Staff do not communicate with other staff members nor remember your pet and basically everything they do is way over what any other place would charge with way less customer service and they will re-charge you and initial check-up fee for …

They were able to “get us in right away” and by the end of it all we were still there two and a half hours later with more request of things to do that we ended up declining. The communication was not well given, financials are the major …

We took our rats here bcuz they claim they specialize in exotic pets. Our rats had somehow gotten lice which brought out an underlying condition in Louise where her organs began shutting down. I only know this bcuz we took her and her sister Thelma to our regular vet the next day, who doesn't normally see exotic animals but made an exception bcuz we already go there for our cats. All VCA did was give her oxygen and then told us she was fine and sent us on our way with $200 bill for essentially doing nothing.

I have been dealing with this facility for several years now. My elderly cat is diabetic, so he needs daily insulin injections. I have been completely satisfied with the care he has received when at the Center and have been so pleased that he has a safe and highly competent place to stay when necessary. I would recommend this facility to anyone who needs special care for their pet.

As if the experience of having to make a decision on a sick pet wasn't bad enough, having staff that is incompassionate and unfriendly doesn't help. VERY disappointed!

We brought our bunny in on 12/17/21 after finding her acting out of character (and clearly in pain). The vet was very compassionate and caring. She took great care of our bunny and made sure to keep her calm and in a dark, quiet, stress-free environment to assess her. After assessing her, she did not find any major problems. She offered X-rays and ultrasound but also said they were most likely not necessary due to the positive way our bunny was acting. After all was said and done, we were able to pick our bunny up two hours later, and the total cost for care and medicine was $160. The vet asked that we call her if anything changed or if we had any concerns. Our bunny is back to her happy, healthy self! After seven pets, this was our first trip to an animal ER so we didn’t know what to expect. I’m so happy with everything. We will definitely recommend to our friends!

It's always hard making end of life decisions for your pet but Dr. Grecko at VCA was very professional and compassionate. I was able to drop my dog off and get a call within 90 minutes. The other ER vets in the area kept me waiting 3+ hours a few weeks ago. Like all other places, there is a labor shortage so each vet ER can only do so much. I just want to thank Dr. Grecko for being so kind and straight forward when giving me my options for my sick dog. I had to say goodbye to my baby girl but Dr. Grecko made this extremely difficult decision easier. Thank you.

Completely incorrectly read my rabbit's x-ray. Paid $700 in fees for the x-ray and medications I absolutely did not need, only to be called a week later with complete opposite results. Incompetent, rude, and bad service. Do not go here.

About 2 weeks ago we brought our guinea pig Ivan in because he had stopped eating. He required a hospital stay and surgery. The doctors and staff were so good to him and helpful to us, both during his stay and after his release. I'm happy to share that he's improving each day. Tonight he enjoyed a bit of exercise and the veggie plate that came afterwards. Thank you again! We highly recommend the VCA.

Please do not take your birds here. Wait for the actually avian vet. We brought in our young parakeet who had been very lethargic. They kept him for hours and we heard nothing. When I finally called in the person I spoke to told me they didn't notice anything wrong but they really weren't qualified and had too many other pets to attend to. Four days later, our little Misty died. Our whole family was heartbroken. I would never recommend them to anyone. - NOTE: I did contact the management as suggested in the response and they were understanding and professional. Obviously, nothing can bring back our pet bird, but there definitely is a desire by this company to make things right in whatever way they can. This is why I changed my star rating from 1 to 3.

It is almost November of 2021, there are no longer any National, statewide or local Covid mandates and I am fully vaccinated. However VCA would like to continue to make you jump through hoops with curbside service, totally eliminating the need for personal customer service or one on one consultation with the veterinarian. IF IT IS NOT AN EMERGENCY, I highly recommend you find a real vet. Who can be kind to people as well as animals. I normally am not a person who cares enough to leave a review, but seeing that during the appointment setting and the confirmation of my appointment no one bothered to inform me of their outdated policies so that I could choose another vet and not waste time off of work. I will NOT be returning.

A few months back we had our sweet boy, Jameson, admitted for what ended up being a case of gi stasis. He stayed 2 nights and was returned to us fully recovered. I just wanted to take a min to thank the staff that cared for our bun. They were great at communicating updates and did what they could to help him recover. I think we would of had a very different outcome with out their dedication. I am happy to report, Jameson is doing great!

