The staff and doctors here at VSS are top notch, knowledgeable and compassionate. We refer a lot of special cases to VSS because we trust their work and their communication. Special thanks to Dr. Missighers and Jenna for communicating so well, through phone or email. Thank you! -Dr. Vang

Dr. Misseghers and his staff are amazing! They go above and beyond with any questions you may have. My dog Mollie had TPLO procedure at the end of July. When I picked her up to take her home, Jenna helped with the discharge and explained everything so well and very nice!! She's still currently on restrictions but is doing great! We have about 4 weeks to go. I highly recommend VSS, Dr. Misseghers and the staff! Thank you

We've had an amazing experience here! Both the doctors and staff have taken excellent care of our dog mellow. She had a broken femur and we were able to get a surgery appointment within a couple of days. The surgery itself was without complications and we felt very well taken care of! The doctor and staff checked in with us regularly to see how she was doing. They made sure she had enough medication and did not hesitate to prescribe us what she needed. Her fracture healed excellent she has no problems walking, running, jumping. The scar looks perfect ! She is her usual quirky self again thanks to veterinary surgical specialists ! We would come back any time with any of our animals ! Thank you to all the staff for making such a hard time easier on us and for taking care of her ❤

After over a year and a half of trying to get a diagnosis and find a vet to do surgery for my bulldogs screw tail we were referred here. the way Doctor Rohn explained everything about the surgery and answered all my questions at the consultation made the whole process less nerve racking knowing my boy was in great hands. After the surgery they called me as soon as possible and had fantastic communication the whole time. The staff here is so amazing and were so kind and helpful. Winston and I can not thank you enough!!

Had acl surgery for my dog here they were great and took great care of my dog. I had complete faith they would take care of my injured pup with the utmost care. I had my pup in and out for over a year with a double knee repair and I respect and admire the expertise and patience and not rushing for treatment before it was ready, meaning one knee at a time instead of rushing to do both. My samoyed 2.5 years later is loving life and has been given a complete 2nd chance at having a semi normal life. Although she can't run far or go on long distance walks, she has more mobility than she had before we got her fixed at just over a year old with both knees injured. She loves life and has a smile on her face that brings a smile to mine. What wasn’t great however is the price. 4K for each knee repair and had to unfortunately do both. I now can say i own a $10000+ dog and drained bank account since i didn't have pet insurance from day 1 and the probation period was longer than i expect =[ I would still trust and come back here if my animals need it. My animals are worth the joy they bring me.

I had a very positive experience with Veterinary Surgical Specialists. We have a 4 year old female French Bulldog we purchased from a breeder. I think in her previous life she was kept in a crate or indoors most of the time. Once she discovered the outdoors she fell in love. She spends as much time as possible outdoors. She was experiencing breathing issues even in 50 degree weather. I have had several flat face breed dogs so I’m very aware of Brachycephalic Airway Syndrome. I want our girl to have the best quality of life possible so I requested a referral to VSS for evaluation and potential surgery. She had her nares enlarged, saccules removed and soft pallet reduced. She’s doing wonderful and the big challenge now is to keep her calm and indoors during the healing process. If you asked her, she’d tell you she’s just fine and ready to run and play. During this Covid 19 pandemic I was not allowed inside the facility. Even so, I found the staff to be very professional and knowledgeable. I talked with Dr Lawrence on the phone and felt confident that our girl was in good hands. Everyone I came into contact with in person (in the parking lot ????) or on the phone was pleasant, helpful and courteous. Yes, surgery for our pets can be expensive but I don’t want cheap. I want a skilled, experienced Veterinarian. I was very surprised when the cost of the surgery was actually less then I had been quoted. Nice surprise! Thank you for taking care of our girl.

I have taken 3 different pets to the veterinary surgical specialist. A husky that had both back knees ACL replacements, a Corgi that got attacked by 2 Rottweilers and recently our old Lab with breathing issues. I would not take my pets anywhere else! They are informative, professional, empathetic we had great care for our pets!!!

I was referred here by my vet for my Saint Bernard’s Ununited Anconeal Process in each of his front elbows. They were very informative and I didn’t feel pressured into surgery, I was given all the information and realistic outcomes. We did choose to have surgery and everything went perfectly and our boy is home recovering well! ????% recommend! We will be doing our pup’s second surgery with them as well. Thank you Dr Lawrence and everyone else for taking such good care of our sweet boy!

