My dog Ollie, a 50lb whippet/retriever mix, was adopted from India as a stray and he was extremely leash and dog aggressive. Garrett Stevens dog training gave my wife and I the tools and capability to recognize the source of negative behavior and correct it with competence. It was a little expensive but the training is worth it. We now have the confidence to take Ollie out as responsible dog owners.

Garrett Brendan was an amazing trainer.. we own 2 German shepherds and he worked with them both .. we were worried owners but it turned out they didn’t need much work at all but he did help us re-enforce positive behaviors and to socialize for success!! Our shepherds just whelped there first litter and we are hoping the positive traits and training will be carried down the linage ! He really took the time to work with them but more importantly work with us to work with them ! He didn’t watch the clock and offered us a really good deal on 6 or 7 sessions ! This man speaks dog language for sure ! Don’t go to 2-3 failed trainers before you find him , make him your first choice! And. Remember “socialize for success”!!

Garrett and his team helped me learn to control and respond to my hyper responsive dog in a way that my dog understands and it works! When I called Garrett I was scared to take my dog on walks because he would go nuts. After doing only a few sessions. He’s now chilled out so much that we went and got him a sister.

These people know dogs. They are not only good with dogs but they are just as good people also. They take the time and effort to make sure that you are understanding what they are teaching.. If you have a dog that's tough to teach or stubborn these people will amaze you the first time you meet. I've been to 3 or 4 other places and all of them combined don't even come close to what we have gotten from Garrett and his team.

I couldn't recommend Garrett's training services enough. Their insight into dog psychology and communication is astounding. We just signed up for four more sessions! I want to thank them for enabling us to have a much stronger relationship with our doggies. Garrett trains humans on how to communicate with dogs in a way they understand, which is different than our instincts. I've never successfully leash trained a dog let alone in only a handful of walks. Read his books, read his blog, take some courses!

After reading his books we decided to visit in person. He demonstrated a couple training techniques and we observed one of his own dogs. That sold us on his natural training. We want a trusting relationship with a calm dog who obeys not from bribes but because she wants to. We signed up for 6 more sessions and will repost results.

Really helped us identify our dogs characteristics and gave us some great training techniques. I highly recommend reading his books as well.

Had 5 sessions with A&O dog training. My dog was social anxious which led to him snapping at people and dogs. After the first session I learned how he communicates and the cues to watch for in order to better know and interact with him. By the 3rd session and with some practice he was not only able to interact in more social settings; but I could identify exactly when and why an issue occurred if he did snap at another dog or person. After the completion of our 5th and final session he was able to be the calm example when walked next to a dog who had the same (if not worse) issue that he had when we started. It was night and day the progress made over the last couple months. Although my dog will always have some nervousness when outside the home. I feel equipped to properly identify and help put him in positions to succeed when interacting with others. He has also made large strides when it comes to him being able to ignore and shake off the stressors of the world which can lead to that agitation and snappy behavior. All in all I would highly recommend and would say they are worth the price. It’s investment not just in your dog; but in your own knowledge of how they communicate with the world around them.

We had a training session for the first time today. Garrett and Jesse are amazing. I talked to my husband about training for our husky and German mix pup who’s had behavior issues along with his high energy and found Alpha Omega. We saw a great improvement from the moment we began our session for the first time to the end of the hour. They even showed us their collar for dogs and they showed us how to properly handle him on a leash with the collar. We ended up buying their collar and it’s been working fantastic! We loved how Jesse handled Presley with calmness even when our pup was having a tantrum. After our session we were impressed and even bought a package deal to get him trained in person again. We enjoyed learning from Garrett and Jesse. We look forward to our next session!