The only place that can see my exotics whenever there is an emergency! I have been coming here for the last several years and my pets have received great treatment here, and if you are a small pet owner you should know how quickly they can fall ill. YES the wait times are long; you have no idea what cases came in before you. YES it is expensive, but our pets are family. I’ve had to make the decision euthanize two of my rabbits here and received so much compassion from the staff, they even mailed me a sympathy card after. I wish I could show my appreciation in more ways than this review for MECA! They are an amazing group of people who deal with so much pressure and the worst things every day so they should be treated with more understanding.

AMAZING STAFF. Always tried their best to get the animals in and out as soon as they could. The Dr. Was just so caring and helpful, so much wisdom and advice. I was blown away by everything when I unfortunately had to take my furbaby there. I would recommend this place for ALL your pets emergencies.

Don't waste your time going here when your poor amimal is having an emergency! Drove 30 miles to this place because our Vet has them listed for after hrs emergency. Was told when we got there that we couldn't be seen! This is an 24/7 emergency vet clinic! Yet they don't see animals unless you schedule your emergency in advanced.

I took my 7mo old puppy here because she ingested bleach water. At first they were nice and started to care for her...until the Vet (Dr Crooks) told me that they would need $2000 down payment before she could save my puppy's life. I'm in financial hardship and couldn't pay this, so they turned her away from the critical life-saving care she needs. I'm so heartbroken and angry at the fact that money paid immediately, is more important than saving an animal's life! This sickens me...and my poor puppy suffers as I am now scrambling to find a Vet to help me save her. She deserves to live...and shouldn't have to suffer because I'm considered as "low-income". Please if anyone can help...I'm begging...for my puppy to be saved. **UPDATE 4:11am....Sindel, my puppy...has passed away in my arms** I DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS PLACE FOR ANYONE'S FUR BABIES. These people don't care about the pets lives....only the money they can squeeze out of you!

I want to preface this by saying I didn’t want to have to leave a review like this, nor does any pet parent. I took my axolotl, Booboo to see doctor Richter because she had been unable to eat for a week. No one in the Milwaukee are that I had reached out to in the last four days was even willing to give her a check up. That being said, Dr Richter and his staff were absolutely phenomenal. Communication was perfect and I understood what was going to happen to Booboo every step of the way. Unfortunately, a few hours ago she had to be euthanized, but thanks to the staff members at this clinic, I know she was treated with care and love up until her last moments. I would recommend their care to absolutely anyone. I am truly blessed to have found this clinic, and I know that my best friend is sleeping comfortably thanks to these doctors.

We just lost our beloved bunny Ruby yesterday after a short stay with MECA. While we are devastated, we know they did everything they could for her. My one critique would be that I think her prognosis was never all that positive considering she passed within 7 hours of being admitted. If we had known the extent of her condition at the outset, we would have elected for a more outpatient palliative care course of treatment so she could have left us at home. It pains me to think that she was without her bonded partner or her parents in her last moments. When we chose for her to stay as an inpatient, we believed there was a positive outcome and likely recovery. This decision was inline with the advice from the vet and made in consultation with her. Again, I do not think they did anything wrong, only in hindsight with some more information, we might have chosen a different course of action. They were very compassionate and called us to tell us Ruby was not doing well and to come in. They made accommodations, even with Covid, for us to come inside. We were just a few moments too late. They took our impromptu phone calls and provided us updates as requested. To go back in time, we would have still taken Ruby in. To any Rabbit parents, feel safe with these professionals. I would give anything for the outcome to have been different, but life doesn't bend to our will. These people at VCA work in a very difficult job. They are getting people's pets in the worst circumstances, and more often than not I imagine things turn out bad. You have to be a Saint to work here. I know they read these reviews and our family is still struggling with this, we do not fault them in any way for Ruby crossing over. I only ask to please keep in mind that to many of us, these pets are our family, and just like family, we'd like them to be surrounded by their loved ones at the end.

