I have a Black Lab. Due to Covid we were unable to get her into classes until she was a year old! We found everyone we worked with to be absolutely fantastic! And Ruby responded so well to every class. I highly recommend Hope and her whole team!

So we have a complicated pup...she’s part beagle, part pug, and part lab. Hope has worked absolute WONDERS with Starla! She went from being a complete nut to completely trusting me and my partner in the 12 weeks we worked with Hope. Starla trusts Hope implicitly, and even though we had Zoom trainings due to COVID, she learned so much and trusted Hope through the computer camera. Anyone I’ve met that works with Hope has the same experience: she’s the dog whisperer of Roanoke, VA, and can turn any dog into a listening dog in just a few weeks. Highly recommend High Hopes to anyone with a pup!!

We adopted our chocolate lab when she was 2 1/2 years old. She had little to no training and very little socialization prior to our adopting her. I brought her to the beginners group classes of High Hopes Dog Training and then after graduating I enrolled her in the intermediate classes. These were a life changer for both my dog and myself. I loved the concept that were were taught, positive reinforcement, and my dog was so enthusiastic to learn that I was amazed at the transformation and progress we both made! Hope is the absolute best dog trainer in that she communicates so well for both your dog and yourself, making us both feel comfortable and welcome. It’s refreshing to witness and so encouraging to see dogs that have had little to no training, frightened, nervous, anxious etc. finish their classes with confidence, a smile and tails wagging! I would highly recommend High Hopes for anyone, regardless of their canine companions stage in training. There you’ll see Hope ( and Candace) work to ensure positive outcomes for both you and your beloved dog. Paul ( and my constant companion Penny) ????

We have so enjoyed the classes we've taken from Hope. She's a wonderful trainer, and the skills we've learned are practical and useful in everyday situations. She emphasizes positive reinforcement, which makes the classes a pleasure for humans and dogs alike. :)

We just finished the Beginner Obedience class with Hope for our shelter rescue. When we first adopted our pup, she was skittish, reactive to strangers (especially men) and very cautious. However in six weeks of Zoom lessons, Hope helped us build our dog's confidence and its been a complete change in her well-being. She knows sit, down, stand, look, and wait and is so much better walking on a leash than she was before the class. She also is much more comfortable with my husband and meeting new people. Hope and her team are amazing and we can't wait to continue training in the Intermediate class!

Our family went through Puppy Kindergarten with our new puppy named Shadow. We weren’t sure what to expect with a Zoom dog training class but Hope has perfected it. She taught us proper techniques and gave good practical advice for how to raise a puppy. We look forward to moving into the beginner class next. Thank you Hope!

We enrolled our dog Huey in 3 classes. Each class was a great experience for Huey and his pet parents. We intend to enroll in a 4th class in the future. The courses are a great value and Hope is an amazing teacher. She is willing to reach out to participants outside of class time and is very responsive to our needs. Thank you Hope and staff.

Hope is an amazing dog trainer! We have taken two 6-week training courses Online and it was such a beneficial and positive experience. We have a Much more well behaved and trained dog now who loves to learn and listen. We couldn’t be happier with Hope’s services ! About a year ego we adopted a 2 year old GS with a severe separation anxiety. We also got an 8 week old GS puppy. I admit there were moments when I thought I was not fit for the task! Hope came …

Hope has been helping our family with two very energetic, intelligent, and leash-reactive dogs. She provides great in-home training that is truly tailored to the things that you want to focus on with your pets. She clearly understands our animals and gives us specific techniques to work with them, complete with practical "homework" to do before the next lesson. This definitely keeps us accountable. One of the most valuable things about having a trainer like Hope work with you is that she can help you see where you can improve communication with your dog, which is not something that you can easily perceive yourself. I'm a very do-it-yourself kind of person and have learned tons from blogs and YouTube, but having Hope right there alongside me to coach me through adjustments I can make while training my dogs is totally invaluable. In addition to private lessons, we have also joined her in her Gobedience class, allowing us to take these skills and apply them in real-world environments. We communicated with Hope beforehand about our concerns regarding our dogs' reactivity, and Hope assured us that we would be able to distance ourselves from the group and go at our own pace, which was exactly what we did. While the dogs were indeed still very reactive, Hope and Candice stopped by to help us with the skills being taught in class as well as provide our dogs with good interactions with strangers, and around other dogs. The dogs were able to calm down by the end of the class, which was a good improvement from where they have been. Gobedience gave us a safe space to train our dogs and work on their reactivity around other dogs and people. Hope was a tremendous advocate for our pets and helped us feel safe and secure while we were working alongside other trainers. We felt that it was a genuinely good experience, and that while our dogs still have a ways to go with regards to reactivity, we all absolutely love Hope and the training that she facilitates with the dogs.

