this office decided to only do curb side service with out any for warning. I do not ever turn my dog over to someone I don't know . Needless to say I did not keep this appointment. So far I am, to say the least, not impressed with the new establishment. This was an office and vet that I use to like.

We love Averill, we’ve used many vets over 15 years and these guys know their stuff! They where the only ones to figure out my boxers mystery diagnosis with her neck. They do a phenomenal job listening and providing upstanding care. We have two boxers And these guys make us feel comfortable knowing they are in the Best Hands.
