We couldn't be more pleased with BBCR ! They know their stuff ! After 9 years of waiting for the right dog, God lead us to Big Bones where we found our little guy ! We didn't want a dog until our oldest son started praying everyday for one, then the others tagged along in prayer for a dog. After a search of local adoptable dogs online we found BBCR. I still wasn't feeling right about a dog, but God started changing my heart. After I began reading on BBCR website the stories behind the adoptable dogs and the process of having one, I realized dogs can be big fat blessings :) So here we are today in love with our dog. Shadow is above and beyond anything we couldn't wanted! Our experience with the process went perfect! Each dog we applied for the volunteer would promptly respond in a day! They would set up a meeting immediately for us to meet the dogs. The team at BBCR made us feel very comfortable, and were all very hospitable welcoming our family into their homes. They took the time to answer questions, to pass down their wisdom, and to work patiently with us. We met several dogs, but the second we met Shadow we knew he was going to be the newest addition to our family :) We drove home in love that night in total agreement that he was the on for us. That night I finished our contract, paid for him, and sealed the deal! We feel complete as a family. Thank you BBCR! We are so grateful !

We were trying to go thru another rescue but it was taking forever over two weeks just to get a visit with a puppy, but I filled out an application for a puppy on Friday evening had an answer on Saturday morning, had a visit with a puppy on Monday, the foster mother got get spay moved up to that week and by Friday we were able to go get her and bring her home. The only reason we were not able to bring her home that day was she did not get spayed yet but other wise we would have had her in three days not over two weeks and then maybe because at the other rescue they were very slow and lazy about getting back to me. When you want to give a dog a home you want to do it fast not slow Big Bones has this in mind and they are very very fast and care about the dogs and the adoptees

We got our sweet boy G here in 2017. They worked with us and gave me resources to help with a couple behavior issues in the beginning. He truly was our baby and the sweetest dog in the world. They really care about finding the right fit for everyone. I hope that we get all future dogs from them. G had a spoiled and great life with us before he passed from lymphoma. I recommend this rescue to everyone.

Applied for the adoption process last Thursday 11/04/21. Went through the home check and applied for multiple dogs as we are looking for one to raise with our kids. 1 volunteer contacted us about 30 minutes after we showed interest. The other 5 dogs we applied for never contacted us. On 11/11/21 we contacted the rescue as our application still had not been approved. When calling someone would answer and hang up the phone. We eventually got a text asking for text communication. We asked about our application. There was no reply but 30 minutes later we received email our application was denied. There was no reason for the denial. We own our house and have 2 fenced in yards. 1 is 4 foot chain link and the other is 6 foot privacy. We do have another dog that does great with puppies and takes them in as her own. The fact that there is no communication from this rescue is a joke. We will take our money elsewhere and adopt from someone who knows how or has time to communicate.

Late review, but we love Big Bones! We were able to adopt a lovely girl from this rescue. They were very responsive, kind, and reasonable. We really appreciated that they worked with us considering we lived in an apartment (some rescues make it very hard). We were able adopt our dog a couple days after meeting! We’re 6 weeks into our adoption and couldn’t be happier. Thank you, Big Bones!

I had the most wonderful experience with Big Bones, they were patient kind and authentic throughout the application and adoption process, and I couldn’t be happier with my sweet little bones Loki. Eternally grateful!

Sometimes tough to communicate because of the fact that it's an all volunteer organization, but overall, they have a great selection of dogs, a great foster program and very friendly and helpful volunteers.

Love this site. They are quick and responsive. Some rescues you apply or inquire and you never hear back. I know sometimes there are just too many inquiries to respond to them all, but I really appreciate the effort this rescue makes to be responsive!

We just adopted our dog over the weekend, and he is amazing and perfect for our family. Everyone we dealt with at Big Bones was professional, caring, and really wanted to help us find the perfect dog. They were attentive to our needs as well as the dogs, and they communicated with us each step of the process. Will definitely contact Big Bones again when we get another dog. Thank you Big Bones Canine Rescue for all you do do for these dogs, and their human families.

I adopted Mina today & she is STUNNING! I spent quite a bit of time texting with her foster mom prior to our meet, & am so grateful for her transparency in expectations. We are thrilled to have added Mina to our family. The adoption process is thorough & everyone I have talked to was a volunteer. I highly recommend this rescue!

