All inclusive bird shop, tons of toys, lots of birds, large macaw parrots to Canary's. They board, groom nails and beaks, and take in rescue birds. Bird central for the community to find out what is happening in the area.

My husband brought me here looking for a bird. I wish he didn’t as you could tell some of the birds had stories and it broke my heart to see them. They were well cared for in the store. What annoyed me was that they clearly have had a bad experience with ppl thinking it is a petting zoo and I feel it has jaded them. They made themselves very unavailable though when there was one particular bird I got a wee bond with. I couldn’t get any assistance. This made me sad as there were two birds I really liked. We have such a beautiful, large home where they would have been spoiled.

Be carful buying a second chance bird from here. You might end up with a bird that someone is looking for. I wanted to be sure a cockatiel that they rescued wasn’t my lost bird. The response was hopeful until they ghosted. They also wouldn’t send a picture which I understand since they don’t want people to falsely claim it but it doesn’t help this struggling bird dad sleep at night.

This store has a wide variety of toys and food/ treats. The staff have been nice and not at all like the bad reviews are saying about them. They were friendly and conversational and were knowledgeable about birds. I haven’t bought a bird from them but I’ve boarded my cockatiel her a couple times and have purchased toys and food. As for cleanliness, it is a bit messy around the bird cages but birds are always messy so this is expected at a store full of birds. Don’t listen to the bad reviews cause the people that wrote them are over dramatic and probably were there while the staff weren’t having good day.

This place needs to be shut down! Extremely rude and unhelpful, they act like they are living here and your an intruder in their house, save yourself the headache and go to Bird Hut in Portland.

Horrific and nasty place. Shame on them for having it so dirty and contaminated. It’s prone to bringing diseases with bugs flying around everywhere. A moderate amount of mess is expected from birds but this was a whole different level. Could barley see inside of the nursery how filthy it was. In addition, the birds seemed disturbed and a lot were shaking. It seemed like they wanted to be social but were fearful. The elder owners were not friendly and did not greet, only the young girl did. They were judgmental, cruel, and gossiping to themselves. Go to Bird Hut, the owner and employees care about their birds and clean often. Plus they are friendly and not judgmental.

Fabulous as always. I board my birds here on the rare occasions that I go out of town. My girls love to interact (through the cage of course) with the other birds.

Wide selection of toys and diy parts at a good price. Very clean store amd well kept happy feathered birds. I got both my parrots trimmed today and will definitely make this my regular go to. Loved the staff here.

Lovely store with nice products. I can get what I need for my finches without going to a large box business. The owner is extremely nice and the birds are cute.

I would not recommend this store to anyone! Little short girl was so extremely rude! I unfortunately lost my little green cheek conure about a few months ago I was looking for a new forever friend. My boyfriend and I traveled from Federal Way just to come here, when we arrived after 10A when they were supposed to be open, they had a sign on the door stating that they are having "technical difficulties" to "call back later". I was at the door reading and saw people inside so I knocked to see if there was a specific time for it's a long drive back home...the elderly lady feeding the birds did not even look at me (I know she heard me AND saw me!) Then a young short girl came to the door, opened it slightly (like we were going to rob the place!) Litterally rolling her eyes as she said they were closed...( no......REALLY????!!!) I DIDN'T KNOW THAT BECAUSE I CAN'T READ!... WHAT A HORRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE AGENT. SOMEONE NEEDS TO FIRE HER QUICK. LOOSING BUISNESS! I just wanted to ask what a good time would be to call back but now there's no way I'm coming back. Great job little girl, treat your customers like they're idiots ???? I hope Parrot Perch puts some serious thought about who they hire. People will only remember how you made them feel. Never will I be back. Never will I recommend. (BIRD HUT) ALL THE WAY - SUCH WONDERFUL STAFF AND OVERALL HAPPY PLACE TO BE!???? PARROT PERCH IS A HORRIBLE PLACE!