it took forever for them to call me back, but after several weeks of dedicated follow through on my end, we finally got Garrett's wife to call us back and schedule an appointment. This was 3-5 weeks after we initially called and our dog had gotten worse. We had our dog here after several incidents of aggressive behavior and biting. We explained our dog's behavior to Garrett in as much detail as possible, from beginning to end, and he told us that it wasn't too late to correct this behavior and change it around. After 7 sessions, our dog not only attacked once, but twice, the second of which landed me in the hospital for stitches. We had to put our dog down as a result and the AKC representative that assisted us with this had 40+ years of experience with this particular breed and indicated that once a dog bites, it will always bite. Maybe not right away, but there's no amount of training that you can do to change this. Had I known that, I would not have paid over $800 for training and a dog collar and I could have spared myself and my family the rollercoaster of emotions that came after we started training him as there was hope that Garrett could help us with him and Garrett came highly recommended from our vet. I just wish that he would've been more up front with us and told us this information so he could've spared us our time and money. It would have kept our family safer and the dog could have rested. The training itself had some good insight, but other sessions seemed like he was just stretching it out and didn't offer much training at all as though he had taught us everything he could teach us and had nothing more to pass on to us. We ended up not going to our last session because the dog bit and when we expressed this to him, one he took forever to respond, he didn't appear to care that we were going to have to put the dog down, and he never offered a refund for the session we didn't do minus cancelation charge of course. Sometimes it appeared as though Garrett didn't want to be there or he had checked out. He lacked enthusiasm and passion it seemed. The younger male, Jesse, did seem to want to be there and was more customer friendly, but he left part way through.

I had the opportunity to board both of my dogs at Steven's Family Kennel several times over the summer. Amalia and her family are kind, helpful and super friendly. My dogs appear to enjoy going and come home happy and with no anxiety, which is greatly appreciated. I trust Amalia and her family and would strongly recommend their services to any friends and family.

I adopted a five year old abandoned dog from Tacoma Human Society in October 2019, found that he had some issues so I decided he needed some training. I chose Garrett Stevens’ because of the good reviews, and I DON’T regret it!! I purchased a package of five training sessions and I am so impressed with how well my little Joey has done with training. Garrett and Jesse are AWESOME and give so much information that is hands on and positive, it is obvious they love animals and their profession. I’m so impressed with the progress of how well Joey has done! I highly recommend this company! Thank you Garrett and Jesse!!

Garrett was incredible with our 100-lb Lab-Pit mix. He was very personable, concise, and respectful of our dog, Hank. We would absolutely recommend him to our friends and family.

Our experience with Garrett's approach to training has worked amazingly well with our pup, Hank. Hank had anxiety and extreme food aggression. While working with Garrett and his team during our private sessions, they showed us how to communicate properly with Hank, ensuring a calm, relaxing environment for all. When Hank returned home after his board and train, the transformation was awesome! Moving forward, we were also provided the tools needed to have a successful relationship with our pup, Hank. I would highly recommend Garrett's training for any issue you might be facing with your dog. Garrett has a special way of making animals feel comfortable. Hank still loves going to Garrett's for training.

If you want real dog training, this is the place to go. I can't express how much it was worth every penny. We have a Great Pyrenees that had attacked our other female dog and we thought we would need to re-home her. After our first session, the results were immediately obvious. Once all of our sessions were completed, it was like we had a completely new dog. Even after moving away, we'd go to Garrett in a heartbeat if we ever needed dog training for future dogs.

I just finished my last training session today. Garretts pointers and training tips are a god send. My dog had some behavioral problems that I was stressing about. The trainer helped my dog with her behaviors and helped me train her. It's taken a big weight off of my shoulders and now i am comfortable taking my dog out of the house.

Garrett is the guy you want to go see- just don't waste your time and money on traditional doggie training classes. There's no food motivation here- no traditional "sit"-"stay"-"come"-"have a cookie"- basic training that has been drilled into the minds of dog lovers over the ages. I took my now 8 m/o. VERY energetic German Shepard to him after those basic training classes failed. Garrett helped him (also big shout out to Kato and Rambo!) with proper socialization- and helped tune me into my pups body language. I also learned a lot from his books about respectful/appropriate canine body language. He's successful because he can tap into the mind/ motivation of the dog- all from a compassionate and calming standpoint. Never punitive. He's worked with thousands of dogs- and it shows!