I had the pleasure to work with both Hope and Sandy with my dog, Memphis. Memphis was once a stray from the streets of Memphis, TN that I adopted. Hope and Sandy are incredible teachers, as I learned just as much or even more than Memphis during out training. Memphis has become more confident in himself and has shown amazing improvement in his everyday behaviors and manners. I am so happy I chose High Hopes Dog Training and am blown away by how important and how much the commands (and tricks) I've learned from Hope and Sandy have improved both my everyday life as well as Memphis'.

I have done several classes with both my dogs. I am proud to say they are well behaved wonderful pets because Hope, Candance and Sandy have taught me how to properly train them. They are fun and positive and I highly recommend them.

First and foremost, Hope does a great job. She worked with us over a few sessions with our boxer and jack Russell, and the things she taught us have redefined our relationship with our dogs. That all said, we did a couple sessions with Hope paying as we went. During the last session, we paid for a grouping of sessions up front. During this session, Hope advised that we work with another local doctor to try and better understand some of our boxer's issues. We took her up on the referral, spent some time working with the new doctor, and time got away from us. A year later, we reached out to inquire about a refund or scheduling the remaining appointments. Hope replied with a note indicating that the lessons we prepaid for had expired. We would receive neither the lessons nor a refund. In fairness, we did sign a paper agreeing to these terms during our first interaction with Hope. We simply didn't read the fine print, and we never would've expected that prepaying for services like this would be subject to this kind of policy. Bottom line: Hope does a great job. However, make sure you read and understand her terms before signing anything. Learn from our $365 mistake.

We are finishing up beginner obedience with our boy Reggie. Hope & Candice have led his classes and I've been impressed with all of the dogs in the class improvement over the last 4 sessions. We've already scheduled his intermediate class as well as signed another pet up for training as well. I would definitely recommend.

You can tell that Hope and her assistants, Madeline and Tina, love their job by observing the wonderful rapport that they have with their canine students and handlers. We took the beginner and advanced group classes with our adult rescue dog. Even though it was a group class, Hope recognized any problem areas her students were having and gave each individual attention when needed. She conducts her classes with humor, enthusiasm and lots of knowledge and experience. I would highly recommend High Hopes Dog Training to anyone wanting a well behaved canine member of their family and community.

As pet parents, my husband and I thoroughly enjoyed training classes with High Hopes Dog Training and our pup, Apollo, was always very happy in class. He started with Basic Obedience and worked his way up to a Canine Good Citizen Certification. We are very proud of him for all his has accomplished. We had a very positive experience!

We rescued an incredibly handsome 1+ year old hound mix from the local shelter. When we brought him home, he was wild. My father assumed he had been adopted and returned a few times. He had terrible anxiety, chewed through things, was unwelcoming when we had company over (jumping, clingy-ness, personal space issues), was all around hard to manage, and barked constantly. For Christmas, my parents got me (and Fletch) some dog training sessions with Hope. I loved that she came to our house and could see us all in our regular surroundings. She was so in tune to what we were doing, and not too shy to let me know that Fletch was bossing me around and I was re-enforcing a lot of the behaviors I hated. We had a great intro session, and Fletch was so smart! He loved training and when Hope would come over. We saw a difference instantly and he became much easier to manage with each session. We found that exercising his brain was just as important as exercising his body. Fletcher is a true success story. Though he is by no means the perfect dog I am now more able to recognize how his behaviors, my role in encouraging/discouraging those behaviors, and how to exercise him. Hope was so nice and cared about us and our concerns, but wasn't scared to show us ways in which we could improve to help Fletcher. That is what I really feel made the most difference, and made Hope the best in Roanoke. I would strongly recommend High Hopes to all of my friends and family with new dogs or dogs with concerning behavior.

Had our puppy schooled by Mrs. Hope, and loved it. There was a genuine connection between student and teacher.