I am a 70 year old lady that sadly lost her canary last week and am so sad. I walked into this shop yesterday very hopeful. I have never had such a bazzar experience. Customers waiting at the counter and no one in sight. All of us patiently waiting until one women said she was late for work and left. I stated that I would wait in the other room, giving the clerk that was clearly stressed, all the time she needed to catch up. I was in no hurry and the birds were beautiful. I tried to choose my words carefully to ask questions and to calm clerk. Well in less than a 3 minute conversation, the clerk ask me to leave mocking everything I said and showed me the door. This was strange and unexplicable. I just wanted to buy a bird. I told her to have a good day and quietly left with my head down. I really have been thinking that someone should do a well check on this lady.

I love this store. They always have a good selection of toys and food. My severe stayed with them for a week while I was on vacation, and I expected him to hate it but he had a wonderful time. I love how much he bonded with them. And it makes me so happy whenever I stop by to be greeted by their birds. Highly recommend

Went in to get a good recommendation on food for our cockatiel... Despite 2 employees behind the register, nobody greeted us or anything, they just stared at us and talked to the one other customer. Was walking through the retail space which has a bunch of unwelcoming signs, said something like "this isn't your house and this isn't a zoo". I basically felt like I was a burden for bothering to show up and attempting to shop. I think the teenagers at Petco are much more friendly and inviting. Also, big red flag, I saw a heavily plucked up macaw in the back on the bottom of a feces covered cage. Also, the birds on display had a lot of feces at the bottoms of their cages. So, I wouldn't personally recommend stopping by this shop or boarding a bird their either.

With the exception of COVID-19 limitations, this place always goods and services that we bird people want. They live for birds.

My family bought a baby parakeet from here in September & immediately I noticed it’s tail bobbed a lot, which didn’t happen with our previous parakeet. I looked it up and it said it may mean the bird is sick/having issues breathing. Knowing we spent a few extra bucks by going here where these people handle birds all day and not petco, I thought it would be fine. Our bird(Birdy) passed away this morning after suddenly declining about 24hrs prior. No avian vets had walk ins, and one place even had appointments for urgent care, but not until next month. Birdy was weak 24 hrs prior to passing, tail was crooked & fluffed out, feet were red, couldn’t perch or walk at some points and kept itself to the bottom of the cage in a corner. Birdy got excited when we took he/she out of the cage but then went back to just being quiet/lethargic. This parakeet was only with us for a short time, but was the absolute most sweetest parakeet we have ever had. It broke my heart seeing her laying at the bottom of the cage this morning knowing there’s nothing I could have done. I truly feel like this bird had health issues before we got her. She/he also made weird sounds, almost like clicking noises but we wrote it off as nothing. I don’t care about the $, I just want he/she back. I just hope the people who care for these birds are making sure they’re okay before selling them. I might just take the chance when I’m ready and buy again from Petco since I never had a problem before.

You can tell they truly love birds, unfortunately there customer service is really lacking. My experience here was just walk in and figure stuff out on your own. They dont't great you or anything, it just feels weird, literally how can you work somewhere and have 2 people in your store standing in front of you and not even say 1 word? So weird.... Im only giving them 3 stars because you can tell they really do love birds. On the other hand holy hell does there customer service suck!

Mike the owner is wonderful. Terry who he has running the store, not so much. We will NEVER step foot in this store again. We had $150 worth of items to buy along with a parrot harness to exchange. The owner told us to come up and exchange the harness anytime (even without a receipt) which we did (with Terry about 4 months ago) because we buy a lot of stuff from them and we drive 90 mins from Salem. Terry got angry immediately and told us “there’s the door if you don’t like our exchange policy you can leave.” We tried talking to her but she escalated very quickly and told us “Mike doesn’t run the place.” She wouldn’t let us pay for getting our parrots’ nails clipped she was incessant on having us leave. We are quite saddened by Terry’s lack of customer service skills. She is obviously an angry lady with little ability to control her temper. We’ve been coming here for years and now we will only be frequenting The Bird Hut. If Terry is working; beware. She is great birds but not people.