Im very disappointed with this place. Just went there today with my gosling who i think has a dislocated leg. You can clearly feel that the leg is not right and they wanted to do xrays and they said they still might not be able to do anything after the xrays. I said no. I sat and waited for two hours while my 2 month old gosling was inside. After they called me and said they wanted to do xrays, they had me come up and pay the $110 for basically nothing. I paid and the lady told me someone would bring my goose out soon. We sat outside for yet another 45min. I called again and said how long it will be and apparently the doctor had an emergency come in and couldnt bring him out back to me so i could leave. The doctor is not the one who brought out my goose. The receptionist told me that the discharge will be emailed to me and i have yet to receive an email. If i do not get a discharge email i definitely will be calling. My question now is, what were they actually doing with him those whole two hours? Did they even take a look at him? Im out $110 for letting this vet “examine” my goose and couldnt even give me an idea of what is wrong with his leg. Also after the lady brought him out to me, the poor thing was shaking so bad and he has never shaked like that before. Im now worried because i wasnt able to go inside with him and be there and ask the doctor questions. Moral of the story, i am very disappointed in this clinic. I would definitely not recommend anyone here.

PLEASE READ! I have had 3 maine coons for many years and consider them my family. If I could I would give VCA Milwaukee 0 stars as I now only have 2 cats. I had to put Bucky down due to cancer spreading fast. It wasn’t until Buck was too sick did we hear back about the labs. We were supposed to be informed about the results within 3-5 days. After 10 days passed I finally called to see what the results were because he was at another clinic getting evaluated. Their response was “we forgot to call you and send them in.” At that point the sample couldn’t be rerun as it was no good after 10 days. Not to mention It cost $1200 for them and the staff were very unsympathetic and to me just one of those “revolving door” type of places. When I showed up at the clinic I was hysterical as my cat was foaming at the mouth and couldn’t breathe. The lady was very unsympathetic and appeared to be annoyed. Their excuse for forgetting the labs is that they are understaffed and can’t give every pet their 100% attention all the time. This is the icing on the cake: a consent form has to be signed before performing any procedure which is understandable but according to another vet; pets are personal property, not family. Suing them would be pointless. You would maybe get $200 which is enough to buy a new one. Attached is a photo of Buck and I not long before he passed. If you consider your pets part of the family and not property; do NOT come here. Check out Lakeshore before coming here

When I called I was treated as if I wasn't wanted there. We arrived a bit after 7, at 9 I was told she was 4th in line. I called at 11:55 she had one ahead of us. I realized how ridiculous it was that no one informed us as to what was happening. We were there for over 6 hours. No apologies nothing. Do not take your fur baby here. She looked scared and ready to go.

Our 15 month old bunny had an accident and we rushed him over. The dr and front desk worked fast to try and save him. Unfortunately our bunny didn’t make it. The staff was so kind and caring. They even sent me a hand written hard to my house. Really love this place, just hope I don’t have to come back but I know if I do, they’ll take care of my animals

The other day our beagle got her paw wedge between the sofa cushions. As she pulled herself loose one of her claws got caught on the fabric, ripping her nail at the quick. Lots of blood and crying. We took her immediately to this location. They were very quick and professional in getting to our baby for care. Once finished I received a call from the vet letting me know that they had to clip the nail off, bandage the paw and place her in an E-collar. Antibiotics were prescribed and away we went back home. We couldn’t have asked for better service than we got. The next day I received an email from our personal vet letting me know that they had received a copy of the report from VCA in order to update their records. Couldn’t have asked for more. Our beagle is nearly back to 100% with no more bandage and trial runs without the collar.. Thanks for the great service.

LOVE THIS PLACE.... very expensive but what emergency vet isn't? Staff is amazing with my tiny chihuahua.....receptionists are always friendly and appreciate the detailed and thorough information that the veterinarians provide me....many regular vet offices take weeks to get an appointment...worth paying for peace of mind.....

Our dog injured her paw and was not putting any pressure on it. We called our normal vet and they could not get her in and they told us to take her to meca. I understand that it is an er and patients will go by need of service. Now we get there at 330 and was told our dog wouldn’t be seen for an hour, once again I get it it’s an er so I was happy to wait. Three hours go by and I get a phone call saying that my dog still has not been seen and it would be at least another hour because of change of shifts and rounds. Oh by the way I was in the parking lot this whole time and no one else came in during this whole wait. It’s is now 730 and we have to call to get an update and they still have not seen her. We went and picked up our dog up and we called to let them know we were their and they hung up on my wife a male tech came out and told us thing where f—led up back there (real professional) and were told there was only one vet on staff…. Really one vet for a so called ER. This place is a joke and will never take a pet here again. Stay clear of this place. If you are the owner and reading this do not respond giving me a bs answer like you have with all the other negative reviews.