One Star is too much! Zero response by anyone owner, adoption team, or fosters. A dog that was up for adoption for over a week. When you do get approved n everything check's out. Foster mother makes unprofessional decision with no information to back it up. Was said that I was not the ideal choice because of training or whatever it was. Probably should have foster homes contact and communicate potential adopters before making blind decisions. I did rescue a dog from people that we're really trying to find rescues homes and I did spend 1500$ on the training and about 1000$ on toys and what not that I would have gone to the one I wanted to save but instead I was belittled. Doesn't really matter because I told everyone that i know of there horrendous business! PLEASE ANYONE LOOKING TO ADOPT GO ANYWHERE ELSE DO NOT GET YOUR HOPES UP! and if you really see your new family member make the attempt and I hope you have better luck dealing with the unprofessionalism! GOOD LUCK ????

I adopted a sweet black lab mix who is visually impaired. He is a sweetie. The whole experience was professional and honest. I look forward to many happy years with my new friend.

After taking in a stray dog that the shelter said had no chip and needed a home, I ended up being unable to keep him. I had never be on this side of rehoming an animal before, and I was very nervous, but after checking various sites and rescues, Big Bones took the dog and found him the most perfect home right away. They kept me updated throughout the process and put my mind at ease. I will forever be grateful for what they did for us!

Mostly positive. Sheldon's demeanor and behavior are as described by his Foster with one exception. He is incontinent all the time!! The Foster had a fenced yard that Sheldon had access to with 2 other dogs. While we were meeting Sheldon, the dogs were let in and out at will. I explained that I do not have a fenced area and was prepared to work to get him on a schedule that works for both of us if needs be. Well, Sheldon just does not have the bladder or bowel control and will urinate in the house after he urinated outside. He does not indicate that he needs to go out. I did not receive his full health records until a week after I had him, although I did have copies of his records from out of state. I took him to the vet that was recommended. I was told the medication that he was on was relaxing his reflexes too much. The medication for bladder control that was suggested to try was nixed by the vet as inappropriate. He now takes just pain meds for his severe arthritis. He continues to urinate in the house. The vet suggested I crate train him. This is not possible as he has a history of becoming overly anxious when confined anywhere. He chewed the doorjamb in my bedroom when kept there for 15 minutes when introducing our resident dog to him. She then suggested house-training him. I highly suspect he was never a housedog and was only allowed inside for short periods of time! He's a larger breed and 11 years old! That I was led to believe that he only had a bladder problem at night if he had water in the evening is an omission of vital information! The dog is a complete sweetheart but MUCH MORE needy and time consuming than indicated. I will lose my adoption fee if I turn him back to BBCR and I fear that he would not be adopted out to someone with a yard which is a vital prerequisite for him. I have had him less than 2 weeks and have spent over $100 in fees and meds above and beyond the adoption fee. I fear I will be paying to have him put down before the summer is over. This saddens me and seems so unnecessary to put us both through this. Very irresponsible of Big Bones Canine Recue.

Big Bones is incredibly organized considering it is 100% volunteer run. It makes sense though because who else besides volunteers would work 24/7? I’m grateful to be a foster and volunteer. Not only is their mission to save dogs something I can get behind, but the other volunteers I have come in contact with (virtually and in person) are so wonderful the whole Big Bones community is what I give 5 stars.

We are so very happy with the entire adoption experience through Big Bones Rescue! Roxanne our pups foster Mom, was absolutely fantastic!! She was incredibly friendly, thorough and responsive through all of our communication. She guided us through the entire process and in a timely manner. Everything came together so nicely to adopt our forever pup Denzel. We couldn't be more in love! A sincere thank you to Roxanne and everyone at BBCR that made this possible! We highly recommend BBCR and will continue to support this rescue in every way we can.

My family has adopted 4 dogs from here. They are an amazing rescue with really nice volunteers. You should adopt from here if you live near Colorado.

What a great and caring organization. They really want to take the time to make sure that all dog and owners are the right match for each other. Jane the owner is a genuine and caring person that wants everyone to have a pleasant and enjoyable experience with the dogs.

We have been lucky enough to adopt two furry family members from Big Bones! They were awesome to work with both times. They helped us pick the perfect dogs for our pack/family. Both foster homes our dogs came from were wonderful. The foster parents were supportive and helpful and the dogs were already socialized when we brought them home, which makes things so much easier. We had recently lost an older dog when we adopted our recent puppy and everyone at them rescue was understanding and supportive. The home visit was thorough and so was the application process. We really appreciate this because we know that Big Bones takes the time to make sure their dogs are adopted out to the right homes! Thank you for all that you do!!!