Great selections of food, toys, and treats! Their wall of loose wood and wicker pieces are great - I love to piece some together on those metal, cap ended treat skewers, make your own toys or choose from a wide array in many sizes at great prices. Lovely birds on display, great staff. I haven't bought birds from them but they seem very friendly and well taken care of. I've pretty much thrown in the towel on other local pet stores for toys because they're overpriced and not well made. Meanwhile, Parrot Perch regularly exceeds expectations. Been coming here for years and have never had a bad experience.

CUSTOMER SERVICE: 2/10 We visited the store a total of 3 times. Nobody bothered to greet us. The signs around the store are rude under the guise of being informative, & the only person who treated us with respect while we were there was the young red-headed girl. She’s the reason there are points in this section at all. The first time we were there, when we informed the ill-kempt older man that we intended to adopt both of the white bellied caiques, he insisted that we probably couldn’t afford one of them, let alone both! Honestly, where did he find the nerve to make that assumption? The employees (aside from the red-headed girl who should go work at Bird Hut) had massive attitudes, and they get a kick out of being rude to potential customers. It makes them look like they’re power tripping about who is allowed to be in their super-exclusive bird-ownership club. These practices (combined with the way they respond to people online who have concerns, rather than taking advice and changing the way they interact with the birds or the public) are going to put them out of business. CLEANLINESS AND COVID-19 PREPAREDNESS: 2/10 The store looked like it hadn’t been cleaned in a month. There was merchandise (including packages of food) that were dusty, some had fingerprints on them. It seems that they’re over-run with parrots, like they have too many to take proper care of them. They did their best to appear that they care about the deadly global pandemic by spraying down the countertop and having hand sanitizer available, but putting up signs that say “DON’T TOUCH ANYTHING YOU’RE NOT GOING TO BUY” is illogical to expect of potential customers, & irresponsible. CAGE AND CARE: 3/10 The cage that our birds were in was about ⅓ the size it should have been, suitable for parakeets and finches. The cages look like they’re cleaned 1x/week tops. After we paid for the birds, we came back a few days later to pick everything up, I noticed that the same toy debris was in the bottom of the cage as when we first purchased them days beforehand. We noticed a significant lack of fresh fruit/veggies, which is essential to a caique’s diet. The only fruit they had was dried. Dr. Lintner of the Avian Medical Center in Lake Oswego informed me that artificially dyed papaya (like what they had in their cage) is becoming increasingly unhealthy due to changing requirements on imported goods. HANDLING: 3/10 Our caiques are a year old, but it is obvious that they have not been handled/given any time outside of the cage. It doesn’t matter how “small” a parrot is, they need to stretch their wings! Especially when, as I mentioned before, the cage was much too small for them. It’s obvious that only the same large birds are out of the cage at any given time. When we returned to pick up our birds, the rude middle-aged woman attempting to catch them chased them around the cage for several minutes and terrorized them, rather than simply toweling them. They bit her several times, yet, they have never bitten me without being provoked (such as the removal of a blood feather). They clearly hated her. GROOMING: -10/10 The same woman took them into a back room and clipped their wings without our consent. We would have preferred them fully flighted, and now have to wait up to a year for their botched wing trim to grow back, because their feathers keep breaking due to being unprotected thanks to being clipped too short. We have taken them to two vets, Dr. Lintner for their primary exam, and later, an emergency visit at the St. Francis Animal Hospital, when we were unable to remove a broken blood feather ourselves. Both of these vets have admonished the butchered clip job, and Dr. Lintner also noted that their beaks were over-grown, and their toenails trimmed unevenly. She fixed those issues same-day, and recommended that we visit her for those procedures in the future. I am so tired of watching my birds’ wings bleed intermittently for months, just because some idiots with superiority complexes can’t take advice about proper bird ownership. Total: 0/50, DO NOT GO!