GO TO GARRETT BEFORE ANY OTHER TRAINERS IF YOUR DOG HAS ANY AGGRESSIVE BEHAVIORS! Before Garrett and his training methods, nothing had worked for our pit bulls aggression towards humans, animals and he had terrible leash manners. Garrett's collar that he provided us on day 1 solved the leashed manners almost immediately. Our pit bull was so aggressive that we had to stop taking him to dog parks, we couldn't have anyone over to our house, and we didn't feel comfortable even taking him outside. Garrett was our last resort for our pit and he was worth every penny, and actually is cheaper in the long run than most dog trainers and you see results way faster! We had gone to another highly rated trainer before Garrett and the differences were immensely different, mainly in the way he dealt with aggression. Do not go to any other trainer if your dog is aggressive, because if you do your next stop will be Garrett and he solves the problems! In general Garrett is extremely nice and super knowledgeable about dogs and will give you tips for any problems you have with your dogs. He is very flexible and doesn't gauge you for more money if something comes up before an appointment. We haven't tried his boarding yet, but we are going to have both of our dogs there at the end of August, so I will write a review for the boarding as well afterwards. I promise you that if you make Garrett your first choice in dog training and not your last you will save so much time, energy and money trying to get your dog on track.

My boyfriend and I adopted a dog from a shelter in Washington. The shelter had told us she was a lab/rotweiller mix and vary calm. It turns out she was a pit bull / sheppard mix (we did the DNA tests), but more than that she was VERY dog …

Garrett Stevens is literally one of the best guys I will ever meet. He understands what's going on and doesn't make himself seem snobby when you know that you messed up with your animals. Instead he teaches you how to work with them and how to build a relationship and he teaches you how to respect them along with them respecting you, I didn't know if I would be able to keep my boy Bruce due to some misunderstandings, and he had changed that. And my dog absolulty loves seeing him, I have no issues with Garrett or alpha omega training, everything we have been through has been one of the best experiences I have ever had, I plan on going to him for any and all dogs training I will ever need, thank you Garrett for helping my family ❤️????

So my vet recommended this place to me, and I have been trying to get in contact with this person for literally a month now. Called everyday, left voice messages and I JUST GPS the place and brought my 7 month old GSD so I could talk to someone and hopefully get information about training my puppy. I wasted so much time waiting for a response and when I went to the location I spent 20 minutes walking around looking for a building or something. I didn’t find anything. I have wasted an entire month of training that I could have received from someone else for my puppy. I will not recommend this place to anyone. I received no call back and am extremely upset that I wasted my time waiting for someone who is IMPOSSIBLE to get into contact with. I’ll be going to another dog trainer now.

Garrett helped us with Roscoe, our adopted 2 year old pitbull mix. He was a terrible walker and had way too much energy at the wrong times. Garrett helped us get that under control. Would use Garrett again for dogs in our future.

Our rescue dog, Freya, came to us with the sweetest of dispositions when it came to people. However, when it came to other animals, Freya had some serious issues! When it was getting to the point we absolutely dreaded our daily walks, we started to check out various trainers within the Gig Harbor, Tacoma area. As part of our hunt/research we became intrigued by Garrett Stevens’ philosophy. After two sessions we have seen amazing results with our dog. She is truly relearning how to be a social animal while once again using the senses she was born with. Garrett Stevens’ book, “Dog Myths”, has been a great help with training us as well as our pup.

Totally worth the time and price--if you're having trouble with your dog or want to get off to a great start with a new one, you will ultimately appreciate the time that you spend with Garrett. I adopted an 8 month old Belgian Malinois (knowing what I was getting into for the breed, but not with this individual puppy) and went with Garrett based on the other reviews here on Google, for 6 sessions. I appreciated the flexibility of locations--we got to work with my dog in three different places to expose her to the different situations and to help me better predict and catch her behaviors. Garrett is super calm and was really able to read my dog well, as in basically predict what she was thinking of doing via body language, then use well-timed corrections that were always verbal and gentle physical (never anything hurtful or scary for the dog or humans). While my dog has the basic obedience down, I mainly needed Garrett's help with socializing her to new dogs, new people, and to reduce her possessiveness with her food, house, and kennel. And really, the training was both dog and person--I got to learn a lot about my own reactions and timing in a really helpful daily life way. He's good at explaining it all and followed up from appointment to appointment with what we had previously covered to check in with progress. I did end up getting the Dog Myths e-book off Amazon and that was helpful to see what we had covered written down and a few other elements that I can keep in mind for the future (and some of the positives that I and my dog are already doing well with!) While my dog thankfully doesn't have separation anxiety, I think his next book has the potential to help a lot of families with that anxiety. Overall, I feel a lot more confident in my dog and my handling of her now than when I first got her--and that has really been worth it to me. I would also be happy to get more sessions from Garrett in the future, if I feel that we need them. Training her to be calm and flexible and tolerant is really paying off. Thanks for reading this far!