Please DO NOT send your pet here! My 4 year old Labrador had a limp after excersizing. A couple of months and several thousand dollars later, my dogs hind quarters no longer function correctly. Oh, they say I can schedule MORE surgery, and fix him up. If you love your pet, please take the drive and go elsewhere. These guys are saw bones after your money.

My sighthound broke her leg & we were able to get her in for surgery the next day. The staff was extremely nice and made us feel comfortable. The doctor was very thorough with what his plan was and did an amazing job. Prices were on the low end of the quote & her care was amazing post surgery. They call to give updates and allow you to call whenever you’d like to check up on the dog. Highly recommend!

Our dog had a Y humeral condyle fracture and we brought him in to VSS after being referred by our regular veterinarian. During the consultation, before even taking clear x rays (the ones our vet took were useless), the surgeon casually suggested we amputate the leg. After taking our dog back for x rays he confirmed the diagnosis and insisted that amputation was essentially the only option due to the difficulty of the surgery to repair the fracture. We had to repeatedly ask for the risks/pros and cons of the repair surgery vs amputation. He insisted the only con about amputation was that owners feel guilty about doing it. He was very reluctant to discuss the repair surgery and we had to push multiple times for him to give information and when he finally gave facts he said that the surgery to repair the leg had a 50% infection rate and that best case scenario our dog would have a stiff leg that hindered his movement. He went on to say that it would be irresponsible of another surgeon to tell us differently. He made us feel hopeless and out of options. We were so disturbed by his attitude and reluctance to give us anything more than emotional arguments that we went to WSU for a second opinion. It was the best decision we have ever made for our pet's health. We were given actual medical studies to read with statistics showing a 10% infection rate and WSU actually identified what had caused the injury. They could see that the other leg had the same genetic weakness called incomplete ossification so if we had amputated his leg then there was a high chance he could have injured the remaining leg and would have to be euthanized. Needless to say, we opted for WSU to perform the repair surgery. Fast forward 12 weeks and I am happy to say that our dog has a fully functional leg with full mobility! If you have a pet with a difficult orthopedic surgery then I highly suggest you consider getting a second opinion if you experience the same thing we did at VSS.

This place will nickel and dime you to death when all you want is your family pet taken care of. They charge so much because they have you bent over a barrel, what a shame when pet care is more expensive then people care.

We live in Richland, WA. Took our golden retriever to VSS for a torn meniscus and very bad arthritis in her hip. The surgeon and staff were wonderful. Four months later, she has her quality of life back. Highly recommend.

We took our cat here for ultrasound testing. The employees were very nice. Shadow was pretty sick, and the staff showed appropriate concern for his comfort, explained the testing process to us, and shared the results with us. The results were instantly transmitted to the referring veterinarian. we were very happy with their service.

In December my chihuahua suffered a ruptured gall bladder. We raced from Kennewick to Spokane in a bad snowstorm to get him into surgery in time. The care he received here was beyond description...Dr. Lawrence and all the staff were amazing. Bogey was very quickly rushed into surgery and we went to our nhotel to wait. We were called immediately after surgery about his condition, and told we could visit anytime we wanted at all hours over the weekend. The facilities were spotless, his aftercare was flawless! This is the second difficult emergency surgery we have needed here, and I don't have enough good words to say about how everything went in both events. Without their intervention, both my precious ones would not have survived. God bless them!

We took our Golden Retrevor two weeks ago for leg surgery. We live in Richland WA and just returned from our local vet from her first checkup after the surgery. She is doing very well. The surgeon, staff and facilities at VSS were all terrific.

Very nice facility with a very kind vet. Dr. Byron discovered that my dog did not in fact need surgery, after my regular vet got me so worked up that it had to be done immediately. He saved my dog 6 weeks of being in a crate and saved me a couple grand.

We took my baby boy in with a broken pelvis, unfortunately they couldn't save him because of existing knee problems and other complications. The doctor and staff were excellent though and gave me all of the information that I needed to decide what was best for my dog. In the end we decided it was best to put him down so he wouldn't suffer, they truly cared about his well being.

Wow! I have never been so impressed with a clinic in my life! Our Dachshund was diagnosed with IVDD (back issues) a week ago and we decided to call the clinic Monday morning to see about a consultation for our options, they made an appointment the same day an hour and a half later. They did a CAT scan and saw that our dog's back was severely injured and needed back surgery (which we figured by the way he was walking over the weekend). They performed the surgery the same day, 2 hours after his consultation. They have taken such good care of our baby! They even offer Care Credit! This place is amazing!
