They were not willing to sell me "over the counter" medication to help both of my kitties with worms. They would for the one I brought in and spent $40 for them to see she was breathing before a spayed surgery, why it wasn't all in one visit $hows you a truth. Now I'm just trying to help my sick rescued cats I never wanted and they only will help if I spend more money there? It's sad. Why would it matter when I can buy it over the counter? Unfortunately, there isn't any in this small town so I'll order it (far cheaper) Done with this place. Thank you for the compassion Companion, you really care$ 2 stars because they were amazing with my female for the spaying.

Been with Companion for about 20 years now. I have had nothing but great experience. They have been caring and understanding. They have been there when it was time to say our goodbyes and we will be continuing taking our fur babies there. Thank you Companion for all that you do and have continued to do.

TL;DR: FANTASTIC care! Wonderful people! 10/10 recommend ! Long Version: I’ve been coming to Dr Chaffin at Companion for almost 17 years with my cats (and occasionally a rat), and I can honestly say I’ve never had a vet that was so personable, smart, well-researched, up to date, and genuinely caring. Dr Chaffin helped me with an insulin-dependent cat who lived to be over 18 after being diabetic for 12 years. During that time, he (my cat, not Dr Chaffin) needed multiple changes in type and dosage of insulin, and his other medical care was more complex because of his diabetes. It says a lot about Dr Chaffin’s care of my cat over those 12 years that he (my cat) lived a very long and very happy life. Dr Chaffin has also had the sad honor of helping several of my beloved pets out of this world, and the process was as gentle as it could possibly be in these circumstances. I really appreciated the separate exit from “the sad room” so that I didn’t have to go back through the main waiting area after. (Wow! What a thoughtful, caring little touch that I’ve never seen in a vet’s office before!) I feel like my pets get very comprehensive care at Companion, that their facilities and equipment are very modern and clean, and that the people who work there are all just super friendly. I rarely say this about any business, but it honestly seems like a family there. I love that the same people have worked there so long - they’ve known all my pets, they’ve watched my daughter grow up, it just feels warm and fuzzy. Hear hear for Dr Chaffin! He’s got some other vets working there now too, but I don’t know them as well. I’m sure if Dr Chaffin selected them, they’re excellent. Highly recommend!

Due to a family emergency, I needed my dog boarded overnight. I came in without calling ahead (although I probably should have) and they were able and willing to accommodate me. I was a week or two overdue for a few things like flea treatment and parasite test and they made it work by having my dog spend the first night in "isolation" until flea preventative was applied and parasite results came back negative. I'm incredibly appreciative of their help and care for me and my pup.

I have had multiple family members use this facility for their dogs. One used them for years, the other only about the past year and then the last family member just once. All who have stopped going due to the reaction of the same receptionist they had spoken with over the phone. When asking questions she is very short and rude to responding with their questions and rudely asking "well aren't you going to pay". They have always paid up front, but no need to ask rudely and speaking to them rude prior. We care about how our animals are treated but the owners can be treated with respect also. I understand having bad days, but this seems to be a pattern to me.

The folks at Camp Companion were so caring and wonderful to our family during a really difficult time. They treated our doggo with the utmost care and compassion. Our own vet couldn’t be bothered to fit us in as our old doggo was dying but CC did and made the whole things so much more bearable. Thank you!!

I have called in for family to make appointments for their pets numerous times and the receptionist, Rachel, is always insanely rude! Which is why my parents don't make the appointments anymore. A receptionist is the "face" of the company as it sets a tone for the type of service you will be obtaining and Rachel, she ain't it. I mean who calls someone a vulgar name under their breathe when they are just simply trying to schedule an appointment? Not to mention the scoffing, sighing, and placing on mute. Just rude. Makes my family not want to use Companion's services anymore. Please keep in mind, this is on more than one occasion. Next time, I will treat her as she treats me and we will take our business elsewhere.

Dr. Ken is the only vet I trust with my fur babies. He connects with them and explains everything he's doing or thinking so that we understand. I wouldn't go to anyone else!

I have been taking my cats and dog to this vet for two years now and have always received the best care. The staff is friendly and knowledgeable and seem to care greatly about my animals. They are often able to fit in appointments same day or very last minute which helps put my mind at ease that my animals are getting timely care. I would definitely recommend this vet to a friend!

I’ve waited two weeks to post this, to allow myself to reign in my emotions. But I still today believe some sensitivity training for the staff could go a long way. After 12 loyal years of our sweet border collie by our side, and 12 loyal …

My poor dog had bloody diarrhea on New Years Eve. Every place was booked including CACC, but they fit us in and got him the meds he needed before the holiday break. Very thankful they were accommodating and willing to answer all of my questions! He is already feeling a lot better!

I've been bringing my pets to Dr Chaffin as far back as whenhe was still on Mankato Ave, since 1 1994. Dr Chaffin, Dr Binner, the vet techs, and everyone else that takes such good care of my 4-legged furry family members, we'll never go anywhere else. The care and compassion encompasses animal and owners alike, no matter if it's vaccinations, spay/neuter, dental, injuries, or end-of-life.

They have backed out of helping provide after hours care for animals in the Winona area, jeopardizing having any after hours care available in our area.
